This charity is such an amazing charity. They give extra help to young children and care for them as much as they can. I can say that I fully support others who struggle with their young children and that they are fully able to place them in an organization like this.
Provides an amazing value to the community. I would reccomend the services they provide to any and all!
As a Board member I am proud to contribute to this wonderful 101 year old organization. As a part of my architectural practice I have worked with and visited numerous child care facilities in Southern California. None approach the level of experience and professionalism of Long Beach Day Nursery. The attention and care given to the children is outstanding and the staff are exceptional.
A difficult day for every new parent is leaving that new treasure of a person in someone else's care while returning to the working world. My wife and I did an extensive search for a early childhood education center that was exactly that, not merely "day care." We were beyond thankful to have found the Long Beach Day Nursery. Although it was still difficult leaving our child that first day, it was made easier by knowing that he was going to receive more socialization and a better pedagogic experience than we could provide.
Our family believes so strongly in the organization and its mission that when presented with the opportunity to join its board of directors I was happy to in a small way repay and help shape organization that has such a tremendous impact on the formative years of so many future leaders.
This is my second year on the Board and I am so proud of the Nursery's mission and the ways they carry out their goals in the community. It supports a wonderful and much needed cause for our growing youth in today's community.
As a working parent the Long Beach Day Nursery was a tremendous resource when I needed to find care for my 6 month old daughter, Genevieve. Their continuity of care, high quality infant care providers, and amazing facilities provided an unprecedented piece of mind and comfort for me as a parent. Not only did my daughter receive loving and quality child care, she also developed a very robust level of confidence, social skills, and a love for learning. The partnership between the providers (who really become like family) and the parents ensures that children have a very solid foundation that will serve them well as they grow and develop. I am now a board member for the Nursery and a passionate advocate for ensuring this type of resource is available for both children and working parents regardless of ability to pay. This is a foundation that I would hope all children could experience. As a board member I have now been introduced to the amazing community network that is also committed to this mission and it is a true testament to the work of the Nursery and the amazing staff and educators that give their all to children every day.
I am a past board member and past chairman of Long Beach Day Nursery having served nine years on the board of directors. Because of the great respect I have for this worthwhile organization I continue to support it financially and to spread the word of the excellent programs and mission of the nursery. I always enjoyed visiting the classrooms and seeing the children happy, engaged and well cared for by the teachers. The nursery has remained a viable institution for 100 years, and I anticipate its continued success for another 100 years!

I have been a board member of Long Beach Day Nursery for 8 years and have been impressed with the commitment of our senior and teaching staffs to our mission of providing the highest quality early care and education to the young children of working parents. As we celebrate our 100th anniversary in 2012, we look forward to another 100 years of serving the Long Beach community!
Having now completed my first term (three years) as a board member, and with my grandson now graduated from Long Beach Day Nursery, the value gained through his near five years of experience from the care and early childhood education provided by Long Beach Day Nursery's caring and skilled teachers and support staff is marked by his smooth transition into kindergarten, with a solid foundation that is so important today. My granddaughter, (who initially enrolled at age six weeks in the infant care program) now age 3, continues at Long Beach Day Nursery in the preschool program at the East branch. On my many visits to both the West branch and East branch facilities, the happy children, classroom organization, programs, and well maintained playgrounds are so appreciated. Also noticeable and important are other services provided such as dental and vision screening. Founded in 1912, Long Beach Day Nursery recognized their 100th anniversary in 2012. I look forward to my continued work with this wonderful organization and I am grateful to the many "friends of Long Beach Day Nursery" who make it possible for Long Beach Day Nursery to continue "to provide quality early care and education for young children of working parents."

Before I became a board member,My grandson was enrolled at Long Beach Day Nursery. Watching his development and growth from age six weeks to now, almost three years, has been the most wonderful experience. I sincerely believe the positive experience he has had at Long Beach Day Nursery has contributed to his development. My granddaughter was also enrolled since age six weeks, and she just turned one. She, too, is benefiting from her experience at the Nursery. I am proud to volunteer my time and effort on behalf of this wonderful organization. While my grandchildren are full pay, the fact that Long Beach Day Nursery can provide assistance for this quality care for children of working parents who could not otherwise afford it is extremely valuable and worthwhile. I hope they continue long into the future.
Long Beach Day Nursery has been providing quality early care and education to the young children of working parents for over 100 years. The Nursery has provided the basis for future academic and social success for many children by providing high quality programs. LBDN is NAEYC Accredited and incorporates Early Child Education "best practices" in the the curriculum. Regular training helps staff develop age-appropriate activities that expose the children to early math and reading skills. It is a pleasure to visit the classrooms and meet the happy, self-confident children.

For over one-hundred years, the Long Beach Day Nursery has provided high-quality day care and preschool learning in a safe, stimulating environment to the families of working parents. Its reputation in our community is exemplary and the quality of childcare and preschool education has developed alongside the best standards and practices of our time. The LBDN enjoys the support of numerous generous patrons, some of whom received their first formal education at the Nursery. The organization is, as its motto claims, before its time and behind every child!
The Long Beach Day Nursery will celebrate its 100th year next year. One hundred years ago it was the vision of Florence Bixby (long before there was concern about support for children of single parents) that children from homes where the Mother had to work in order to support her family should not be forgotten and would continue to learn and grow and receive advantages comparable to those that children in families with a "stay-at-home" Mother received. Women in early Long Beach shared this vision and from the onset the Nursery has been a model for childcare programs across the United States.
The Nursery has developed as it has matured. At the Nursery today, children from infancy to pre-kindergarden ages are challenged to stretch their learning and understandings. They participate in relationship building activities, learn to respect rules and become adept in reading and comprehension skills. Upon graduation they are ready to enter Kindergarden and successfully compete with their peers on all levels.
The Long Beach Day Nursery which began as a vision of one woman and developed with the efforts of those who shared her vision stands as a testament in our community to the belief that every child deserves early childhood preparation which gives him/her a solid foundation for life. May The Long Beach Day Nursery continue to serve this essential service.
The Long Beach Day Nursery has been in existence for over 99 years. In all those years they have continually provided quality care and education for young children of working families. They have kept abreast of current trends in early childhood education. They conduct yearly hearing, dental, and vision screenings. The children learn healthy eating habits and manners at meal times. The Raise A Reader program exposes children to libraries and their wealth of books at an early age.
The staff have all had early childhood education training and are encouraged to continue their education through classes and inservices.
The Long Beach Day Nursery is an amazing facility! I was asked to be a board member over two years ago and at that time, I didn’t know very much about the facility. The child care provided, for the youth of our city, is incredible. Top rated, award winning educational programs, compassionate teachers and dedicated administrators are a few examples of what you’ll find at the nursery. Additionally, charming décor with clean facilities, filled with laughter and love, is evident everywhere!
Many people don't know that before I came to work for Long Beach Day Nursery, I was a client. My daughter was about 15 months old when I enrolled her after what was luckily only a six months wait on the waiting list. I was impressed with the way the staff worked with me and developed strategies to ensure that my daughter had a smooth transition into a new setting. They were sensitive to her needs as well to my needs. My experience was so positive that I eventually came to work here!
I have 2 children that went through the program of the LBDN. The start they got helped them in their years of school with one being a college graduate and the other being a 3rd year university student studying to become an elementary level teacher. The amount of love they received there made it so that both children returned on a regular basis for many years to see the teachers they had come to love so much. Now, after a great number of years of being done with the schooling, I have become involved as a volunteer board member so that I could give back to the organization that gave so much to my family.
