Programs: Season highlights:lacc offers a comprehensive, after-school choral music training program involving rehearsals, musicianship classes, vocal coaching, and performances. Through a program that conforms to california's standards for the performing arts, lacc keeps children aged 6-18 engaged in a transformative program during their critical developmental years, guiding their development into highly capable musicians while also teaching critical life skills like self-discipline, focus, the ability to collaborate and communicate with others, the pursuit of personal excellence, and perseverance to achieve their goals. Lacc's program is tuition-based, but need-based financial assistance is available. In 2013-2014 lacc served more than 400 young people from 50+ communities throughout greater los angeles and reflected in its membership the cultural and economic diversity of the region. In 2014-2015 lacc fostered the choristers musical learning and showcased their artistry through a busy season of retreats, rehearsals, vocal coaching and musicianship classes, as well as self-produced concerts and collaborative performances for the community. In addition to laccs own winter and spring concerts, highlights of laccs 2014-2015 season included beethovens missa solemnis and unsuk chins alice in wonderland as well as the opening night gala with the la phil; bachs st. Matthew passion with the los angeles master chorale; onstage/backstage: a pbs socal holiday celebration; the 55th annual la county holiday celebration; the holiday candlelight concert with the pasadena symphony; winter dreams with jacaranda; the loren l. Zachary society for the performing arts viennese opera luncheon; stanford live performance; and monteverdi vespers of 1610 with the philharmonic society of orange county as well as 10 community connections concerts. Choirs including the vox aurea and the estonian tv girls choirs did cross cultural concerts with lacc. In addition, the concert choir sang with the australian childrens choir in a concert on the millennium stage of the john f. Kennedy center for the performing arts and in an international choral exchange concert during their tour on the east coast and the young mens ensemble was warmly received in cuba during their tour and cultural exchange with the choir sine nomine. Background of lacc:under artistic director anne tomlinson, los angeles children's chorus (lacc) is recognized throughout the country for its exceptional artistic quality and technical ability. Founded in 1986, lacc performs frequently with leading music ensembles including the los angeles philharmonic, hollywood bowl orchestra, los angeles master chorale, los angeles chamber orchestra, calder quartet, and pasadena symphony and pops. Lacc also assists la opera by training and providing children for its opera productions that require children's chorus or child soloists. Lacc has toured africa, austria, brazil, canada, china, czech republic, germany, great britain, hungary, italy, poland, scandinavia, and many parts of the united states. In 2011, concert choir toured the east coast and performed in new york city; princeton, new jersey; and washington, dc, where it performed a july 4th concert on the millennium stage at the john f. Kennedy center for the performing arts. Kennedy center president michael kaiser stated: "every once in a while i have an arts experience that catches me by surprise and reminds me about the power and beauty of the arts. Watching [the lacc] chorus of young voices was riveting. Not just because of the youngsters' technical proficiency, which was substantial, but for the seriousness with which they took their work. It was astonishing. These children are simply the best. "
