An amazing rescue. They really care about animals and making sure they get the best care and homes as possible. Once I own my own home I will be adopting from LOH.
I recently had to let my 18-year-old rescue dog cross the Rainbow Bridge after 16-1/2 years together. About 2-3 weeks after that, I could no longer stand the silence and loneliness in my home when I returned from shopping or other activity. After checking online for Animal Shelters close to me I came upon Lost Our Home. My son and I started my search there and after spending an hour or so with the loving, caring, professional staff, and being introduced to Maisey, I had my new best friend and companion, not to mention bed buddy!! She is such a gift and a blessing to me, being the senior that I am. I have spoken to others who live in my 55+ year old manufactured home community who have also adopted from Lost Our Home and recommended it as highly to me as I have and will continue to do to others! Thank you all for helping me start a new page in my "book of life!" You are the best!!
I'm a dedicated volunteer that walks the dogs in the early morning before temps reach triple digits. I've been a volunteer since 2011! Its a joy to be a member of this "village" that finds homes for pets. Lost Our Homes is well run and well loved.
I have volunteered with LOH for about 10 years. I have watched it grow from a small shelter to a spectacular place that has increased the number of animals by increasing the foster program, helping folks to feed their pets through the food bank, housing animals for folks who are homeless, hospitalized or in dire need of help while getting through some life tragedy. They have expanded to include a medical clinic all the while taking care of the increasing number of animals.
I am honored to volunteer for such a unique and caring place.
Lost our home is the best pet rescue there is! I have adopted several cats from here. The are so caring and so friendly. They truly want all the little fur babies to find their forever home.
Lost Our Home is an animal rescue with heart begun by a wonderful founder and volunteers who were on a mission to save precious pets that through no fault of their own were left behind by their owners. As an employee and member of our local university’s campus cat group I was contacted by our Grounds department who found 15 cats and kittens secured in a shopping cart with a hand knitted afghan atop. Their owner pushed the cart into a parking lot wanting them to be discovered, and the cats helped. Who knows what desperate situation their owner faced and why they did what they did? This was 2008 and the housing market was crashing.
An employee from Grounds found the shopping cart and transported them in the cart to the local Humane Society only to find a sign at their entrance that read “ALL ANIMALS TURNED IN TODAY WILL BE EUTHANIZED” The kind employee returned with cats in tow, upset and perplexed with no feasible options and reached out to me. I worked inside the building whose grounds she was responsible for.
At that time Lost Our Home had no facility to house animals. The organization was new. A campus cat group member gave me some phone numbers of possible organizations that might help. I left messages and was contacted by only one rescue, one person, Jodi from Lost Our Home. She said we have no place to house them but if I could take them in they would supply food, vet care to include spay/neuter and advertisement to get them adopted out into good, stable loving homes. The timing was good as I had just purchased a home which I wouldn’t occupy for several months.
True to her word I was supplied with everything promised and was soon interviewing potential owners at the home for cat meet and greets. All my needs were coordinated by a super kind woman named Florine. Within a couple of months time ALL 15 fur babies got wonderful new homes! I even continued to foster for LOH at the house for quite some time afterwards and still have a kitty that wasn’t suitable for adoption living with me today. Yes, that happens even in a perfect world.
And you thought this was the end of the story, right? Not so fast. My house is located right next to a city park which is a favorite dumping ground for unwanted pets. Typically the cats end up in my front yard and while most abandoned dogs run off some do not. Several times after hours, I have reached out to our police department for help with the dogs, all of which were handleable. Concerned about what they would do with them I was told “we will bring them to Lost Our Home.” Nuff said!
Lost Our Home Pet Rescue is not only helping pets at a difficult time, they are helping their families through several programs that hopefully will have a great outcome. I have seen it with my own eyes and through my own experience. I am thankful there are people and places like LOH out there.
This is a Rescue that, literally, does more than the mission it is entrusted with.
There are the Animals, to be sure, who are well fed, groomed, and have their health checked and monitored, as well as any Issues they may have addressed. The ‘more’ is working with those Humans who may have a situation that also needs attention sooner than later. I recommend that everyone help, it feels good.
We adopted our two kittens, Marcus and Wrench, from Lost Our Home during their kittenpalooza event. They are the sweetest babies and the volunteers and staff at LOH clearly love the animals they work with and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed. They go above and beyond ensuring new pet owners are given everything they need to give their pets a healthy home and truly do what’s best for the animals they care for.
Lost Our Home has been incredible. All of my babies are from Lost Our Home. They have amazing programs that help all different animals and people in many different situations. Their facility is great for the animals, and they staff are welcoming. I am a HUGE supporter of LOH and always will be.
We were lucky to adopt Lola at your Tempe facility six years ago. She’s absolutely the best dog and we appreciated the care she received. The people we dealt with were so nice and we’ve supported Lost Our Home ever since.
Lost Our Home is an incredible organization! They don't just help animals that have been forfeited, they help keep animals and their owners together during hard times by providing safe housing and meals to animals, helping their owners focus on getting back on their feet. I've fostered multiple cats through the Temporary Care Program and it makes me happy to know that the people who own these cats are able to have their best friends back home with them once they are back in a position to care for them.
I volunteer mostly as a dog walker or someone that helps provide enrichment to the shelter animals. The employees or animal care technicians are kind, smart and capable. Its a joy to work with the LOH family to try to make the shelter experience for the LOH residents and future pets as positive as possible. The shelter is clean (no easy task and a 25 hour a day job) and the individual needs of each animal is considered.
I fostered a stray dog from Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. My dog fell in love with her and it was mutual. I ended up adopting her and she is now a much loved family member.
Lost Our Home took care of the medical needs that she had and made the adoption process so smooth. It couldn’t have been a better outcome. I will always be grateful.
I have fostered for them for a few years now. Along with animal rescue and adoption, they provide temporary care for animals whose owners need a safe place for their pets during emergency situations. They have been a blessing to many who love their pets, but due to circumstances (hospitalization, domestic violence, displacement etc) need a temporary placement for their pet, so they don’t have to surrender them. They also provide a pet food bank, which has seen a lot of demand in these times. Superb organization!
I started volunteering at this nonprofit shelter a few months ago. I am very impressed with the training that the volunteers receive. The care that the animals receive is high-quality, very organized, and specific. The animals are treated with great care and respect and one can tell that both the volunteers and staff members love them!
Lost Our Home kept my family together. Getting out of a very bad relationship, I had to move to be closer to family.
With 7 rescue dogs and 2 cats, I did not know how I was going to be able to keep them, but I would have done whatever it took.
Lost Our Home was able to foster several of my dogs, and boarded my cats in their cat suite.
I truly believe it saved my life. My pets are my world, and rescue is such a big part of my life.
Thank you so much to LOH for saving us.
Lost Our Home is a very caring rescue. I found my Nickleby there a little over a year ago and highly recommend LOH to anyone in the Phoenix metro area.
I found my cat Lumi through Lost Our Home and he has been an amazing addition. The staff was so supportive and such a great team
I have volunteered here and see all the great work they do. Jodi has such vision for how to provide services for so many animals in need.
I do foster care through Lost our Home and I truly love this organization. I love their mission, the facility is very nice and everyone that works there is wonderful. I’m so happy to be a part of and volunteer for this awesome organization.
I adopted Small Fry about 2 years ago from Lost Our Home. They were so supportive when I went in to adopt a cat, making sure I got the right fit! The resources they provided after adoption went above and beyond. Here he is in his halloween costume this year!
I used to volunteer at this shelter before I moved out of town and this place is amazing!! They really care about the animals as well as their volunteers and they make sure everyone is thoroughly trained before handling the animals.
I adopted my cat from Lost Our Home. A long time pet adopter, I knew that was my path. LOH asked me so many questions. Frankly, I thought it was excessive. The coordinator matched me with a cat in foster but I really didn't think he was the cat for me. I was so wrong. He's the best! Enduring questions that seemed like they wanted me to order a cat not adopt one really was worth the effort. I feel LOH is reasonable with their adoption fees. I will definitely adopt from this organization again.
I have fostered eight cats with Lost Our Home, mostly through their temporary care program, which helps people in need by providing a safe place for their pets for up to 90 days with the goal of reuniting with their pets once their housing situation issues are resolved. LOH works tirelessly with people in distress and is a great communicator with its foster parents. There are a ton of resources for any questions a foster parent might have. It has been a very rewarding experience for us. I look forward to our upcoming foster cat.
Lost Our Home is one of our favorite non-profits to support. They lovingly help pet owners with assistance to keep their pets fed via a food bank or, in the case of difficult times, Lost Our Home will care for these pets until the owner gets back on their feet. In the care where reuniting the owner and their pet is impossible, Lost Our Home finds new loving homes for the pets. They are such caring people who help so many families.
I adopted Tag (aka Shadow) in June, 2020 and he has been the best most loving dog ever.
My mini poodle, Livia, just loves him and they do mutual ear grooming often.
He'll be 10 on Sept. 9th and will have a huge party.
I'd definitely look to adopt another dog or cat from LOH.
We love LOH! They provide so many great services for people and homeless cats and dogs. We’re so happy to have met Jacoby, our good boy and 3rd rescue pup at LOH. They did such a great job of caring for him before we adopted him. Thank you for all you do LOH!
I volunteered here for a few years and it was a wonderful experience- I would've continued if illness didn't interfere. The facility is great, they offer so many wonderful services beyond just pet adoption. The center is clean, well cared for, the volunteers and employees are all so kind. It's one of the best, ethically-run facilities in the area. The host many fun and creative events to help fundraise and get the animal socialized for adoption- a truly caring group of animal lovers!
Lost Our Home Pet Foundation Inc is such an important supporting resource for animals and families in the Phoenix area. The staff is welcoming, supportive and caring not only with the animals in their care but with the volunteers, foster care givers and adopters.
Fostering for Lost Our Home has been a wonderful experience. The medical staff is outstanding! Our family is always happy to care for cats in need of love and healing before they find their forever home. We live many, many miles from the rescue so fostering makes the most sense for our family but we have volunteered for a few special events and off site events. And again, the staff enthusiasm makes volunteering for these events fun! Sadly, we don't have enough hours in the day to give to all the deserving organizations in the east valley but we're happy to give Lost Our Homes staff and animals all the time we can.
Always helpful to assist and knowledgeable about their cause. Willing to go the extra mile forthe animals and adopters. Caring and giving on support during and after adoption.
The dedication of staff and volunteers have always been First Class, I have known Jodie since her first fund raiser, Nixon was a result of my affiliation with Jodie and Lost our Home
See the dog in the photo? That's now our Ginger! We had been looking for a dog at county shelters for a month or so, with no luck. We went to Lost our Home, and meet Broomhilda, as she was known then, and she was so friendly, and about the right size, so we took her home . Changed her name before we left the building. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, and the facility was very nice and clean. We're supporters.
I used to volunteer at Lost our home. They do miracles helping our furry friends. Kudos to all that work and volunteer there, You are all angels!
Lost Our Homes Pet Foundation is a fantastic organization to volunteer for! I get my fill of social interaction with the kittens and cats and I am a happier person all day long. LOH does a great job providing training and making everyone feel comfortable with the tasks that keep the place running efficiently. If you want to smile all day try volunteering at LOH!
In 2018, one of our kitties went to be with God, leaving a huge hole in our family and our hearts. As the shock started to wear off, we started looking for the perfect kitty to join our family. Our preference was an older guy, who needed to find his forever home. There are a lot of shelters in the Tempe area, and sadly, many of them are less than stellar, and many focused on kittens, as they are easier to find homes for. Then we found Lost our Home. Not only were we impressed with the facilities, we immediately found our new buddy, Jasper. They said he was 8, but I think he lied about his age :-) After finding our perfect guy, we still had questions about how best to integrate him with our other, senior...and somewhat persnickity kitty, Piston, who was still missing his brother. Fortunately, the staff at lost our home took the time to answer all of our questions, and offered us great tips and advice, and we were able to make the transition as seamless as possible, for all of us, and Jasper and Piston became pretty good buds.
Lost Our Home is an outstanding caring pet rescue group that I think the world of. Caring people who are loving of their pets and yours. I so admire the work they do that I gladly make a donation to them every year since my wife of 40 years passed away. She was a cat lover as I am and she asked me to donate each year to an organization that I feel is really caring about feline friends. I have one cat, Lucy that lives in my home, and another that lives in the yard and on my roof, Fluffy. Neighbor lady and I managed to have feral cat Fluffy spay. I talk to her every day, but get no closer than 10 feet and that's when she is on my roof. She keeps the pigeons off said roof! Thank you Fluffy!
I got 2 of my cats from this amazing rescue. We loved it there so much now my daughter and I are volunteers!
I got my little Shi Tzu, Buttons, from Lost our Home Rescue. She was the sweetest dog. She was 7 years old when I got her.
Also, I purchased a Ragdoll cat from Lost Our Home Rescue. He had come from a large cat domain. He was 2 years old and I have had him for 2 years. It took quite a while for him to warm up to me but now he loves being petted and loved.
Lost our Home really cares about the animals they serve! Their volunteer networking is great! They truly do great work in the community!
We adopted Woody 10 months ago after seeing him as a pup at the annual brunch in December. LOH was so easy to work with and their mission helps pets and people too! Providing food to people/pets in need with their food bank, a partnership with Sojourner, a temporary care program for people who fall on hard times or are called to military duty...... and the list goes on and on!! We love LOST OUR HOME PET RESCUE and fully support them.
We adopted a beautiful rescue dog from you that we trained ourselves during the pandemic. She is a wonderful member to our household. She brings laughter, love and mutual trust to us. So glad we found her and the wonderful lady there that gave us so much valuable information on her care, especially wearing the leash all day for a week or two to train her to stay in the room with us.
We had a great experience fostering cats through Lost Our Home. They made the process of hosting seamless and matched our family with the right fosters. We were grateful to be able to support families in crisis.
Have been on-site several times to donate product and money. Impressed with the facilities and especially the staff who are so friendly and having a pet in the office with them. The thing that really has sold me on Lost Our Home is their temporary care procedure. Have read the story about Vets down for hospital care and animals go to Lost Our Home. What a great way to honor our Vets, our homeless and most of all the animals that don't get lost in the shuffle. A GREAT NON-PROFIT IN MY OPINION.
I adopted my dog, Jack, from Lost Our Home in February 2020 after my friend fostered him and his brother at a mere six weeks old. I fell in love and went back to Lost Our Home when Jack, then Quattro, was ten weeks old. They were very thorough at making sure I would give Jack a good home before finalizing the adoption. They did a great job taking care of Jack and his siblings while in their care. The adoption center is clean and run by friendly staff. I just love my Jack! He's now 64lbs of cuddle and comedy! Such a funny guy he is!
LOH does great work. I am proud to be a volunteer there. My kids and I spend our volunteer hours walking dogs and fostering dogs. I am especially appreciative of the Temporary Care Program that LOH offers. When people are in transitional housing or in another crisis, LOH will take care of their pets. They also provide much needed medical care to many animals that come through the shelter. All in all a great organization doing great work.
I adopted an amazing senior dog from you 3 years ago. She has been an amazing addition to our family. She has inspired my family, my friends and my students. She is kind, she is supportive and truly a bff. Thank you
I met the founder and toured the facility. She explained how they assist families who have been displaced to keep from losing their pets by giving them temporary shelter. She also explained how the police can enter the facility and leave a pad even in the middle of the night when required. It’s an amazing place.
I am getting teary as I start this review. Our little pup, King Chuey is our little light. He was found in an abandoned home with his sisters, mom and aunt. He is a blessing for our home and we adore him. Since he’s a Covid dog, we first met him with his amazing Foster mama. She described him to a tee and we knew we had to have him, even if he barked at his sister and his reflection. Lost our home was an amazing experience and they were so welcoming and provided puppy questions later. I love what they do and the care they have for their animals. Thank you for giving us our little pup. Our lives are so much richer and more cuddly because of you guys!!!
I purchased my kitten from lost our home 8 months ago the experience was wonderful. I am a huge animal lover and advocate and could tell immediately the folks at lost our home were truely compassionate and loved all their 4 legged boarders. The facility was very clean and well organized. Each pet cage was clean and comfortable for all. The process to adopt was a bit lengthy but i appreciated that they took the time to assure each pet went to good, safe homes. I highly recommend this agency for adopting a needy, loving animal to add to your family.
I volunteered to foster a sweet cat for a woman who had lost her job and then lost her apartment. I went through Lost Our Home and was introduced to a loving, caring staff who provided me with everything my little charge, Rocky needed.
Lost Our Home made sure that Rocky received his booster shots and medical checkups while he was in my care.
If I were in better health, I would foster another kitty or two. I will always go through Lost Our Home to foster or to adopt an animal.
We had gone to Lost Our Home looking to adopt a new kitty family member on March 13, 2020, just as everything was shutting down due to Covid. There was an orange cat hanging out in the window, watching us as we walked past. We went back into the room with the volunteer to introduce ourselves to the orange cat and it was love. We were lucky enough to bring Tortilla, now renamed Taco, home and he's been a true love bug and great fit with our other cats. We’re very thankful to have such a great rescue to adopt from!
I adopted my dog Dolly from LOH and was a Volunteer for a short time. I can't say enough good things about the shelter, adoption process, care for the animals and quality staff.
So grateful for this place and what they do. I’ve been lucky enough to foster for their temporary care program and loved the fact that the owner and their loved pet could stay together thanks to Lost Our Home.
Great organization.
I was looking for a place to volunteer and a friend recommended Lost Our Home. The shelter’s mission of helping people and their pets really comes through in the temporary care program. Providing love to people’s pet while the people are going through a crisis is rewarding. I volunteer weekly and donate monthly because the money is going to a great purpose. I’m also an adopter because I met thecoolest Border Collie while volunteering.
I love this organization and how they strive to provide temporary care for pets in order to keep families together. I adopted from LOH in 2010 when I first heard of them and have been donating ever since.
Adopted a beautiful cat that was rescued from the streets in phoenix in the summer nearly 4 years ago. The team helped me find the perfect companion as well as making sure the pet was comfortable with me. They gave me background information and available history to make sure I was prepared for anything that could happen. 4 years later with my best friend from burnt toe beans after being out in the summer sun to incredibly affectionate furry friend I couldn’t be more thankful to lost our home and the team that makes it all possible. Thank you!
It has been almost two years since I was able to adopt two wonderful cats that are littermates. They were 8 years old then and they are still ageing beautifully and I have a better quality of life because of them. They were cared for so well at the shelter where they had places to wander around, places to perch, places to eat and sleep in safety and to interact with other cats when they wanted to. I am still so impressed by the staff for their dedication, enthusiasm, and real love for the animals they provide for! It is a wonderful place to find a wonderful companion -- or two! Holt is a gorgeous grey tabby cat, a real gentleman. His sister, Jenny-fur is a large scale girl with a large scale personality! They make my life better!
This place is amazing and they take such good care of the babies they have. If and when I adopt again, I will for sure look here first.
I have a Lost Our Home rescue dog who is just a delight. When I toured this facility in Tempe, I was so impressed at how large each dog's pen was and how the outdoor facilities were fun and spacious. The dogs' pens were clean and the dogs looked happy. Bella, aka Delilah, is my true hiker girl. I am still in love with my bald Goldendoodle after 4 years. Keep up the good work!
I was looking for a kitten last year, about 2 months after losing my beloved Tommy, at age 13 from Cancer. I applied all over the East Valley to various shelters, always missing my chance to meet and greet a new kitty. I applied to Lost Our Home for a couple of kittens, but got an email from them telling me they had already been adopted, but that I should frequently check their website for other kitties, and whomever penned the email said these magic words, “You may have your new best friend sooner than you think.” So, I checked the website again, the following day, saw about 8 potential adoptees, applied for them all, and received another email inviting me to make an appointment to meet them…met 2.5 month old Sonni and adopted him that day. He is a welcome addition to our family, loves to play with his 15 year old cocker spaniel sister, Lady, and keeps her company. He is a lovebug and always headbutting me for kisses and hugs, and napping in my arms, purring loudly❤️He is a beautiful ginger boy and weighs in at 14.5 pounds now. I am so glad I went to Lost Our Home. They are a wonderful organization and help so many animals and people with their good works❤️
Lost Our Home is fantastic! When COVID lockdowns started I was without a pet and I reached out to see how I could help. I got to foster 3 kitties (1 at a time). 1 was adopted after a fews days and 2 were part of the Temporary Care Program and went back to their owners after a few weeks. It was such a rewarding experience to know I was helping furry members of our community while their owners had time to get situated. I ended up adopting a kitty of my own and look forward to fostering again once I get a bigger place that allows more that one furbaby!
We didn’t think we could add another pup to our pack and we went to Lost Our Home. They set me up to be a foster to our foundling and helped me get him adoption ready. By then Charlie stole our hearts and we are forever foster failures. Thanks to Lost Our Home our 5 pack is truly blessed.
We got our boy Sonni from Lost Our Home, and we love him so much. Thank you, Lost Our Home for your help and kindness. The photo was when we first got him in May 2021
I rescued a beautiful orange 7 year old boy from Lost Our Home 4 months ago. It was the best experience I have ever had in rescuing a cat. Their facility is wonderful for the animals. They are not caged and the care they receive is amazing.
The facilities are amazing as well as the people. When we adopted our new family member Bear, we had some training issues, but with the help of the people from Lost Our Home we found him the perfect trainer. They went above and beyond with keeping in touch and helped us make him a perfect dog. I would recommend them to anyone thinking of adopting a pet.

