Mission:
Created in 1998 by Lynne Cohen''s three daughters, the mission of the Foundation is tosupport and enable collaborative, multi-institutional research combatingovarian cancer through prevention and early detection.
TheLynne Cohen Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research is a national nonprofitorganization uniquely positioned to fight ovarian cancer. A networkof preventive care clinics, a consortium of researchers from prestigiouscancer centers around the country, and a national registry of high-riskpatients from geographically diverse communities comprise the core of ourdirect efforts. From this multi-institutional research platform, we seek toincrease survival rates for women with ovarian cancer by supporting researchfor the prevention and early detection of the disease.
Programs: The Lynne Cohen Foundation is currently supporting five different programs:*The Lynne Cohen Cancer Screening & Prevention Project for High Risk Women at the Bellevue Hospital Center of the NYU Cancer Insitute in New York City. This program is for minority women who are at high risk for ovarian, breast, and other women's cancers.
*The Lynne Cohen Fellowship at the NYU Cancer Institute in New York City. This program is under the aegis of the renowned ovarian cancer medical oncologist, Franco M. Muggia, MD. Currently, we are supporting several Doxil combination trials as well as other chemotherapy regimes for women with a primary diagnosis of ovarian cancer or with a recurrence.
*The Lynne Cohen Preventive Care Clinic for Women's Cancers at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles. This is an early detection, preventive care program for the family members of women who have been diagnosed with breast, ovarian or any other women's cancers. Participants have breast and gynecologic exams and screenings; are seen by a genetic counselor; take part in a lifestyle seminar; and have access to all the latest trials in early detection and prevention for breast and ovarian cancer. *Lynne Cohen at MD Anderson Preventive Care Clinic. *Lynne Cohen at University of Alablama in Birmingham.
