Mission: To enhance the fish and wildlife resources in louisiana. To promote the general welfare of the louisiana department of wildlife and fisheries (dept. ) and the louisiana wildlife and fisheries commission (comm. ). To develop, expand amd improve the facilities of the dept. And comm. In order to enhance their ability to perform their mission, encourage public enjoyment and use of fish and wildlife resources om louisiana and to conserve and preserve wildlife and fisheries habitats. To further aid the dept. , the foundation conducts research and develops programs that will communicate to the public, the aims, objectives and needs of the dept. And comm.
Target demographics: conserving Louisiana's Sportsman's Paradise and the wildlife and fisheries
Geographic areas served: the conservation and preservation of the land and water of Louisiana including education and awareness
Programs: Louisiana gulf seafood promotiontogether with the louisiana seafood promotion and marketing board, the foundation is conducting an extensive advertising campaign promoting the safety and quality of louisiana gulf of mexico seafood following the 2010 gulf of mexico oil spill.
whooping crane reintroductionthe foundation is working cooperatively with the louisiana department of wildlife and fisheries, the u. S. Fish and wildlife service, the us geological survey, the international crane foundation and the la cooperative fish and wildlife research unit to restore the whooping crane within louisiana.
vhfthe foundation is working cooperatively with the barataria-terrebonne national estuary program,the louisiana departement of wildlife and fisheries to create a network of vhf receiver stations accross the louisiana coast and select inland sites in order to better inform full life cycle conservation of birds and other wildlife.
