The charity has directly helped children and families over 45 years. Over 95% of donated funds goes to the programs helping the kids served. That is amazing. I can't speak highly enough about the work they do or the difference they make.
Love for Kids as an awesome organization. They are so helpful to the community and do it in such a fun way.
As a volunteer for Love for Kids, it is amazing to see what this organization has done for this community and surrounding areas in Dallas. It is awesome to see the faces of the children and how happy they are and see the memories that are being made in that moment. It is great to have an organization that offers services to help families with the resources they need like (clothing, coats, books, shoes, and car seat-to make sure children are safe in our community.
I love this charity. My family has been to many of the events over the years.
The All Kids Count is great for special needs kids and last year they offered great resources for families at this event.
For 40 years, Love for Kids has made an indelible impact on thousands of children in need in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area. The annual "Love for Kids Christmas Party" in itself provides Christmas festivities and gifts for 4,000 plus children. Another event, "All kids Count," provides relief from the rigors of medical treatment for hospitalized children, other children with medical issues and a strong support system for their families. Love for Kids also hosts an annual luncheon, "Spring Fling," for senior citizens in need. There are other events throughout the year that also include fundraising. The Love for Kids Board of Directors are hard working and dedicated to moving into the future carrying on the vision of the founders Bill Barrett and Alan Powdermaker.
Love for Kids has a dedicated working board that has provided thousands of children with the opportunity to to enjoy various events with family and friends. From its humble beginnings 40 years ago, Love for Kids aims to provide educational opportunities for our community.
I have been volunteering for Love For Kids, Inc for 37 years and have been involved in the growth of this wonderful children's charity in many capacities. When I joined the Board I was put in charge if the entertainment for the Children's Annual Holiday event. I manage this area still today and never get tired of seeing the gleaming faces of our LFK "Kids" enjoying the performers. I had the honor of being elected President in the late 90's and I served for four years. Now serving a second round as President, I am excited to see our new mission come to life as we implement new procedures for our signature events and to advance Love For Kids outreach. Our emphasis on "Education - Resources -Outreach" is expanding our events for the disadvantaged - high risk children, special needs children and their families and in need senior citizens in the Dallas Ft Worth metroplex. I have been ask by many why do you still volunteer after 37 years? Two simple answers, Love For Kids and the kids we serve is my "Passion" and and my "Passion" is the "KIDS".

My dad co-founded the charity. I have volunteered and watched it grow over the 40 years. There are so many thousands of needy chidren, special needs children, and impoverished senior citizens that we help. We have reached out to over 100,000 needy participants to serve them through our outreach and resources program. One year a lovely young women, Lupe Sanchez, came up to me and said she was one of the poor children that we had helped years before at our Holiday Event. She told me the compassion and support she was shown during our event made a lasting impact on her and she knew we she grew up she wanted to give back.
I have been honored to be both a volunteer for many years, and now a board member of Love For Kids! Founded by Bill Barrett and Alan L. Powdermaker 40 years ago, Love For Kids continues to serve the under served, disabled children and seniors in need in the Metroplex. Being a part of all major events, I wanted to share the following details about each one----Won't you join me and volunteer with Love For Kids!!!!
LOVE FOR KIDS coordinates an “Annual Children’s Holiday Event.” Approximately 2,000 underserved and high risk children are invited to one of the largest events of its kind. Groups are invited through local recreation centers, schools and other partnering non-profit agencies. Children between the ages of 6 – 12 years of age enjoy a day of entertainment, horseback riding, outdoor games, hay rides, carnival games, food and
prizes. Children are also required to visit “education stations.” The stations are opportunities for children to interactively experience and learn about bicycle and helmet safety, drug prevention, obesity, health education and other topics. This event serves as a program to meet the EDUCATIONAL needs of low income residents.
LOVE FOR KIDS coordinates the “All Kids Count” event for chronically ill and special needs children and their families. Over 600 families attend this event that is planned with special entertainment for children with disabilities and their siblings, parents, grandparents, and caregivers. This also serves as a resource and education day for parents. Parents will learn about programs that exist specifically for their child’s needs. Partnering programs offer quality educational services that support special needs and chronically ill children and their family needs. This event serves as a program to meet additional RESOURCE needs of special needs and chronically ill children.
LOVE FOR KIDS coordinates an annual “Spring Fling” senior citizens event. This event has over 1000 senior citizens in attendance at this resource and outreach fair. The seniors experience music, fellowship, lunch and obtain needed information such as caregiver resources, education and jobs for seniors, together with in-home help and nursing home information, just to name a few. This event serves as an OUTREACH program for seniors and their caregivers.
Love for Kids takes pride in being a part of a great community---contributing to educating and providing outreach for vital resources for parents, children and teens on an annual basis.
I've had great pleasure being part of Love For Kids. I couldn't think of a better organization to volunteer for. The years of hard work from all the board members and their dedication to Seniors and Kids it's amazing. The Children Christmas party is my favorite. To see so many disadvantage kids with joy and smiles on their face is indescribable.
The Board members together with awesome volunteers make this event a huge success every year. I see Love For Kids growing and making a big impact on Seniors and Kids lives.
Wait for it!!!!! :-) NQ
Sean has chronic lung disease, which basically means that he has weak lungs and needs help breathing. We love this event. Sean has always had sensory issues and has never been able to tolerate getting his face painted and after 13 years, he finally was able to do it! We were so excited for him and the face paint looked awesome. The volunteer that did it was really kind and gentle with him. He loved it! Thanks for a another great year at this wonderful event! The Ross Family.