I have adopted many dogs and Lost Our Home is the best! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The facilities were spotless. The meet and greet with our old dog and the new pup went well and we never felt rushed. After we got our new pup Bear home I reached out for some training advice. They responded immediately. I would recommend Lost Our Home to anyone looking to adopt a pet.
Love this organization! They help homeless pets as well as people. They also offer temporary care for individuals who are sick, homeless or in domestic violence situations. This enables people to get back on their feet without the stress and grief of having to give up their pets/babies! Once they are settled they can be reunited!
This is an incredible organization that provides ongoing support for pets and pet families alike. They have saved so many pets and continue to work tirelessly doing so. Their leader Jodi has always been amazing and is well known and respected.
We adopted our cat, Cleo three years ago this month. It was a perfect match for us. Since our positive adoption experience, we have referred several people to Lost Our Home. Those who found their perfect fur baby have been very happy with the adoption process. We continue to support LOH with monetary, food, bedding and towels. Very happy to support this organization.
LoH has been a great resource in the community, helping pets (and owners) who might need just a little extra help. The training program they offer volunteers is awesome!
I have volunteered at Lost Our Home (LOH) and adopted from LOH and both experiences were great. They are very careful and thorough matching pets with new homes, exisating pets and adopters.
I came in for a meet and greet with my dog Fender to make sure Fender and Tulip (light brown in pics) would get along. They got along and 13 months later we are all very happy. Tulip was part of a hoarding situation with approximately 20 other dogs and was traumatized. LOH offered guidance and many resources if needed.
If she looks familiar, Tulip was featured in the 2020 fundraising luncheon video.
Thank you LOH!!!
We arrived in the valley and wanted to adopt a dog within 2 months.. we started researching and looking into Pet Rescues, shelters etc etc. We were referred to Lost Our Home Pet Foundation and every step of the way, we felt very confident that we'd find our dog with them! .. AND we did!! The staff with every interaction was positive, and very thorough.. They clearly wanted us to find the best pet for US.. I cannot say enough good things about what they do, and how they assist their clients with adoption! I've called them with questions and they are quick to assist! Our Sunny girl is the center of our life and we love her so much! She is a blonde husky / boxer mix and has a heart of gold... We even got her a little sister to play, swim and run with!!
We have known LOH for 8 years in various capacities. Volunteer Programs - corporate & individual, Renovations, Adoption Events, Foster Care, facility repairs, donations, etc.. LOH has unique and effective adoption, foster, assistance, training, and community outreach programs across the board! Most important is that the organization has a myriad of pet shelter programs that consistently achieve proactive, quality mission results!
What began as an opportunity for me to expose my two daughters to the experience of volunteering at a nonprofit led us to finding Lost Our Home Pet Rescue 8.5 years ago. Our intention to volunteer for some months turned into 5 years of weekly volunteering at the shelter, countless hours helping run adoption events, and even adopting 10 fur babies into our own family as well. It was a truly fulfilling experience for my family and LOH will always remain a special mission close to our hearts.

