Mission: To restore and maintain a permanent museum in brookfield, linn county, mo for the education, study, recreational enjoyment and preservation of historical artifacts pertaining to the city of brookfield and the surrounding area.
Programs: The tillman house was given to the linn county historical society-museum to use as a museum in august of 2009. The house had not been used for many years and was in need of repairs and restoration. The local community has rallied around us with substantial donations of money, time and work. We have in the past year replaced the roof, several of the windows, over half of the wraparound porch (including columns and cupolas), torn down the back porch, tuck pointed half of the brick work, had all of the plumbing replaced in the basement and first floor, repaired some of the flooring and cleaned ,cleaned, cleaned. We also have been taking donation of articles of historic value to the brookfield and linn county area. Our hope is to show what we have and let people know our vision for the future which includes, rotating collections, local history, an audio visual room where people can listen to and view people that have been interviewed and recorded for future generations, to have programs for school children as well as civic organizations. To preserve our community's history. To give our community opportunities of discovering our collected past. We were open 3 days a week for 4 months and plan to open again in the spring. We presently have 192 members. We served over 500 people this past year with tours of the museum. We have presented programs at 5 different civic organizations.
