Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Human Services, Senior Centers, Seniors
Mission: Larso provides service, fellowship, instruction and advocacy for retirees and seniors in los alamos county.
Programs: In fy2017, larso expanded its weekday lunch program to the newly renovated white rock senior center. In addition to lunches, that center now has a fitness center, more meeting space and a greater array of recreation, social and exercise programs. Larso exceeded its goals for the year in congregate meals, transportation and adult day services. We were slightly under in home delivered meals. Larso continued partnerships for youth/senior programs with assets in action, fitness programs and the my chronic disease management program for seniors. We again partnered with home instead for the be a santa to a senior program. We continue to be a part los alamos falls coalition and the older adult network. We collaborate with aarp for tax and safe driving programs. Seniors trips happened every month, with a highlight being the santa fe opera trips in august. These trips helped us to achieve our transportation unit projections and brought new seniors to the centers. We have added some staff time to the wrsc, but reduced some hours for the day program staff, as our census decreased. We have trained 3 volunteers to help with delivery of meals. We have increased our use of technology this year to include scanners for our drivers and meal delivery staff to assist in our data entry.