My family and I started volunteering at LOH 2.5 years ago and still enjoy and look forward to being there every single week! We have adopted 5 dogs from LOH as well. Founder Jodi Polanski has created a truly amazing, unique service to our community by providing not only a rescue for dogs and cats, but a food bank to hundreds of families, low cost boarding, a partnership with Sojourner center for women, and a temporary care program for people in transition who need a home for their pets for up to 3 months at a time.
When we decided our Yorkie needed a playmate, we turned to Lost Our Home Pet Foundation. We toured the facility and found the perfect match for him. She was rescued from a breeder and had not lived any of her first 8 years outside of a cage. But when she looked at us her eyes told the story and we could not pass her up. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and we love her dearly. The staff was kind and very loving toward all of the animals. We felt confident that we were getting the best service from a very caring staff. If we ever lose either of our pets, we would turn to Lost our Home again.
Lost Our Home Pet Rescue Foundation has helped us several times: First was from a tenant who passed on, leaving several feral kitties behind. She loved kitties, and would feed and care for any stray kitty who came to her yard, for years! It was really sad for the kitties who had come to depend on her but fortunately you adopted them out to permanent homes. Thank you! My son and wife found a kitty wandering by their home and you found it a home also. We know we can depend on you and your staff to help us find a home for other homeless kitties probably left by tenants in that area.
About 3 yrs ago I adopted a wonderful, loving, and behaved female boxer Named Lucy..She Is the love of my life, surrendered from a domestic violence household, she was very shy and stand offish. With the guidance and reassurance of LOH Rescue's staff she has made a complete personality flip and is no longer shy. She brings so much Love into my single household. So I rescued another male boxer "Waldo" a month later to help her confidence. Now the are inseparable. I only wish I could have adopted the sweet happy go lucky Gorgeous stumpy female blue Pittie named "Bubbles" She was Lucys best friend. But I understand she found a safe and happy forever a short time later. thank the lord.
When I could not keep my beloved Jake, they took him in and made sure he got a new loving home. This is an amazing organization.
Lost our Home Pet Foundation helps animals and humans alike. Their willingness to find loving, temporary homes for pets while their humans attend to stressful matters like health issues, domestic violence, or homelessness, etc. is absolutely heart-warming. I've fostered pets for them in the past and will certainly do so in the future. I'm very thankful that Lost Our Home Pet Foundation serves our community!
I have fostered for lost our home about 4-5x now and I loved every moment of it! It started by seeing a news clip of asking for fosters for Thanksgiving and I thought it would be a fun one time thing, but it turned into a passion for my son and I. I love that they offer fur parents shelter for their furry family members while they get back on their feet. The staff has always been kind, knowledgeable and accommodating.
My company has been partnered with Lost Our Home for several years now, and it never ceases to amaze me how much effort they put into not just helping animals, but into helping their community. Their pantry program, boarding program, and community partnerships have made a huge difference to the people of the community. Imagine losing your job, then your home - and knowing there is a safe place for your pet while you get back on your feet. The work they do is truly amazing and humbling.
About two years ago, I decided to foster-to-adopt a kitty from LOH. I saw first hand the great care they provided to the animals and the very important service of their temporary care program, giving people a safe place to leave their furry family members while they get back on their feet. Without that program, so many more people would have to permanently surrender their pets. I’m so happy I adopted a kitty from them, and I’m also relieved to know that if we ever needed help, I could go to them. We need more programs like this!
I saw his picture, made an appt, met him, and brought him home all in one memorable and beautiful day. “He” is Sullivan…and one year later I couldn’t imagine life without him! Thank you to Lost Our Home for creating a seamless experience for me and for helping so many deserving animals find their perfect family.
My daughter had lost her old man maincoon. We went to several rescues & Lost Our Home had the perfect fit. A female medium hair named snickers. We renamed her, Astrid. She is the house Halloween cat
I thought I was coming in to meet a butterscotch tabby, but he was not feeling well that day. The staff allowed me to relax with the other kitties there-no pressure. Just when I thought I was going home alone, out strolled Cypher, my soon-to-be feline overlord. He was well cared for, cuddly, and chatty-everything I wanted in a kitty companion. Lost Our Home got me started with all the basic supplies I needed to welcome home my new buddy. They checked in to ensure we were a solid match. I’m so pleased to have worked with Lost Our Home.
I have adopted 3 dogs from LOH. They were well cared for. I have also volunteered there and I know the commitment of the staff. I don't think cats even want to ever leave there they have it so good!
I love Lost Our Home! I adopted our beautiful Calico, Daisy, almost 4 years ago. Then a little more than a year ago I adopted our cute Terrier mix Wyatt. He was very timid when we got him and now a year later he has overcome so much and is a happy member of our family. The staff at Lost Our Home are wonderful! I was so impressed by everyone each time I came to adopt a pet. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have the sweet "fur-kiddos" that we have today. Our lives are enriched every day because of Lost Our Home.
Great organization run by the most selfless animal lovers I have ever met. Their only mission is to help pets that "have lost their home." It's always amazing to me when someone who has made a commitment to have a pet decides for one reason or another to abandon that pet. This group not only does all they can to provide shelter and find new homes, but does it in a loving caring atmosphere. Where even the most withdrawn scared dog can relax and open up. The only down side is they are not in every corner of the valley and can't help every pet. Great example of human kindness.
Everyone here is fantastic! We do TNR and every once in a while we catch a friendly kitty that has been lost or abandoned. Lost Our Home is always able to help them find a forever home.
I am a monthly donor to help them perform their crucial role in the community.
I adopted two kitties from lost our home and had a great experience! They were very friendly and let me take my time meeting all the cats. I went only intending to take home one kitty, but I fell in love with two sisters so they let me borrow a carrier for her. I’m so happy I found Ginger and Rosemary at Lost Our Home!
Until I somehow ended up with my own pack of dogs, I volunteered at Lost Our Home Pet Rescue for several years.
The experience was a positive one, and the management staff and my fellow volunteers were great to work with while enjoying my interactions with the pets while trying to prepare the dogs and cats for adoption. It was a great experience, one I'll cherish forever!
I learned about Lost Our Home Pet Foundation through 100+women Who Care. They gave an excellent presentation to our group and I fell in love with their mission. As a pet owner who adopted an elderly dog I feel they fill a void with these older pets that can’t be helped in other organizations. I have been to many of their events and it is always inspiring. I always try to help them when I can.
I volunteered there not too long and got a job in veterinary medicine shortly after. I absolutely love how there are rules, procedures, and extensive training on how to handle the animals and proper husbandry for the animals. The retail area is so cute and the staff there, whether they be staff or volunteers are amazing and passionate about their jobs. I wish this rescue many years of business and to expand soon. I will also foster one of their canine cuties because their foster program is legitimate, detailed, yet easy. Stay tuned, you'll be hearing from me again Lost Our Home! Thank you for everything!
We love Lost Our Home Rescue. Three of our fur babies have come from here. My kids and I have been volunteering at this rescue for years. Highly recommend!
Have adopted our last three kit kids, Oli, Vesta and Zodi from LOH. Cannot imagine our lives without these beautiful cuckoos! Truly gobsmacked LOH is amazing! The staff is so fantastic! Shout out to Carol! This organization is needed and needs support from all of us!! Keep our Fur Friends safe!! Peace and Joy. Scott and Eric.
I adopted Lucy (aka Lucky) right at the beginning of the pandemic. I had been fostering before but that became impractical for this person of a certain age. The staff made the adoption process easy and quick.
Lucy was a great companion during the isolation of the pandemic. In my early 70's I mostly stayed at home. Lucy loved that. She is a very social cat who loves people. She will go anywhere as long as I am there. Lucy is now 16 but still healthy and playful. She is the bestest cat I ever had. :)
We love Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. Their staff is devoted to the care of animals. The rescue is generous in taking in animals in all stages of life. We adopted a senior cat, whom makes our lives better every day.
A few years back, my neighbor and I had two obviously abandoned dogs show up on our properties. As in, they didn’t belong to any of our other neighbors, nobody recognized them, and we found opened bags of dog food along with some other furniture dumped down the road. Having dogs of our own, and therefore unable to keep them ourselves, we brought them to Lost Our Home Rescue. They were amazing, and did a great job with getting the young pups spayed and neutered and finding them loving homes.
I have adopted twice from LOH and love them. Will adopt again ! They also provide temporary pet housing for persons in need. Have had wonderful interactions with LOH personnel.
We were looking for a companion for our dog, and found one on Lost Our Home's online registry who we wanted to meet. She was like a Mini Me of the dog we already had! We went and met her the same day, and she was a great fit. We've had her for three years now, and couldn't ask for a sweeter puppy. Lost Our Home was great to work with --friendly, simple. Our son has since signed up to volunteer there!
Lost our home has helped me twice when I really needed some help while unemployed with my Charlie’s food care and supplies. I’m greatly appreciative of all they do!
I foster for lost our home and they do an amazing job caring for these animals. The facility is always clean, the staff are so kind, and the animals are very well loved. I’ve adopted from this shelter as well.
I so appreciate what this rescue does. Not only do they rescue animals, but they also provide resources to help people keep their animals when times are tough. The leadership is well organized, and the volunteers and staff and phenomenal. Thank you for all that you do for the animals!
LostOurHome is a wonderful charity that's given me an amazing community to interact with more lovely volunteers and people that care about animals as much as I do. All the animals are loved and I've never seen anything less than the best being done for them. Thank you much LostOurHome for giving these animals a chance!
My girlfriend rescued a dog from a bad situation and she lives in an apartment I ended up with the dog. Unfortunately I already have too many pets so I contacted lost our home and they stepped up big time. For a very small fee They accepted the pup had him neutered, caught up on shots, and adopted within two weeks.
Lost our home is a top Notch organization!
Lost our Home got us into the foster process, and after an experience that left my boyfriend and I hesitant about adopting a dog so quickly, they immediately turned around and said they’d found the perfect shy and loving dog to fit our life as full time students. We were scared, having just finished fostering puppies, that we wouldn’t be able to handle taking care of a dog — but they knew just who we needed. On March 8, 2021, we adopted our sweet, 3-year-old pitbull Elouise. She was very reserved, but the most well behaved and kindhearted little soul you could ever meet. She’s spent the last 7 months brightening up our lives by the day. She was a special case, everyone at the shelter absolutely adored her and all they wanted was for her to be in a good home. They made sure that not only we had what we wanted out of a dog, but that that dog had what she would need from her new family. Our little baby is as spoiled as can be, and without lost our home, who knows where she would be? I cannot thank them enough or find the correct words to express just how much I am thankful to them for giving me my sweet girl❤️ Lost our home and all of their volunteers deserve nothing but the very best
Excellent programs designed to keep pets with their families and help orphaned pets find new families.
I have fostered 4 pooches through Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. I absolutely adore this group of people, they very much care about the individuals who foster and care for the animals and families.
The white one is my sweet little foster!!
staff here are amazing and deserve more recognition! very clean and organized. volunteering here is one of my favorite things to do!
I have been incredibly impressed with Lost Our Home from when they first started by rescuing abandoned pets that have been left in homes when owners left. I can't imagine what would have happened to these pets without Lost Our Home.
They said they could help with my dog Rosie and they did get her boarded at Heidis Village for a bit over a month. But now they say that the staff at Heidis had contacted LOH saying Rosie is " uncomfortable " and that i must pick her up. Fine, i'll pick her up and take her back on the street with me, but everyone should know that i have been in contact with Heidis Village staff all along and i called them immediately after i read the e-mail from LOH and spoke to one of the dog handlers who cares for Rosie every day, feeding, excercise etc... He told me that Rosie is just fine and there was no such communication to anyone at LOH. Im not calling the people at LOH liars but i could not find anyone at Heidis Village who has knowledge of this opinion on Rosies condition or of any such communication with LOH. And furthermore, if you agree to help people and their pets, barring pet owners grom visiting their pets is making it harder on said animals to be at a given facility. I am of the opinion that because i stated that i did not want my dog in foster care, LOH decided to turn their backs on us. Boooo to LOH and shame on you, many say that this organization merely wants to sell these pets, even said in many of these reviews. Thats kind of how it looks to me too now.
I have followed Lost Our Home for years and found my newest family member from them. She is the sweetest little thing. Lost Our Home was fantastic during the whole adoption process. They do so much! Not only rescuing dogs and cats and finding them foster and their forever homes, but they also foster for those who are unable to have their pets with them temporarily, and they supply food to those who cannot afford to feed their pets. This is a fantastic organization that really cares!

