Mission: An all-volunteer agency working to provide support to, and promote and advocate for, volunteer serviceon long island, livc was designed a new york state regional volunteer center in september 2011 to raise the profile of volunteerism on l. I. And increase volunteer engagement.
Programs: New york state volunteer generation fund reimbursable grant to help underwrite expenses to increase theprofile of volunteerism and recruit 51,000 new volunteers in the region. Expenses were incurred for media/pr/marketing, tracking/reporting volunteer numbers, sponsoring large scale community service projects that engaged volunteers, sponsoring national days of service including september 11, mlk holiday, and nationalvolunteer week; and sponsoring corporate days of service.
new york state social block grant reinbursable grant to help underwrite expenses to recruit 650 skill-baseddisaster volunteers to assist with sandy relief/recovery; to coordimate efforts with long island long termrecovery group and long island coads(community organizations active in disaster); to conduct training and volunteer orientation for cerc volunteers; to participate in resource fairs and events to recruit volunteers and providelogistics support to disaster groups; increase emergency preparedness through outreach, education and serviceprojects; and to maintain a call center for volunteers and sandy affected homeowners that need referrals todisaster support service including volunteer groups.
pricewaterhousecoopers foundation grant to open disaster recovery center call center to accomplish targetedoutreach to sandy over 900 affected homeowners identified by amerccorps st. Louis wait list and church world service needs assessments; expenses incurred to staff the call center,support outreach efforts at resource fairs/events, increase new york rising applications for low to moderate income application, refer familiesand individual case managers, and provide logistics support to disaster volunteer groups.
