Longyear Foundation has a great collection of historic memorabilia and homes connected to the history of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science Mary Baker Eddy. It has friendly and knowledgeable staff to share its collection and information with visitors. People interested in the financials of the Foundation can look on guidestar.org and read the Foundation's tax forms. The forms currently listed seem to show prudent and legally acceptable use of the funds they receive. The director's salary seems to be in line (or even less than) other non-profits with similar budgets. I highly recommend supporting this organization.
Review from Guidestar
We were donors to this museum until discovering their management doctored the books. The figures given to us did not add up. Ms Houston. Senior Director, flat out lied to my husband. She is more in it for her six figure salary than the mission. Recently found out she is also provided with a free home to live in. Follow the money, all about greed. Such a shame they used to be an honorable institution. When Mr. Hewitt died and they got rid of Mr. MacDonald things started falling apart.
