Programs: Our longview outdoor gallery committee accomplished the maintenance of trees, flowers, shrubs, banners, decorative lighting, artistic murals and sculpture to assure the economic vitality of the historic district of longview, washington through preservation and beautification to the benefit of approximately 99,000 local residents.
the friends of longview are working to preserve the historical shay locomotive. The shay belongs to the city of longview, therefore the restoration of it and the city park where it sits is a contribution to the city of longview and its 99,000 residents. In conjunction with the shay, fl also is working to restore a squirrel statue. They are also working toward benches, restoration of the hemlock plaza, lighting and a fence for the shay. During the restoration, fl was fortunate to receive approximately 14,772 in donated skilled labor for the shay restoration.
the art renaissance team ("art") is working toward bringing internationally known art to the city of longview. They are just beginning and have contacted dale chihuly for drawings and proposal. The city is beginning a project to place a plaza downtown and has approved the placement of the chihuly there.
