Mission: Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI) revitalizes neighborhoods by engaging people and building vibrant public spaces.
Results: Since our founding, LANI has invested over $45 million in more than 45 low and mixed-income neighborhoods across Southern California. LANI partners with community members to conceive, fund, design, and build public spaces that meet local needs and reflect local pride and character, including parks and open spaces, pedestrian plazas, business corridors, transit hubs, and safe, vibrant sidewalk environments.
Target demographics: low-income, under-resourced, high-need neighborhoods become safer, greener, more walkable, and more prosperous
Direct beneficiaries per year: over 80 L.A. area neighborhoods
Geographic areas served: the City of Los Angeles and in other cities and unincorporated areas in Los Angeles County
Programs: new parks and open spaces, business façade improvements, street tree plantings and sidewalk repairs, public art and placemaking, and transportation enhancements like crosswalks, bike lanes, lighting, bus shelters, and transit plazas.
