Upon reading their website, I was touched by their story. My girlfriend's 8 year old son lost his battle with cancer after 10 months, and she was left basically penniless because of all the expenses and having to only work part time from the hospital room. Funeral expenses for her son were being paid out of pocket, and unfortunately she had to take out a short term loan to cover it. When the social worker mentioned that he had come across this foundation online, we quickly emailed and contacted them. The first phone conversation was very uplifting, saying they were going to be able to help us out. I did what she told of us, which was to send a long, detailed email with funeral invoices attached. Believing what the foundation told us, we did not pay the mortuary early, therefore missing out on a $200 prepayment discount. The foundation told us to please call back the next day. My phone calls and voicemails were then ignored for the next day and a half, when finally after the second day I receive a two sentence text letting us know that she didn't "qualify". After I replied at my disappointment at how they had treated us in such a difficult time, she texted back that they are glad they didn't help us because "we were not worthy".
If anyone is in a dire situation like us, please be hesitant in applying, and if you are thinking of giving to this charity, please think twice as there are other foundations that have been absolutely incredible (Megan's Wings)
Thank you and god bless
