As a LAPD Reserve Officer I'm grateful the LAPD Reserve Foundation to subsidizes the annual Legal Defense Plan cost for LAPD Reserve Officers. The Legal Defense Plan provides us with a layer of protection and representation that is essential in this line of work. The subsidy helps LADP Reserve Officers who volunteer their time to cover the actual costs that is incurred as part of this unpaid volunteer work and greatly appreciated!
I recently had the opportunity to attend an Advanced Pistol Shooting and Firearms course by a renowned firearms instructor, Larry Vickers. I would like to acknowledge and thank the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation for sponsoring me to attend this course. As a Reserve Police Officer with the LAPD the opportunity to take such training courses by such highly qualified individuals is rare and difficult to come by. The training class covered multiple shooting drills of various distances, speeds, times, movements, and degrees of difficulty. The course helped improve my marksmanship and taught me new training drills to use to continually improve my skills. Thanks, LAPRF for the sponsorship!
The Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation (LAPRF) is a non-profit organization that promotes excellence in the LAPD and helps to improve public safety and partnerships in our community.
One of the continuing trends in government is the use of public-private partnerships (PPP). The LAPD Reserve program and the work done by the LAPRF is perhaps the best example in Los Angeles a true partnership between the public and private sector.
The LAPRF provides critical resources and vital support to LAPD Reserve Police Officers. From essential equipment and state-of-the-art technology to specialized training and innovative programs that would otherwise be unfunded, the funding the LAPRF provides directly improves public safety, impacts reserve officer’s readiness, and enhances our quality of life in the community.
The LAPRF serves as a vehicle for tax-exempt gifts and grants from individuals, businesses, and philanthropies. The foundation works closely with the Police Chief to develop a strategic program agenda. It takes the support of everyone to allow LAPD Reserve Officers to continue to be guardians of our community.
Please join me in supporting the LAPD Reserve Foundation.
Our experience working with LAPRF has been fantastic! The Foundation & the LAPD serve as a model for great partnerships, both public as well as private. We at JNP Merchandising have witnessed this collaboration working to its fullest potential. We have seen how the participation of LAPRF has enhanced the recruiting efforts of The LAPD Reserve Corps. among many other efforts with positive results!
Los Angeles Police Reserve Officers have many "out of pocket" expenses. The Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation is very helpful in supporting the reimbursement of the Legal Defense Plan. This allows many of us to be included in an important legal benefit.
Reserve Officers donate their time and energies to the City of Los Angeles and it’s residents. They are not compensated and often bear the financial burden of serving themselves.
The LAPRF is a fantastic organization dedicated to helping Reserve Officers cover the unexpected costs of serving. Specialized training and equipment can cost thousands of dollars and the Foundation is there to help when no one else can.
Most recently, and perhaps most importantly, the Foundation covered part of the cost for a Reserve Officers to obtain critical legal services through the Legal Defense Plan offered by the Police Protective League. Without this coverage Reserve Officers would have to pay for legal defense out of their own pockets when serving the City turns to suffering the consequences.
If you’re considering a donation to the Foundation I can assure you that the money is thoughtfully controlled and well spent. I know because I’m a Reserve Officer and a donor and I’ve seen the good work the Foundadtion has done. I have donated for many years as part of the payroll deduction plan at my work and I also purchase through Amazon Smile with the Foundation listed as my charity.
Please, join the team today.
The reserve Foundation provides strategic and tactical support to the men and women of the LAPD Reserve Corps. Strategic in that they provide a long term vision for the needs of the reserve officers and their families, tactical in that they provide funding for urgent equipment and training needs. This year a last minute opportunity arose to send a team of motor officers to Washington DC to support the Police Unity Tour and the National Police Week, both of these events honor the lives of fallen officers. The foundation stepped up and funded the transporttion of the motorcycles and other expenses, making participation in these important event possible.
In the year of 2016, I decided to join the LAPD RESERVE Unit. I had just completed my A.A degree and by being only 19 years old, I was not able to apply as a full time officer. In the meantime, I still was motivated to be involved with LAPD, but also contribute towards my community. Luckily, I was informed about LAPD Reserves. I must say this is one of my proudest moments. Graduating the Reserve academy and being able to volunteer within my community is inspiring. I am able to volunteer in multiple ways and meet many amazing people who share the passion on being twice a citizen in their communities. As a full-time college student and worker, I tend to be busy, but I promised myself to always give back time in the Reserve unit. As a level three reserve, I have been able to receive many support from other Reserve officers and the foundation's representatives. I was honored this year to receive a scholarship through the LAPD Reserve Foundation. I attended the Reserve Gala and was granted such award. I will forever be grateful. This foundation always recognizes all of their volunteers hard work and truly values everyone involved. They truly are welcoming and will always find ways to come together on developing ideas that benefit the community. They are very supportive, which is what I value the most.
LAPRF is such an important organization to support Reserve LAPD officers, who in turn are essentially volunteering their time (and putting themselves in harms way as well) to serve the greater community. LAPRF has consistently supported getting equipment, training, and resources that would normally cost reserves out of their own pocket, or cost the tax payers. As a reserve, I'm grateful for their support.
The Foundation and the funds raised, are vital to ensuring that Reserve Police Officers are equipped with the resources needed to effectively serve. Reserve Officers give so much of their time and talents along with making tremendous sacrifices to serve, that alleviating any additional financial burden is extraordinarily valuable. Thank you to the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation, its friends and supporters for contributing to our worthy cause!
No better place to donate than the LAPRF. This is a great organization that helps protect its reserve officers that protect your streets for free. As the department is strained on its resources, the reserve program is the silent backbone which often goes unnoticed. Thanks for reaching out.