LOH is a fantastic organization. They are extremely well run and really care about helping displaced/abandoned animals. They even help people in financial crisis by taking their animals in temporarily until they get into a better place financially. They provide food to people that are struggling and have pets! The animals are so well cared for and they really screen potential adopters, fosters and volunteers. Adopters are encouraged to give updates and pictures and they do! It's so wonderful to see the animals happy in their furever homes. God bless LOH! We need more organizations like this!
We lost two cats last year, and found new fur babies through Lost Our Home. We are having a ball with our Jesse and Satchmo. Lost Our Home did a great job for us.
My sister has adopted two cats from this group, and we have visited the shelter and the Petsmart center: this is the most amazing foundation ever! Everyone is truly concerned with the well being of the animals: the most rigorous screening and matching to make sure the pet is a good fit. I have been to many shelters and have adopted many pets, but this is the most caring and professional group of people ever.
Prior to volunteering for Lost Our Home I constantly wondered how I could help homeless animals in my community more. Lost Our Home is the place where that happens in Tempe AZ! The amazing staff cares so much about every animal that passes through their care. I could not be more proud to be a part of such a life changing organization for animals, and for the humans who choose to take them home forever. The mission of Lost Our Home to "to provide compassionate services to pets and people in crisis" is life altering. Thank you for everything you do everyday, and for everyone.
I have been a volunteer with Lost Our Home for over a year and am continually amazed at all the good things they continue to do. When I retired, I looked for a great place to spend some of my free time, and I found one of the best! From adoption of so many dogs and cats to providing low-cost boarding to people who need temporary help, they continually minister to our furry friends and their owners/prospective owners to make life better for all! The core staff and volunteers are the most open and caring people I have met in my long history with non-profit organizations. Lost Our Home deserves any and all support that can be provided! Those of us who donate our time, love and energy love Lost Our Home!
What I love about Lost Our Home is the fact that they help families as well as pets. Such an important mission that is not addressed by any other rescue that I’m aware of. I’ve been volunteering at LOH for about 3 years and am very impressed with how the staff treats volunteers. We are appreciated and are constantly encouraged and provided opportunities to learn more about the animals we care for. And a shout out to the “Cat Room Crew” at Petsmart Elliot Rd in Tempe! They are the most enthusiastic group of cat lovers, working hard to find great homes for the kitties!
LOH is a valuable resource to the community. Their commitment to finding homeless and surrendered dogs and cats new homes is remarkable. They have a great fostering program for kittens and puppies that would normally be euthanized due to their tender ages. Their facility in Tempe, AZ is undergoing renovation so it will be even better in providing a safe haven for these animals. They have a committed staff and a team of volunteers that assist in their endeavors. I'm a proud owner of the most handsome of cats that I raised from the age of 2 weeks! This is a great organization!
What first impressed me was their review process...you only get to adopt it you measure up...over the years I've watched this placement service/shelter grow and have continued to be impressed with the staff and volunteers
I absolutely love the LOH cat center at Petsmart! The volunteers have so much passion and dedication for the animals! There isnt anything they wouldn’t do for them. Great rescue!
All of my kitties have been adopted from LOST OUR HOME Pet Foundation, inc.. This is an amazing rescue that attracts the best volunteers plus they have a commited staff that never tires of helping save and rehome animals with loving forever families. LOH rescue puts all the animals in their care. first! i love this rescue i really do. LOH is important to me and to animals of course!
I have volunteered for this nonprofit every week since 2012. They started out in a small retail store and now have their own shelter. The shelter is being expanded to help more animals and people. They partner with their community-police, domestic abuse, rescue, supply food and temporary shelter/boarding just to name some of their services. Plus they are great people and are like family. I look forward to continuing my association with this great non profit—LOST OUR HOME PET FOUNDATION.
I am a volunteer with Lost Our Home, I primarily do events outside of the shelter but love spending a day just snuggling all of the animals and helping staff catch up on paperwork. The team at LOH is amazing, they work hard and take their jobs very seriously but have created such a welcoming environment for volunteers and adopters. I am so grateful for the work that they do for the community!
I volunteer with the dog and participate at adoption events.
This nonprofit provides life changing accommodation and new homes and lives for animals who are homeless through no fault of their own. It also assists people who need time to get their lives in order or are victims of abuse & temporarily need shelter & care for their pets. Wonderful people doing amazing things for people and animals in need.
Our family has adopted all three of our fur-kids (2 cats and one dog) from Lost Our Home, and we were so impressed with the shelter, the people who work their, and their mission, that my daughter and I became volunteers to support their efforts. The volunteers and staff work well together to care for and find homes for these sweet animals who have, through no fault of their own, lost their homes. I am so thankful that Lost Our Home is in our community making a difference every day!
I am a volunteer and an adopter of two amazing dogs! I see first hand the love and care the employees and volunteers take with each animal. It’s as if each dog or cat was their own! I am proud to volunteer at a shelter that does such good for the community too and it’s partnership with Sojourners and the work that happens to keep families and their pets together through the temporary care program. Not to mention meals on wheels for pets of families in need!

