I love the idea of seeing something new--a play that no one has seen before and yet just might become one of the greats of American Theatre, as some of Magic's plays have. One of the most powerful plays I've ever seen was "Howie the Rookie," an Irsh play that has sayed with me for about 7 or 8 years. I also love the intimacy of the Magic--its small theaters so we feel close to the action on stage and the opportunities that subscribers have to attend special events about new plays, such as a after play talks (Talk-Backs after Friday performances).
My husband and I live in Marin and have been subs at Magic for years. We don't love every play but the productions are smart, evocative, original and thought provoking. The plays stay with us for a long time. If you like intimate, small theatre, and new voices, and you don't have to get "dressed up"... Magic might be for you.
