Having been a volunteer at Live Oak Clinic of Brazosport since they opened in 2007, I have seen lives changed. It is an all volunteer clinic for the indigent uninsured. Caring for non-urgent, chronic health conditions, it prescribes $4.00 generic medications whenever possible, limited labs and diet & lifestyle counseling. Approximately 40 volunteers (including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, computer entry and support staff) gather 3 evenings a month. Accepting no federal or state money, it depends entirely on donations from the community to fulfill its mission.
