What sets Magnolia Harbor apart is the heart and intention behind everything they do. The staff is deeply empathetic, knowledgeable, and incredibly respectful of each person’s unique journey. Whether I was working in the barn, walking alongside the rescued animals, or simply sitting in quiet contemplation, I felt supported every step of the way. There is something truly grounding about connecting with nature and animals in such a mindful setting. Magnolia Harbor CareFarm helps to create a renewed sense of clarity, purpose, and peace that I hadn’t felt in a very long time.

I attended a Community Day at Magnolia Harbor Carefarm just over two years ago. As a human that has experienced trauma and traumatic grief in their life, and doesn’t trust easily, I immediately, felt welcome and safe. I began volunteering regularly with MHC after that. Magnolia Harbor Carefarm is a sacred sanctuary for animals and humans. I’m grateful to part of this incredible nonprofit!

I found Magnolia Harbor Carefarm unexpectedly, and I have never been more grateful for a space, a group of incredible humans, and the sweetest animal companions. Navigating grief can feel terrifying and isolating, but MHC has held that weight with me—offering not just support, but true companionship in remembering and honoring my loved ones.

This space has truly changed the way I approach my grief. When I’m at the farm or with the MHC community, I don’t feel that heavy, lonely kind of grief. Instead, I feel connected—to memories, to others, and to myself. Grief here becomes something I can share, something I can use to support others who are walking similar paths.

Magnolia Harbor Carefarm is unlike any other place or organization I’ve ever encountered. The community often calls it magic—and it really is. Serving on the board is truly an honor, and I’m constantly in awe of the care, compassion, and vision that drives this work forward.

I'm a new board member but have been a supporter for quite some time. Being at Magnolia Harbor gives you such a peaceful feeling no matter if you're reflecting by the stream or getting lots of goat loving. I love bringing our grandkids there to bring the animals some tasty treats (they love animal crackers) and watch them interact without a care in the world. They way that Dr. Bree interacts with the kiddos is magical and makes those around her feel adored. You know that you can leave your cares at the farm and find some peace in your soul.

I am a relatively new board member for MHC but I value the organization and its mission with all my heart. Dr. Bree's compassion and empathy shows through all of her interactions and the organization is changing lives. The animals are the absolute best and can cheer me up on a grey day.

I have been involved with Magnolia Harbor Carefarm since its inception and Dr. Bree since 2019 after a traumatic event in my life. MHC offers a balanced holistic kinship of nature and animals. Exposure to the natural elements of the property grounds offers a therapeutic space to allow the bereaved to be present in their emotions. The animals provide support without judgement; this comfort is reassuring when overwhelmed by trauma. Together, both movement in nature and animal bonding are valuable steps forward for a weary heart and soul.

Magnolia Harbor Carefarm is one of my favorite places on earth. I serendipitously ran across Magnolia Harbor a few years ago when a professor in my doctoral program recommended I look it up. I reached out on the contact form and heard back from Dr. Bree right away. It was such a special connection immediately and I was fortunate to be invited to work with Dr. Bree and Dr. Jordan in the Widows and Kiddos program. When I visited Magnolia Harbor for the first time, I fell in love with it. The scenery, the animals, the people all make it one of the places I feel the most nurtured and safe. I love my time at the farm and my work as a member of the Board.

I am a Board Member for MHC. I have been on the Board in various facets since the inception in 2021. MHC is a truly unique experience in terms of the farm itself and the therapeutic programming. I helped with the initial launch of a therapeutic retreat the first y ear they were offered and I truly haven't ever seen a group come together more readily and in support of one another than those individuals in the grief space of the farm. I wholeheartedly believe in the work of MHC and am excited to continue to support this work with my time and energy as a board member. The rescue animals are tenderly cared for and have such a safe nurturing space to live out the rest of their lives and the humans who are served here often describe it as their safest place on earth. My spouse, son, and I can sometimes be found volunteering for art projects or helping clean up on a monthly volunteer day.

I’ve been a board member since Magnolia Harbor Care Farm began, and one thing that continues to amaze me is how much heart and physical labor our community—especially those closest to the farm—gives to support it. What initially brought me to this nonprofit wasn’t just my connection with Dr. Bree, but also the deep sense of purpose and meaning that this space offers.

In 2018, my husband died unexpectedly, leaving me to raise our six-year-old son. That traumatic loss changed everything. I often wish there had been a place like this back then—somewhere we could have gone to heal, connect, and simply be with our grief.

One of the promises I made to my husband was that his death would not be in vain. Volunteering with Magnolia Harbor and serving as a clinical lead at the Widows and Kiddos retreat allows me to keep that promise. It gives me the opportunity to help others in ways I never could have, had I not lived through that loss.

This work is not only meaningful—it’s personal. It’s sacred

As Network for Good's longest serving Personal Fundraising Coach, I meet many clients through the matching system that Bonterra, NFG's parent company, generously provides. Sometimes these clients return to me to continue working with them to enhance and expand the systems we collaborated to create as they were growing an outreach program.

Magnolia Habor Carefarm's story of growth and impact is one of my best illustrations of a start-up growing its reach and impact. Caring for humans and animals, this sanctuary is building a sustainable mix of revenue channels as it positions itself to deliver its unduplicated mission. It's been a joy to watch them grow and honor to be invited back to serve the Farm as it continues to use the tools in Network for Good to strengthen its ability to serve the vulnerable populations it is distinctly-equipped to engage.
