Mission: Love link ministries, inc. Seeks to reflect the transforming love of christ, alleviate poverty, and facilitate physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
Programs: Love-link ministries helps feed hungry people. The working poor, the unemployed, disabled, and senior citizens are our target populations. Those falling through the cracks, marginalized and trying to keep their heads above water. We work with men who have been discarded by family and society. We seek to empower people and give them control of their situations. We provide a food pantry for the hungry of the greater oklahoma city area. We have a very discounted thrift store to empower people to provide for themselves, take ownership in their belongings and participate in taking responsibiity for those belongings. We offer a sober-living program from men desiring to leave drugs and alcohol behind. It is based on honesty and group accountability. The men volunteer in our food pantry and thrift store while they become sober, work on schooling, or look for employment. We do random drug testing. Several of those men still stay in touch and are doing well.
A friend once said to me, "Love Link stretches a dollar further than any other charity I know about." That's true. Love Link Ministries mobilizes a lot of volunteers to accomplish it's mission of meeting needs and helped people experience life transformation. It recently has brought back to life an historic old building that had fallen into disuse.
My name is Rebekah Boone and I used to volunteer at, FirstIndian Church. I helped with the After School Programs and lead my own small group on Thursdays. I also helped with Quizzing whenever I could get a chance. Volunteering at this church has helped my understand my own relationship with God as well with others. I do not volunteer anymore, instead I am just another attendee. I do, however, try to inform people about First Indian and how they can help out this church or the community around them. Volunteering had helped me a lot with my life. I try to get people to volunteer as well because I know they will love it. I know I did.
Some of the experiences that I had started when I was in a youth group. My church in Texas came up and did alot of different things that they needed help with. We went there for two summers. Then when I moved up here to go to school my church goes on the last Sunday of every month. They were very well organized and I think that the people that go there for help are showed alot of love and when they need something there is something all ways there.
I had a friend say that Love Link could make a dollar go further than any other non-profit they knew of. I think that's true. With a small paid staff and a host of volunteers, they do an incredible amount of good.
