Causes: Recreational Clubs, Sports
Mission: We provide a chess club for people of all ages to play, learn and have fun. Our club sponsors the pennsylvania chess junior invitational chess tournament for high school students in the immediate philadelphia area. Chess is scientifically proven to enhance learning abilities, especially in children, so this is a great way to cultivate the mind and to teach competitiveness!
Programs: This is primarily a chess club that supports over 50 people per year. We are also a teaching club and have free lectures every week for members of all ages. Our club supports the holly heisman chess tournament which is a charity tournament for raising money for breast cancer! The mainline chess club meets at the waverly heights retirement center and offer all of its residents free membership to our club.