We recently adopted a sweet 1 year old chihuahua mix from this shelter. It was clear how much love and care is poured into this place and how well all of the animals are taken care of. Our pup was in excellent health, she had all of our shots and microchipped! I have even recommended friends to adopt all of their pets from Lost Our Home!

Lost Our Home 07/13/2016
Thank you for your review! We love that you are loving your new family member! Thank you for the recommendation, we have a lot of love to share with pups and kitties looking for great families like yours!
This rescue is so great. I’ve been volunteering for 2.5 years and I love it. I’ve had the chance to help so many cats and dogs as well as people.
I was fortunate enough to get one of my kitties from Lost Our Home after losing my 20 year old kitty. I met a wonderful adoption counselor and was able to spend quality time with my new baby that we named Cali!
I started following them on social media and often would stop by and say hello to the cat crew when I was getting supplies at the store. Not long after I joined the crew as a volunteer and my partner and I volunteer for them every other weekend! I spread the word of what this agency does and believe strongly in their cause to help animals and people!!!
I fell deeply in love with the many programs for cat/kitten enrichment. Seeing how they were taught to socialize and communicate with people (and other cats) was inspiring, and I wish more programs like this one existed.
Lost Our Home is an amazing organization with such dedicated staff, volunteers and community leaders. After loosing two of my lifelong cats, I learned of LOH and immediately knew it was where I wanted to adopt my new fur babies. I now have two wonderful kitties, am thinking of volunteering and will continue referring others to LOH. Thank you for all you do and the joy you bring to so many families!
This is a great organization to volunteer for. They are willing to train and work with my teenagers to train and work with the animals. The classes are informative and useful both for at the shelter and my own pets. They do a great job of matching people with animals of similar personality.
About a year and a half ago, my older son was at school and I was home taking care of my new baby. My blind and deaf elderly dog wandered out of the front door while I was getting something out of the car in the carport. She was 15 years old and had never gotten out of the house and never use to be the kind of dog that would run (walk) away. Some incredibly kind citizen picked her up as she walked close to the busy road by our house. They took her to Lost Our Home and posted pictures of her on our neighborhood site. They kept her safe and comfortable until I picked her up. I am SO thankful for this wonderful rescue organization. I don't think she would have survived a trip to the county shelter. My fragile old life partner was able to make it home safely and live the last few months of her life out at home with me.
Lost Our Home is a great organization that is doing amazing things for its community. From rescuing animals and getting them adopted, to providing temporary care for pets in the community, to providing low - cost food and supplies tho those in need, Lost Our Home is doing great things.
I recently adopted a kitten from Lost Our Home and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were able to answer all my questions and clearly knew the all the animals well. I was looking for a companion for my current cat and after describing his personality they were able to suggest the perfect friend for him. The two get along great. Their facility was clean and had plenty of room for the animals to play and roam without being cooped up in kennels. I had adopted from a different shelter previously and it was a night and day difference how amazing Lost Out Home was. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to add a new animal companion to their home.
My son adopted his precious Lily (aka Diane) a few years ago. He also did his Eagle Project there! The staff is amazing and dedicated to creating a safe place for cats and dogs until they find their forever homes!
I’ve adopted two dogs through lost our home one recently and one about 6 months ago. They were so helpful in tips for house training and introducing to my other dogs. These two have been such a joy in my life and lost our home made the process simple and efficient.
When we first considered volunteering at LOH I was worried it would make me sad. Nothing could be further from the truth. Through LOH I have gotten to love lots of dogs and am happy to say they went onto have loving families. There is nothing better for my blood pressure than sitting and petting a dog.
I had lost one senior female cat in 2011 and another in early 2012. After a friend recommended Lost Our Home, I contacted them because I was looking to adopt a pair of cats, which I know is rare in rescue. I worked with Michelle from the shelter and ended up adopting Tommy and Gio, my boys. The picture below is the night I took them home.
My son went to look at dogs and fell in love with a little "big" guy named "Pudgie" he adopted him and brought him home he is the funniest ,kindest, and loving boy you could ever imagine
I am a volunteer at Lost Our Home. It's an amazing place to spend my time. They have a wonderful animal enrichment program, community pet food bank, do low cost boarding and temporary care for the pets of families in crisis, and are partnered with the Sojourner Center. I've been a volunteer at other animal shelters, and Lost Our Home is the best fit for me. They are an amazing organization that cares for pets and people. My husband and I even adopted our cat from Lost Our Home. She had been there for 2 years, 1 month, and 1 week. She fits right in with our dogs and loves my husband.
This amazing group of people goes above and beyond to help homeless pets. From the pet food bank to their temporary care program they cover everything our community needs to get rescue pets into homes and keep them there. Please support their efforts!
I volunteered here with a work group. I loved learning about the amazing work they do. The are an asset to our community.
We found our sweet and beautiful dog Bailey through this foundation. They did an excellent job of getting to know their dogs and understanding their traits in order to make successful placements. They also understood what we needed as a family. We adopted Bailey who had already lived in two other homes. We are so lucky to have her- she is our protector, our best friend, and she is wonderful with our children. She makes us laugh every day. We are so thankful for finding her through Lost Our Home!
I volunteer at this amazing organization! It is committed to helping the pets in their care, be they adoptable, or there for low cost boarding for those families in crisis. It's an amazing organization and I am proud to be a small part of it.
Lost Our Home offers so many unique programs to help the people of our community facing a variety of hardships. Even in the most heartbreaking and awful of situations that they find themselves facing, they do everything they can to find the best solution for everyone involved. The animals are always very well cared for between the loving staff and caring volunteer base. It's always clean and smells so wonderful, too. It's by no means an easy field to work in, but the people here absolutely have the heart to do it.
I've worked in the animal welfare world for quite some time and Lost Our Home is a shelter that truly cares about their staff, volunteers, and customers. Their Temporary Care Program and partnership with Sojourner domestic violence shelter is very unique and has helped keep pets and pet parents together.
I was introduced to LOH back in March when I found a kitty (Tommy) wandering around my apartment complex. He was so sweet and in need of attention, he could only be someone's fur baby. Within 12 hours of posting his pic online, I had - not one, but TWO - messages from two very relieved LOH volunteers. Those wonderful ladies went so far out of their way to get sweet Tommy back: searching around; setting up food, shelter, and traps, even going as far as meeting me after their long work day & again first thing in the morning once we recaptured him. The poor guy had quite the adventure, having been dumped in an act of desperation! Now, I didn't know this at the time, but Tommy had become something of a celebrity mascot of [complex name withheld]! Some residents knew him, some fed him & when he was found, the complex had cause celebre! Anyway, after days on his own (well...mostly on his own), his owners clearly weren't sold on taking him home (understsndable with baby on the way; though LOH did offer to foster/test him til he got the all clear). I fostered him over night until the super hero Florine, met me at 6am (!!!) to pick him up so that I wouldn't miss work. The situation could have gotten really awkward or even heated since his (ex) owners and I found him simultaneously. I can't speak for them, but I'd been looking for him since I posted his picture 3 days prior (he wasn't quite ready to forgive hoomans that first day); it was a HUGE coincidence that we searched for & found him at exactly the same time. Once I learned who they were, I called LOH immediately to let them know I found Tommy and his most recent adopters were present. To the never ending credit of Florine, she gracefully but firmly mediated the conversation/resolution over the phone. Thanks to her, we all came to the agreement that Tommy deserved a shot at happiness with another family more ready. I felt horrible "taking" Tommy just as I'm sure they felt terrible "surrendering" him, but it truly was in his best interest. Tommy was successfully re-homed almost immediately. He is happy and very loved with his new family!
I know of no other shelter so willing to go SO FAR above and beyond!! LOH and it's volunteers handled everything perfectly... from communication to care and convenience and calm. They quite literally saved this little guy's life. And you know what? This is 1 story out of HUNDREDS just like it heard over the last 6 months.
I now volunteer with LOH and my team really does care for the wellbeing and best interest of both hoomans and our animals equally. They have most genuine passion I've ever seen. We take the time to help our families and match the appropriate kitty to each family's situation and desires. Thank you LOH crew for being you!!
As a side note/after thought that's relevant to my story I'd like to point out the following: if an adoption isn't working out for you, LOH will accept the animal back with open arms and no questions asked. Similarly, if your struggling and are in need of assistance (whether due to financial issues, behavioural, or anything in between) LOH will do all that we can. We give surplus food to food banks and can help you with feeding your pet or if integration isn't going so well, we can help you with that, too!
My teen daughter and I volunteer regularly at LOH. It has been a great experience. They do an awesome job with the animals...some of whom are easy to place and some not so easy...from puppies/kittens to seniors...from rowdy to blind...from undernourished to obese. The staff and volunteers really get to know the animals. Volunteers are a crucial part of the operation of this non-profit walking dogs, cleaning, laundry, organization, adoption events, etc.
Also have amazing temporary care program which we have seen how much it benefits families in need to keep animals they might otherwise need to relinquish.
Have had the pleasure of volunteering for LOH this past year and I am amazed at how incredibly dedicated everyone involved in this group is. It's been a pleasure to give anytime that I have to do my small part with such a wonderful organization. The fur babies are truly their most important priority and it is extremely heartwarming to be associated with this group of dedicated people...
My husband found a kitten at work. She was so lovey and friendly, we believed she had been someone's pet. We tried to find the owners and then tried to find her a home. We knew we couldn't keep her and we didn't want to take to the county animal shelter. Lost Our Home was the only rescue that said they would take her. The staff was super friendly and the facility was very clean. We know the kitten will find a great home!
I have been volunteering at this shelter for several months now, and they are simply excellent at what they do. The temporary boarding program is awesome, the facilities are excellent and the way they work with the animals to keep them engaged and make them better able to fit into their (hopefully!) new homes are outstanding. Everyone there is friendly and committed. It is genuinely a joy to work there.
I started volunteering here after I experienced a couple of traumatic events. I needed an outlet that was not only close to my school, but also helped out the community. When I found Lost Our Home, I was completely ecstatic. I’ve volunteered at other shelters before, but none of them met the standards I prefer to be in, except for LOH. They care so much for their animals and try to find the best possible homes for them; and it shows not only in their work ethic, but also with how much love and support they give to each animal. I’ve never been happier giving my time to an organization such as this.
We have adopted all three of our pets from Lost Our Home. Their care of the animals and dedication to placing the animals in the right homes is the best of any shelter around. They run an efficient operation with minimal staff and a large cadre of volunteers. We were so impressed with how things are run that not only did we adopt our fur-kids from Lost Our Home, my human daughter and I are now volunteers as well!!!
This outstanding non profit s a great resources to the state of Arzona both for the servces they provide to the community and for the mentoring that they do to rescues and other on-profits seeking their own excellence.
Please support them in any way you can as they continue to provide both rescue services and aid to those needing temporary pet housing or pet food support!

