All good things come to Main Line Art Center and that may be due to the enthusiasm, professionalism, and ingenuity of its director, Judy Herman. The teachers are wonderful, sharing their knowledge and time. The students are for the most part interesting, creative people who I enjoy being around. The lectures, exhibits, and past trips have been stimulating and relevant.
I came to MLAC years ago as a local artist wanting access to like-minded people and taking an occasional workshop. I encountered a charm and enthusiasm second to none. Six years ago, I inquired about "helping out" in a greater capacity, also known as volunteering. Long story short, I am now Secretary of the Board, active on several committees, and cannot imagine my life without the spirit and comraderie I find amongst my fellow board members and staff, the incredible director Judy Herman, and the overall satisfaction of being part of a community that is part of The Community in such an active, visible way. MLAC gives back culture to all ages in a time when it is so severely threatened by economic cutbacks and a declining focus on the essential importance of art in our lives and well-being.