Although I did not receive the full scholarship, obtaining the partial was very nice of them to do. They didn't have to but they did and I I really appreciate that. Great organization!
The Reserve Corp helps to augment the strength of LAPD’s field force, helps to decrease crime, and to provide concerned citizens the opportunity to become directly involved in the service of their community. The Reserve Corp depends on LAPRF to make certain that financial hardship does not get in the way of these goals.
The Reserve Corp allows citizens of Los Angeles to build closer community relations with law enforcement. The reserve officers build rapport within their communities. They have the unique opportunity to be in contact with their fellow "neighbors" both in their day jobs and as peace officers. This gives the citizens of their communities a chance to see these special individuals in different ways. One, as hardworking business employees or even business owners and two, people who want to protect and serve.
Without the hard work of the LAPRF, the reserve officers could not contribute as they do.
I have been a Los Angeles Reserve Corp member, serving as a level III officer for 30 years. Serving the citizens of Los Angeles has been one of my greatest joys.
Having the Reserve Foundation as a resource has been tremendous for the Corp. The help, when needed by an officer, has been a life saver. Sometimes literally.
I have the pleasure of working with the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation on a regular basis. The Reserve Foundation assists with recruitment, training, mentoring and supporting the efforts of Los Angeles Police Department Reserve Corps. The reserve police officers volunteer their time in uniform serving the citizens of Los Angeles. The Reserve Foundation has supported the Reserve Corps for several decades. The Foundation's efforts, support and dedication is greatly appreciated. I am thankful to be a partner in this endeavor.
I am the Treasurer of the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation. I’ve had this position for the last 33 years. I am also an LAPD Reserve Officer, for the last 35 years, and counting. Since I write the checks, I have seen firsthand, the many Reserve Officers we have helped over the years with training grants, equipment grants and financial hardship grants. I must believe in the Foundation and the LAPD Reserve Corps or I wouldn’t still be involved with both. Late last year I was getting rid of my car. Rather than use it as a trade-in on a newer one, or sell it and use the proceeds to help buy a newer one, I donated it to a Charity Auction company. They sold the car and the net proceeds came directly to the Foundation. Yes, I believe in the Foundation and The LAPD Reserve Corps. The entire Board of Directors and its’ Officers are unpaid and donate their time to the Foundation because they care about it.
I am a graduate of the class of 3-82R and still active in the Corps. Over 30+ years I have witnessed many changes in the management of the Corps. Some good and some not so good. The one constant is the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation. Started in December 1983 I have watched it grow and its mission expand beyond its' original purpose, all for the betterment of the Reserve Corps. Many Reserve Officers have benefitted from the support provided by the Foundation, whether it is for training, equipment or financial hardship. Reserve Officers selflessly protect and serve the people of Los Angeles, without pay; due to their desire to give, back to the community they live or work in. The support provided by the Foundation is a small way to repay them for what they give to us all.
Review from Guidestar
The LAPRF came to my rescue. I am a 31-year Reserve Ofcr, I suffered a stroke a year ago, and I was unable to return to work., my car insurance and property taxes came due. I reacted out and ask the Foundation for financial assistance, last Tuesday and received a check in the mail on Friday. It is really nice the Foundation came to my aid, in a Very Prompt response!
Hello my name is Joe Martinez, I’m a reserve for LAPD.
My regular job is a manufacturing teacher for a high school and an adult school.
I’m married and have three kids, one in college. My wife is a stay at home mom.
The Reserve Foundation is an outstanding organization that has generously given my daughter a 2,500.00 grant that has helped us greatly.
We are very thankful to have a Reserve Foundation there for us.
Wow. What an incredible story this 501 C (3) has. Since 1984, they have been supporting LAPD Reserve Police Officers, who are held to the same standards as full-time officers and donate the hours they serve, on weekends and nights, after working their regular jobs. Proud to donate to this extraordinary cause.
In addition to all the various charitable endeavors they help support, this great foundation assists Reserve Officers (volunteers as well) with training costs, without which they might not be able to participate. Much kudos should go to all involved in running and supporting the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation.
The Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation graciously sponsored me to attend the Larry Vickers Advanced Handgun class. As a young LAPD Reserve firearms instructor, this class allowed me to see an outside professional world class instructor/ training style. To see different communication/ facilitation techniques. Allowing me to better hone/ improve my training style for future reserve firearms classes. Thank you.
The Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation (LAPRF) helps support the LAPD Reserve Police Officers the true “Twice-A-Citizen”. In 2014, Los Angeles Police Reserve Corps saved the City of Los Angeles $2,160,971. Over a 12-month period, the Reserve Officers volunteered 46,426 hours and performed a variety of law enforcement related duties including working Patrol and Traffic Units, assisting Detectives with their investigations, as well as in Administrative support functions. The Reserve Corps could not support the citizens of Los Angeles without the LAPD Police Reserve Foundation.
With the help and funding efforts of the LAPRF which include reimbursements for training conference fees, safety equipment and firearms purchases not covered by the Department, as well as support for community events such as Reserve Recruitment, Special Olympics, and Sunshine Kids. They help to provide additional equipment and funds for training that can be essential to officer safety - bullet-proof assault vests to reserve officer members of the Police Rifle Cadre, state-of-the-art flight helmets for reserve pilot/ observers, and equipment for mounted units. Much of this equipment can be prohibitively expensive for any one individual, especially in these challenging economic times, and the funding by the Foundation has been, in this very real sense, a lifeline. The Foundation has also provided travel assistance for reserves representing the LAPD at national and international events. And we have provided bereavement and emergency assistance to reserves and their families.
I am a proud board member of the LAPRF and LAPD Reserve Police Officer who is in eternal gratitude to the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation for all they do.