While it is unfortunate, that some people don't understand the politics of food products and some company's need to protect themselves from liability as well as a profit strategy, by having people throw out food and buy more, we too are blessed by companies giving us pet products past the "sell by " date to able to give to others who are having challenges and are facing giving up their beloved pets.Because of this we have been able to give $675,000 worth of pet food and pet items to 11 counties in Arizona, and count Lost our Home as one of our role models. When I started volunteering at Lost our Home, I was about 11 years old. My father and I were driving home one day when I noticed a PetSmart near us was having a grand opening, so I asked if we could go check it out. After a couple minutes of wandering around, I found the Cat Room and all the cats they had out for adoption. Now, I never had a cat before, so I was so intrigued to learn more about the fluffy, soft little things. I spent a good hour or two there holding, petting, and playing with a tiny little grey kitten that was found and needed love. With my dad's permission, every Saturday and Sunday from then on I volunteered. 10am-4pm, for a few years. About two years ago, I moved 20 minutes away from that PetSmart, so I slowly stopped being able to volunteer. Just recently, my dad and I started going to the shelter together to volunteer for the cats and dogs again. Lost Our Home is an amazing shelter, with amazing people. It has definitely influenced me for the better, and I absolutely love the organization. Thank you for everything you've done for me!
I'm a journalism student at the Walter Cronkite ASU school, and wrote this story about the culture of volunteers at the Lost Our Home, while I'm also a volunteer! It really captures how great the place is.
Even when the sign on the front door says “closed,” a place like the Lost Our Home Pet Foundation is always open with an unlocked door ready for whoever walks in. This shelter, LOH for short, is a no-kill shelter that shines with potential forever love inside and out. When most people first hear the word “shelter,” they think of a dark place filled with small cages, lined up in long rows facing one another with animals packed inside, sad and ready to die in a week. If that same person were to walk in this shelter with that idea, they’d be blown away with the atmosphere. You feel hope for the animals in there, looking for their forever home, knowing that someone will come by one day ready to give that to them. Not only is a shelter like LOH a place where animals can find their evermore dwelling, but it holds the passionate volunteers that make it worth your time.
When I first walk into the shelter, they have a smiling volunteer and worker at the front desk, both ready to help me with whatever I need. There’s a fresh scent of Pine Sol in the air that warms my nose. The FIV positive fat cat Baylor meows at me before the volunteer desk assistance can help me. My eyes are glued to Baylor, and then Renee Fridman, as she asked me what I can do for her. Fridman isn’t usually working the front desk, but she already knows what she’s doing, as if it isn’t her first time up here. It’s my first time seeing her up here.
I don’t expect Fridman to recognize me at first. She’s usually back in the dog’s shaded area outside in the fake grass, spraying down a happy pup who has its tongue out, belly up in the mini pool. Fridman has been volunteering for LOH for over four months now, and while she is usually shuffling around a happy dog waiting for their walk, sometimes I find her in the cat room trying to lure one of the chubbier cats onto the exercise wheel. They catch onto her game quickly, but she always tries it.
“Did Tootsie get adopted yet?” I ask Fridman, and then she remembers who I am. She’s always forgetting that I’m not silver trained, just bronze trained, so I never get to hang with the dogs. I have to be trained to work my way up to the silver status, but until then, my bronze status means I’m socializing with the cats. Her face lights up with joy, and I instantly know that Tootsie finally found her forever home. Fridman is your ultra-animal lover, and doesn’t stop at just cats and dogs. Although she has had over 15 animals in her lifetime, it’s inclusive with cats, dogs, snakes, tarantulas, turtles, and as she states, “God knows how many fish.”
Fridman has always been a fan of giving back to the community – especially animals, as they need the help the most. “I used to work in behavioral health, but with helping at Lost Our Home, I finally feel like I’m doing something that I’ve always wanted to do, even if it’s just volunteering. Most people seem to want pets more than children nowadays, so I want to make sure that all the pets are ready to become a part of someone’s family,” Fridman says.
Some call Fridman a recruiter as well for the organization, as the shelter has been flooded with volunteers who claim to know her. Since she is so involved, she’s volunteering around all parts of the shelter to prepare herself for working at the Petco that the shelter partners with. “The number of volunteers has skyrocketed since I’ve been here; maybe that’s why they like me so much,” says Fridman. “In all reality, though, who wouldn’t want to help with such an organized shelter where it seems like everyone genuinely loves animals and wants the best for them?”
Another volunteer I’ll run into while I’m here is Kimberly McGlynn. The young college student is here every Sunday like myself. She has been volunteering since May of 2016, excitedly approaching her one-year anniversary. I’ll typically find her in the cat room, socializing with all the cats and kittens. She’s always making sure to give the cats that have been at the shelter for what seems like too long a little extra love.
“Mochi’s in a mood, so make sure you give her some space,” McGlynn says as I walk through the gate, making sure no cats are in my way. I see Mochi next to her on the cat post, giving me a side eye as she has another episode. I’ve been bitten once by the cat, but I still always want to give her love. She has worked closely with Mochi while she has been at the shelter for over six months now. She’s been waiting for someone as patient as McGlynn to adopt her and deal with her diagnosed bi-polar disorder. I had never heard of a cat with such a mental disorder. After being diagnosed, she was given up to the shelter, and still hasn’t been neglected ever since she has been back.
McGlynn has further connected with the animals, studying to be a Vet Tech and devoting her time to LOH. She has been doing this to gain not only the hours for when she tries to submit her application in the fall at MCC, but also because this shelter is the only shelter where she has ever felt like a real volunteer.
“There’s always things that need to be done, and they make sure to keep us all informed about events that they want help with. They always let us know how much we are not only needed, but appreciated,” McGlynn says. “It’s refreshing to work with a staff that cares about the animals within it and understand how hard it can be on the future pets.”
Animals have come in under the recommendation of McGlynn, and many have gotten adopted because of her as well. “Not only is it a wonderful place to volunteer for, but I always tell people that find animals or cannot care for their animal anymore to bring them in to Lost Our Home. This way I know they’re going to the right home eventually,” McGlynn says.
She has always told me how comfortable she feels at a place like this, and it shows in how comfortable the animals are with her. McGlynn has had a few animals herself, and knows the important of a no-kill shelter being the go-to for future animal owners. Feral cats and abused animals have felt her love, and giving love to an animal to the point where they finally warm up to you is something special. While most people volunteer to help, the people that volunteer at an animal shelter like LOH are the right kind of people. They seem to have that special connection and touch that cannot be replicated easily.
“Lost Our Home is a second home for me, as it never feels like a chore to volunteer for a place that is so organized, caring, and hardworking to make sure that every animal they come across has a happy life,” McGlynn says.
When I walk around the shelter some more, passing the three cat rooms, the temporary care room, the medical room, and the various “kennels” with the wagging tails coming from sweet dogs on their made-up beds, I eventually run into Jarred Ervin in the back office. While he is a longtime volunteer back in his hometown in Maryland for the Association for Animal Rights, Ervin is the volunteer manager at Lost Our Home, which he feels is a bit of an upgrade.
“When I first moved to Arizona last July to live with some family, I knew I wanted to work with animals like I have my whole life. There were a lot of jobs at multiple shelters, but Lost Our Home caught my eye,” Ervin says. “I’ve always volunteered as a boy scout and my parents wanted me giving back to the community although I didn’t have a lot. I’ve volunteered for the homeless communities, but when it comes to animals, I feel more compelled to help an animal that cannot help themselves.”
While I will usually run into Ervin in the back office on Sundays when I’m volunteering, I will see him all around the shelter playing with dogs and cats and showing some love to the wonderful animals. If he had to choose though, he would rather hang in the back office with Ariel, the 21-pound cat currently on a diet, helping her exercise and stay active and happy. His biggest accomplishment in his two months has involved her. When he first started working, she was 26 pounds, and he has helped her lose five pounds since, knowing that Ariel is his girl and needs his attention.
“I’m a dog person, but it’s hard not to make a best friend like Ariel when she’s always back here hanging out with me,” Ervin says. “My parents always pushed fostering animals when I was young, and I adopted an older chocolate lab mix, Charlie, who I connected with at the shelter back in Maryland. I have to keep telling myself I can’t bring Ariel home – but we will see.”
Although Ervin has been with the organization for two months now, he has made sure to increase the volunteer interactions, as he knows how important something like this is. He acknowledges that the more hours he can get from the volunteers, the more adoptions they can make overall in the shelter. The numbers have been at all-time highs – hitting 138 as of mid-March since the beginning of the year. That number last year during the first three months was 93, and Ervin attributes the high adoptions to the wonderful volunteers.
“A no-kill shelter that offers so many programs like this one and makes your job not even feel like one, is all I could ask for, and I get that at Lost Our Home,” Ervin says. “The people here are the most passionate – especially the volunteers I work with every day – and I encourage them all to be consistent, even when I help them out in my free time.”
I follow many nonprofit animal rescue groups and have adopted pets before, but I can tell you not many compare to Lost Our Home Pet Foundation. I saw a post on Facebook of a little dog that caught my eye, who appeared to be exactly what we were looking for. When I arrived at the rescue place I was instantly impressed with how the animals were being cared for. It seemed more like a pet hotel than a shelter. It was clean and well organized. The staff were all very helpful. I just fell in love with the little dog I went to see and wanted to take him home that day, but he had been exposed to kennel cough and was being treated. The staff took every precaution to not infect the other dogs and he was quarantined. Because I had another dog at home, they recommended he stay at the shelter until he was cleared by their vet to be healthy. When I left that day, I felt like I was leaving my new child behind in a hospital. The staff was very good about keeping me updated on the pups health. I even got pictures sent to me via text
I found out about LOH through the Volunteer Match program at work. I like how they run the rescue and ever since I started volunteering, they just keep on improving in many ways. The organized levels of training and classes along with the newsletters that keep everyone up-to-date is top notch! The staff is beyond friendly and knowledgeable. Jodi made the decision to play an instrumental role in a growing problem here in the valley and focus on rescuing pets that have been abandoned in homes by their previous owners. Not only did she focus on that aspect, but in prevention as well by offering low income boarding among other options to struggling pet parents. I am proud to be a volunteer here!

