Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Adult Education, Education, Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: To assist adults in need of basic reading and english language skills.
Results: Students: LVA provides free literacy services to adults over the age of 16 who need instruction in Adult Basic Education (ABE) or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Tutors: LVA trains and provides professional development programs to tutors, teachers, and support staff. These programs train participants to utilize instructional strategies and techniques for low, intermediate, and high-level adult students.
Target demographics: LVA provides free literacy services to adults, 16 years and older, and out of the school system.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 900 adults
Geographic areas served: We are dedicated to providing literacy instruction for adults, enabling them to attain personal, educational, and career goals.
