Love of little horses is a great program. We do activities with special needs groups and nursing homes. The people love to see and be able to interact with the little mini horses. I have been a volunteer for over a year and it is so rewarding.
I met Nancy Wheeler, the Founder of Love of Little Horses, at the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer's in Charlottesville. She was there with two of her "minis" and we struck up a conversation about her work in the community to bring some joy into the lives of those who could use a lift through exposure to her little horses. I have been a volunteer with the organization ever since. Nancy's clear vision about the benefits of interaction with these gorgeous, friendly animals is inspirational - and validated to me whenever I support a Love of Little Horses event. I am proud to be a member of Nancy's team.
I have been volunteering for Love of Little Horses for a couple of months. It has been such a rewarding experience. I love being around the little horses. Nancy did such a great job explaining what her farm is all about and what she does with the horses. I was so impressed with the little horses and the farm in general. You can see that they are very well cared for and they are so pleasant to be around, very friendly and sweet. It never seems like a chore to be there helping with the barn chores. Nancy does an amazing job with these special little horses.
“Love of Little Horses” has brought so much joy to so many people! I have been able to work with the mini horses at various events. Individuals with special needs, school children, and those in nursing care facilities, light up when visited by these precious animals. The minis are loved and cared for by dedicated volunteers. Owner, Nancy, trains the minis to show off their skills at the functions. When appropriate, the visitors can take part in grooming and “dressing up” the minis. Much love, heart, and hard work goes into this amazing program.
Wonderful non profit that provides so much for the community through working with their beautiful mini horses. Great place to visit and to volunteer.
As I have watched Love of Little Horses grow over the years, I have always been impressed with the wonderful people who volunteer to help us with our mission. A Little Magic is part of this wonderful nonprofit and has been visiting with our little minis at nursing homes, hospitals, Senior facilities and the special needs community both at local schools and at the farm in Albemarle County. This would be almost impossible without our dedicated volunteers! Many Thanks to all of you for helping us bring "a little magic" to others.
I have been a volunteer at Love of Little Horses for over 6 years now. Everyone involved with this organization is friendly, knowledgeable, and very caring. I love coming here to help with the horses and barn management. Nancy has created a wonderful environment for the horses to thrive and a welcoming place for all those who visit. The farm has a very peaceful atmosphere that all visitors comment on. Highly recommended!
