Mission: The principal purpose of the organization is to create a workforce preparation and employment system designed to meet the needs of the area's businesses and jobseekers pursuant to the workforce investment act (wia).
Programs: The federal workforce investment act (wia) offers a comprehensive range of workforce development activities. Available workforce development activities provided in local communities can benefit job seekers, laid off workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities and employers.
the earn program is designed to assist clients in their transition from welfare to the workforce. The focus of all programming is to decrease dependency on public assistance and move towards self sufficiency. While to primary focus of the program is to move clients into the workforce, the program is still to provide other activities that will aid in the pursuit of that goal.
the h1b program will lead to employment in advanced manufacturing; in- demand occupations for which companies in southwestern pennsylvania utilize the h1b visa program including logisticians; industrial engineers; mechanical engineers; electrical engineers; computer programmers and sales engineers and other manufacturing-related positions in the career path of these, such as general & operations managers; industrial production managers; mechatronics engineers; costs estimators; numerical tool and process control programmers; inspectors; production, planning quality control systems managers; industrial production managers; first-line supervisors/managers of production and oeprating workers are crucial occupations for advanced manufacturing, and the industry that regularly utilizes the h1b visa program.
