Causes: Chambers of Commerce & Business Leagues
Mission: To assist teachers in developing new teaching techniques and program formats, lapcae conducts an annual conference that provides attendees with opportunities for professional growth and development through workshops and seminars. In addition, lapcae provides leadership in advancement of all forms of adult, technical and community education by unifying the profession, deveoping human resources, providing professional development opportunities, and encouraging research in the field of adult education. They also share relevant news with members and public, provide scholarships to adult learners and recognize top educators in the state.
Programs: Produced our annual conference held in august. The conference was attended by 283 professional educators from all over the state of louisiana. All benefit from the opportunity to engage and discuss with their colleagues. The conference provided speakers in the field of literacy and adult education presenting the latest methods and programs for members and attendees' consideration and development.
membership is open to anyone interest in programs, methods, growth and advocacy of adult & community education including the areas of basic literacy, correctional education, life-coping and career-related skills, english as a 2nd language, family literacy and general educational development. The membership inclues approx. 283 members, mostly whom are louisiana teachers and administrators involved in education of adults. Members have access to organizational media information, reduced conference attendance rates, voting rights and other membership privileges. Lapcae's website provides instructional and networking opportunities among the directors and members and help to promote awareness and support for issues related to adult education & literacy.