Thank you so much for the great review! We truly appreciate all of our volunteers, thank you for donating your time and your love for the pets of Lost Our Home Pet Rescue!
LOH does amazing work with dogs and cats who for one reason or another have become homeless! The staff is caring and works to ensure the health of every animal. As a volunteer, I get to share love with these animals, walk them, groom them, and borrow them so they can have a break from shelter life.
LOH also provides low cost temporary housing - my nephew, a vet, recently lost his residence and was able to put his baby girl (black lab) at LOH until he had a place to go with her. What a blessing!

Thank you for this great review! And thank you for volunteering, we are happy to hear your nephew had such a good experience as well!
I was introduced to LOH Pet Foundation almost 2 years ago. I am amazed how it has inspired me to volunteer. The staff is so friendly and their goal is to assist cats and dogs to be adopted to wonderful families. While at the shelter, they are loved and cared for. I am so happy to be there.

Thank you for the wonderful review and your committed volunteer work! We appreciate all of our volunteers, and are so happy to hear how these great pets and experiences have inspired you!
I started volunteering here a few months ago and am truly amazed at the wonderful care the animals receive here. I have volunteered at numerous other places and Lost Our Home far exceeds all of them, from the care the animals receive to the friendly, smiling faces of all the staff and volunteers.

Thank you so much for your review, it means a lot to us that you've had such a good experience. We appreciate your volunteering and care for the pets!
I've been a volunteer with Lost Our Home for 2-3 weeks. I feel like LOH is an outstanding non-profit organization because of the care they give to the animals staying with them. The animals are so well taken care of and shown love. We've adopted our puppy Ziggy from LOH and the excitement at every adoption just shows the care displayed by this organization.

We're so happy and grateful that you are able to volunteer with us after adopting Ziggy! Thank you for your great review, we appreciate you and your care for the pets here and of course for your pets at home!!
I have been involved with the rescue community for many years as a volunteer, and a "Foster Failure" more than once. Three years ago, one of the rescues I work with asked me to spring a little girl from county that was in bad shape and going to be put down. Something in her eyes when we met spoke to my soul and I knew I could help her. It took me two years and several surgeries but Molly (named after the "Unsinkable Molly Brown") was a delight. She was finally 100% healthy, loved to cuddle and swim just one problem, Molly and one of my other rescues, a Jack Russell named Baby, would get in hellacious fights, usually over food or affection. Just before Christmas last year one of those fights occurred and Baby nearly died. The vet made it perfectly clear that I had to give up one or the other, that Baby could not come back to that home environment. I held Molly and cried and cried. I begged friends to network her to find her the perfect home. Finally I called my friend Jodi Polanski, Executive Director and Founder of Lost Our Home and without hesitation she had me bring her Molly. Everyone at Lost Our Home feel in love with Molly and her sweet personality. I did not know that I was just Molly's long-term foster until she was healthy enough mentally and physically to find her forever Mom. The best Christmas present I got last year was when Molly was adopted on December 26th. Molly and I can never repay Lost Our Home for being there when we both needed them most. The entire LOH staff and volunteers could not have been more caring and supportive!

Such a sweet, heartwarming story! Thank you for your review and sharing your experience. We're sure Molly appreciates the role you played in her life, helping her find her forever family! Thank you for your review and your commitment to the welfare of these pets who need love!
I volunteer for this organization. It is truly an experience of being useful and helping animals. The staff and volunteers do an amazing job providing a variety of services to help pets and owners stay together as well as finding homes for the cats and dogs. They provide these services strictly through donations. They use their money wisely and put as much as possible to helping the animals.
I love volunteering for Lost Our Home! They work well with us volunteers to ensure their animals find loving, caring new homes. I'm proud to be a part of this organization!
They were very helpful in finding three homeless dogs homes. I highly recommend this rescue. Clean facilities and friendly staff.

•From the Rules of the Program: Food for the program is donated to Lost Our Home from our community; therefore, we cannot guarantee that it will always be available, or that you will have your choice of pet food brands.
1. I have received cat food from LOH. 2 bags of dry and 40 cans
2. I cannot use any of it due to type or expiration dates. I have verified this with my Vet and with the cat food companies (copy of emails below).
3. I have tried to contact LOH and have left two messages, have not received a reply.
4. I understand the above ‘rules’, however, if the food supplied to my cats is inedible, it should not be given out. The cats still need food that they can eat.
5. How can you help solve this problem? I live at 19th Avenue and Northern Avenue, I cannot make another trip to your location.
6. I would appreciate your help.

Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you for contacting the Veterinary Resource Center at Nestle Purina PetCare Company. We appreciate your interest in Purina products and your concern for your kitty.
Our Veterinary Diet OM diet is a great diet for pets that need to lose weight. If the product you were given was 1-2 months expired, I wouldn’t hesitate to open it and if it looked and smelled fine, to feed it but being a year expired, I wouldn’t recommend feeding it. I hope it helps but please let me know if you have any other questions.

The more fur babies that can be saved the better! My income is very limited and while I was volunteering for them they helped me get my cat the care she needed. Keep doing what you are doing; GREAT WORK!!!
Extremely impressed with staff, volunteers and facilities. A great NO-Kill animal rescue shelter.
One of the best in the Valley Of The Sun, Arizona.
We adopted a senior dog, Nudge, who was a Chow Chow from Lost Our Home. Their care and compassion for this lovely old man was heartwarming. They offered us no-cost dog training which we thought was great. When Nudge passed away this year Lost Our Home staff offered their condolences. We hope to be able to adopt from them in the near future.
We adopted two dogs from Loh, 5 years ago. A mother and 1 of her 5 newborn pups. They were all scheduled to be euthanized . LOH rescued the mom & the pups. We adopted the most amazing dogs. LOH will always hold a special place for us for going above & beyond to save the lives of 5 dogs. All were successfully adopted and lived happily ever after.

