Our son attended LTH and he had a wonderful experience. He just had the opportunity to learn through exploration. He learned expression through art. Kids learn to care for their community and the planet they live in. They develop empathy through interaction with peers, community, environment and animals. Academically he developed good reading skills and he was well prepared for KG. Lia and the staff are absolutely wonderful. The kids also learned in both English and Spanish.
Little Tree Huggers was the perfect experience for our son. Spending his early days learning in a natural outdoor environment was both nurturing and educational. We’re so happy to have been able to watch him gain an appreciation for nature and environmental sustainability at such an early age. Thank you Little Tree Huggers!
We love LTH! It is a wonderful school that teaches the most important things - how to take care of our planet, each other, and ourselves. They foster creativity and passion. I look forward to hearing about their hard work on the farm each day! I wouldn’t want to send my children anywhere else and feel so lucky to have found them!
Its been 3 years since my son went to LTH loving place with lots of outdoor interest for my son. Loved the owners and kept in touch with teachers since
Both of my children have attended Little Tree Huggers Preschool. Ms. Lia Johnson does amazing work! The preschool is a the perfect place for kids to grow up in harmony with nature and animals. It’s amazing to see how environmentally conscience my children are at a young age. This outlook will carry on, hopefully into adulthood, and is thanks to Little Tree Huggers. I’m very confident in saying my children couldn’t have received a better pre-school experience!
Little Tree Huggers offered our son a unique and differentiated experience! As the parents of five children, we had experienced a couple different types of preschools -- small church-based programs to medium-sized programs offered by the county, etc. And, we feared those programs would not meet the learning style of our fifth child, who is very active and is a hands-on learner. He thrived under the tutelage of Mrs. Lia and her team! As a family, we valued the interaction with nature and animals, the way the students worked as a team, and the exposure to Spanish! We highly recommend this program!
Little tree huggers is an amazing school! With the most incredible teachers and people all around! Their mission and overall message is one of love and inspiration. LTH is the best environment for children to learn how to be magnificent. It is the greatest location and program for children to learn how to appreciate themselves and how to treat and take care of our Mother Earth. I am so thankful to have my daughter be a part of this wonderful environment!
Amazing school! With amazing people! Their mission and overall message is one of love and inspiration. They do great at shaping the young minds to care for themselves and one another. They teach these young kids how to better the earth and through daily affirmations love themselves. My daughter absolutely loves being apart of the LTH team! I’m proud of all the work they do and proud to no my daughter is a little tree hugger!!!
Both our daughters have attended Little Tree Huggers, we believe it to be a real treasure in the Loudoun community. For their preschool years, we wanted them to be safe, cared for, and in an environment that fostered a love of learning. LTH has provided that and so much more! Lia, George, and their family and fabulous staff have created a learning environment and culture that benefits not just current and past students, but the entire community.
We are so thankful to be a part of the Little Tree Huggers community! The Johnson family has built more than an eco-friendly preschool; they have built a community to share in mutual love and respect for the people and the world around us. Our son is thriving due to their hard work and efforts. We see him more attune to the world around him, more gentle and patient, and a greater willingness to try new experiences. Thank you for all you do!
I have known Little Tree Huggers (LTH) founder and Director, Lia D. Johnson, since 1987 and her dedication and love for children and sustainability has only grown over the years. Miss Lia opened LTH in 2015 and by 2016 she had already earned her first sustainability award! Fast forward to 2023 and she not only doubled LTH’s enrollment and wildlife sanctuary, but also earned Loudoun County’s first ever Small Business Sustainability Award, along with the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School Award for Sustainability!
