Programs: Individuals or referring agencies requesting financial assistance for the purchase of eyeglasses. If the individuals or families meet the financial needs requirement, the lions club of san antonio charity fund purchases the eyeglasses through texas state optical. It is the usual policy of the charity fund through its sight conversation committee to respond favorably to the requests of school children first, but adults of all ages are given eyeglasses if funds allow.
support texas lions camp for crippled children located in kerrville, tx. The funds are used in developing the facilities as well as the operation of the camp facilities. Youngsters are recruited throughout our community. To qualify, the child must be physically handicaped (visually impaired, hearing impaired, physically handicappe), between the ages of seven and sixteen, or be an insulin dependent diabetic, between the ages of seven and seventeen. No charge is assessed to the parents of those yougsters who are eligible to attend, and there is not any requirement to show financial need to qualify for the camp experience.
provide individual assistance for special medical equipment and clothing for special need children and families. Occasionally, financial assistance is provided for special needs (orthopedic shoes, artificial eyes, wheelchairs, etc. ) for those individuals and families that have a financial need.

We contribute to several organizations that are supported by lions clubs throughout our district and internationally, and are a coordinated effort to assist those with hearing loss, blindness, disaster relief, or diabetes. We also provide some support to the rehabilitation department of the san antonio association for the blind.