Without the help of LOH I would have had to surrender my dog (child). They boarded him for 90 days while my husband and I got back on our feet. All of the people at LOH are thoughtful and caring, they understand the needs of the homeless and the love for our pets.
I have been donating to LOH for more than two years. I discovered them when I read their story through a real estate email asking for help. These wonderful people gathered up two abandoned mother dogs and their puppies from the yard of a foreclosed and vacant house. The Realtors and title people who discovered these starving moms and pups, decided to take action rather than turning their backs.
Unfortunately, this is a common finding in vacant homes and a real need for help.
I am so impressed with the kindness and compassion of the people who run LOH, and am so proud of how well they run this organization. They have grown in number of animals that they help both through their shelter and the generous volunteers and foster homes. I will always be happy to help LOH in their desire to help these animals.
Wonderful staff with a fantastic cause. They aren't just a shelter, but also have several programs such as a pet food bank and temporary boarding that really make a difference in the community!
While volunteering there, I became especially attached to a beautiful pitbull named Geo. Despite being sick with Valley Fever, needing constant vet appointment and medication, Lost Our Homes took Geo in treated him like their own pet. When I first met Geo, he was more shy and timid, but just being around the caring, wonderful staff, he turned into the world's best lap dog!
I have adopted 3 cats from Lost Our Home Pet Foundation. They are the most loving sweet people that I have ever met. Jody has given her all to save these beautiful animals and has created a fantastic shelter along with so many volunteers and employees. They truly will go over the edge to make an animals life better, and help people in need lives better so that they can stay with their pets, I have recommended this group to so many people so that they too can find their special little (or large) fur baby. If you care about animals, stop by there and see what's going on, it's terrific!! Jump onto the Lost Our Home fan wagon!
I'd been getting emails from Lost Our Home and one especially touched my heart. There was a 12 yr. old Bichon whose family was literally loosing their home and they had to give him up. My husband and I fostered him for one night, then adopted him the next day.
Lost Our Home took care of his medical needs, which included pulling 24 teeth (he had been neglected) and were so helpful educating us about owning a dog. Without them our Buddy would have probably been put to sleep because of his age and we would have missed out on the greatest pet we've ever had. He's now 15 and we continue to support Lost Our Home because it's such a special place and the great work they do.
Lost our Home is a wonderful and caring shelter. Their workers and volunteers give their all for the animals. They work very hard at fundraising to be able to do this as well as run a food bank for pets and provide foster care. It is the best run shelter I have ever seen.
I wanted to find a companion for my chiweenie Bella so I started out by looking at rescues I knew but I couldn't find the right dog. So I went into the pet store in Scottsdale Mall where rescues bring in multiple dogs to show people and that's where I found him! A blonde chiweenie named Chauncey. The woman from the rescue was so nice and gave me all the information to make sure I got him before somone else came along. I submitted an application online and called the next day to see when I could come see Chauncey again. It all went super fast and I got him the next day. Everybody was so nice and so helpful and was genuinely so happy and made sure that the dog was going to a good home and would be loved. They gave me a leash, food, collar, and trays for him. They asked for a follow up email about him which I gladly did. They really care about their animals and make the experience awesome! I definitely will go through them again when it's time for another family member. Thank you so much Lost Our Home!
At first I had no pets but after visiting Lost Our Homes my love of pets was reawaken. I first adopted a beautiful cat but after spending more time at the shelter I saw even more beautiful pets that needed homes. I fostered another kitty and List Our Homes helped with all the food and vet needs for the kitty. Eventually I adopted her and she is a great addition to my home. Then a friend of mine found a dog on the street and after not finding the puppies owner Lost Our Homes helped me neuter, feed, and obtain all necessary shots. The puppy is now brother of the two beautiful kitties and is in a loving home. Thank you Lost Our Homes.
We became aquainted with Lost Our Home through Pet Smart. Our granddaughter fell in love with two cats who were litter mates and available for adoption. Lost Our Home was hoping to find them a forever home together and we were happy to oblige!! Lost Our Home really cares about the animals they find homes for and they follow up to make sure everything is going well. The volunteers and staff are very friendly and helpful, you can tell they love what they do. The animals in their shelter are healthy and well cared for. I highly recommend adopting from this shelter. Our new family members Molly and Tommy love their new home and have brought us much happiness in the 2 months we have
Had them
I have adopted two dogs from LoH: the first in 2011 and the second last year. I spent literally 5 months looking for my first dog (as an adult... we always had dogs when I was growing up). I visited animal control, the humane society, and many rescue groups. I saw many sad dogs, a few happy ones, but never the right one.
I saw a combined rescue adoption event on the Saturday morning news, and I bolted out the door knowing this was my best chance to find the RIGHT dog. I walked 80% of the event, and gave extensive consideration to several dogs. Was thinking maybe I wouldn't find the right one as I turned to go down the last aisle. A couple booths down I saw Barkley sitting in front of his foster dad. I got down on my knee and asked "What's this guy's story?" Barkley licked my face and my search was over. Later came to find that he wouldn't lick anyone else's face, though 3 years later he is now very open with his affection.
I adopted LuLu 2.5 years later as a playmate for Barkley. I ended up with a third dog when my brother's family literally 'lost their home.' The two girl dogs are best friends who play constantly day and night, and Barkley is the big brother who keeps them in line. He rather likes that role!
I do not know whether I would have such happy, well-adjusted dogs had it not been for LoH. I think dogs really do become scarred if they spend anytime @ animal control. By inserting themselves and being able to take in abandoned dogs directly, and by providing loving care from day one via Chris/Michelle/Jodi/volunteers/fosters, LoH is placing extremely desirable, loving, and loyal dogs into very fortunate homes. I recommend them to anyone whom I feel desires a GREAT dog!
We adopted Batcat almost two years ago from LOH. They were very professional and I appreciate that they asked a lot of questions to make sure that Batcat was going to a good home. The staff was happy to answer questions. I would recommend them to anyone.
My family adopted a dog from Lost Our Home Pet Foundation almost exactly one year ago. Ryker is now almost three. I found out about LOH through the internet. The day we went down to meet Ryker I was unsure what to expect. From our first contact with the people there I knew they were all animal lovers. The more I read about their services the more impressed I became. The adoption process is very in depth and I love that. LOH wants to be sure they are placing an animal with the perfect family for them. They really take time to get to know the animals in their care. They know what they like and what they dont. They know if the animal takes time to warm up to new people or if they love everyone at first sight. They know and can recommend if the animal likes small children or other animals. My experience in adopting our new family member could not have been easier and it was all because of the time the staff takes in placing an animal with the right family.
We just adopted a puppy from Lost Our Home, and had the best adoption experience! We fell in love with him right away, but he was still too young to come home with us, so while we waited for him to be neutered, we were able to visit and play with him as often as we were able to make it in. Our entire family will be spending much more time volunteering with the shelter, too. This is truly a place that loves and cares for the animals they rescue!
I adopted Rose in 2008 in the early days of the organization. I found the ad by sheer coincidence or maybe fate while looking for foreclosure listings. The bio for Rose was so clever it made me laugh and the details plus her picture haunted me. I called thinking maybe she had been adopted or that I would find out she was aggressive then maybe I could let those thoughts go. What I heard was quite the opposite. She didn't make a good first impression at events because she was a shrinking violet. I drove down, met her and was thrilled when she agreed to adopt me. She has such a sweet spirit and I adore her!
There are many shelters, but Lost Our Home is unique in the services they provide to keep pets together. This reduces abandoment due to personal issues. Animal in temporary care get to stay with the adoptable animals making their time apart less stressful for them and their owners insuring they receive a lot of interaction from volunteers and other animals.
I first came to Lost Our Home with my dad in January 2013 when they matched us with our dog Izzy. After that, I started volunteering with them. It has been so great to watch this shelter grow from a place in a strip mall to their own building. Unlike other shelters, they let their cats have free range of the room instead of being locked up in cages which I love. Despite the fact their new location is a bit of a drive for me, I am always greeted warmly by the staff whenever I have the chance to drive out there to volunteer or just stop in to say hello. These are some of the nicest and most caring people you'll ever meet. They are so compassionate about saving the lives of animals. Lost Our Home is definitely my favorite place to volunteer and hang out with animals!
I adopted two bonded litter mate cats from Lost Our Home Pet Foundation in 2012. I was very impressed with this organization from my initial contact through the adoption process. The dedication and professionalism of the staff and volunteers are extraordinary. Lost Our Home Pet Foundation is an animal rescue, but it also provides services to the community: temporary foster, food bank, low cost boarding. These resources are needed now more than ever.
My husband and I own a business and have been delighted to be corporate sponsors at the annual Christmas brunch.
I adopted 2 young cats (Candi and Yuki) from one of the LOH fosters, Rob, and have had a relationship with this organization for several years as a volunteer graphic designer. I have seen firsthand the love and attention they give to animals at the shelter. They know each critter by name, they tirelessly feed, provide medical attention, maintain, entertain, promote and place their dogs and cats so that they have a good life despite what horrors they may have survived. Lost Our Home is not just a shelter - the people there make it a loving home for as long as it takes for each extended family member to be adopted.
I have seen families receive food from their food bank for their pets. This helps the families stay together during rough economic times. LOH has temporary care available for those times of despair and hopelessness when you think you have to give up your pets so you can get on your feet, LOH comes to the rescue they truly want the animal to be able to stay in their families! As well as finding good caring homes for all the cats and dogs that come through their doors! LOH really works to do the best for the pets!
LOH is doing really heart warming work and saving many many lives which would otherwise have met unfortunate ends. They are very compassionate and ever willing to help! I have volunteered for LOH a few times and have fostered for them. The care and love the animals receive here is so valuable! They help out the pets and their owners and save families from being torn. I only wish I could help out more!
I sometimes think my job loss was my lucky moment because I became familiar with Lost Our Home and started volunteering when I can! My hours volunteering at such a worthwhile organization can make my day. They are the absolute best at caring for animals that obviously no one else cares about...those that are left behind, dumped on their door step, or rescued. The atmosphere when you enter is unlike any other shelter I've visited. The animals are not cooped up in cages but in shared rooms for you to see. When you've chosen a new friend, take him or her into the park (complete with trees!) to learn more about how you fit together. And they offer valuable assistance with many things one needs to know in order to own a pet properly. A food bank, foster/interim care, understanding how to care for your new friend, vet information, and more are available. This is a non-profit where caring and love play a big role everyday. The staff and volunteers are just the best...kudos for a job very well-done!
The first time I walked into LOH I was unsure of what to expect -- it was my first time volunteering at an animal shelter but I was blown away. It didn't take me long to come back to the shelter after my orientation because it doesn't take the LOH staff long to make you feel at home and valued. I've been to many organizations that are disorganized, rude to volunteers, dirty, etc but LOH is certainly not one of them. Chris, Joni and the rest of the staff do a great job of running this shelter and really make sure that you feel good about the time you spend here. I highly recommend LOH to anyone who wants to volunteer with some friendly cats, dogs and people!
I first learned about Lost Our Home about four years ago, when the housing crisis was still at a high point and many people were having to give up their pets because they were losing their homes. The work that Lost Our Home does is remarkable and the number of pets that have been saved by their efforts is heartwarming. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a lesser known animal rescue to help.
Lost your home pet rescue has helped me out twice!!! 1st time was a few years ago. My neighbor across the street from me moved out and left their dog there. He had dug under the fence to get out. he was all skin and bones. I contacted the group and they had a foster come right out and picked him up. I kept checking up on him and turns out the foster adopted him! Another time my daughter was walking home from a friends house and she found 2 puppies in a yard all by themselves. She ran home and got me. We knocked on doors and no one claimed them. So we posted signs all around the neighborhood. Finally a guy called me saying he didn't want the puppies so he threw them out. I contacted Chris and he told me to bring them right over! They opened their arms and hearts for these sweet little girls. My daughter and I have helped out a few times at the rescue center. We are always welcomed there and it feels great to visit there!!!!
