The Lowell Association for the Blind does an outstanding job supporting the needs of both children and adults with vision loss. In addition to educational and social opportunities, LAB frequently sponsors sensory rich field trips. The knowledgeable staff is welcoming and helps the clients to live life to the fullest and as independently as possible. Twice a week, clients come from as far away as Littleton and Salem to be part of the LAB community. LAB has much to offer those with visual needs!

Causes: Blind & Visually Impaired Centers, Disabilities, Eye Diseases, Blindness & Vision Impairments, Health, Human Services
Mission: To support educate and nurture the blind and visually impaired of the Greater Merrimack Valley by assisting them in the enrichment of their lives and helping them to gain maximum independence. To stimulate the interest and education of the general public to the problems and issues facing the blind and visually impaired as productive members of society seeking fulfillment of their human potential.
Target demographics: blind and visually impaired individuals 5-97!
Geographic areas served: Greater Lowell, Massachusetts
Programs: LAB offers programs such as: Youth Programs for ages 5 -14, Senior Youth Programs for ages 15 to 21, STEP - Senior Teen Employment Program, Adult Programs for 21 and over. Radio Reading Service and the Massachusetts Equipment Distribution Program - provide specialized telephone equipment for anyone with a disability. One on one technology and Brialle training available.Radio Reading Service - daily reading of local newspapers.Low vision and adaptive equipment - available to use at LAB offices.One on one Braille Training and Technology Training.Annual awards and scholarships.Funding for programs include: Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, United Way and a variety of local resources, businesses and individual donors.
