Our family is active in the Kinship program in Hayward. My grandson enjoys the activities they provide and it gives us grandparents needed respite. There are times at the family events that we have a chance to win prizes and the kids are presented with a gift at Christmas time. There are support groups if you want to participate in too. Lincoln Child Center is a valuable non-profit organization.

I am raising my younger sister and I participated in their Kinship program in 2011 and 2012. They have great activities and outings on Saturdays for the children. It was nice to have a few hours of time to myself and know that my sister was with people that could be trusted and she was having a great time. All of their Kinship staff was so great with the kids. They took the time to get to know each child, treated them with kindness and respect, and were overall great people. A few months ago, I moved out Alameda County and sadly I am no longer able to use their services. I have joined another Kinship program in another county and their services and activities don't compare to what Lincoln had to offer. I really miss the Lincoln Kinship staff and feel that they made a big difference in our lives.

They also offer support group meetings for the caregivers, which was a good benefit to me when I needed advice on how to handle situations with my sister and/or her absent mother.

My grandson raymond Thorstenson has been helped a great deal by Lincoln services. He is ADD and ADHD and is in need of every service they can provide. There are no others out there that have helped or even offered to help me with getting custody and raising Raymond. Please help our families with these needs.

Having volunteered at numerous LCC events in the past few years I've come to appreciate LCC's focus on not just the emotionally troubled youth but also the family. The organization recognizes that the children needs both a nurturing school environment and a nurturing home to thrive and succeed. Most of all, I've witnessed the care, compassion and wholehearted dedication of the staff toward their mission.

My experience while volunteering at Lincoln has shown me how the work of an organization can directly help the population it serves. It gives me great hope. Lincoln is truly getting involved, and helping build futures and opportunity for the disenfranchised and disadvantaged in the bay area. I am grateful that organizations with his kind of heart and passion exist. Others would do well to see how effective Lincoln is at transforming communities.

Lincoln Child Center recognizes that some of the most important relationships that we will have in our lifetimes are with family. However, some of our children have lives and relationships that are broken, stressed, or nonexistent. Lincoln Child Center helps to foster loving environments for our young people and let them know that they are special, cared for and valuable.

I became involved through a family member who was passionate about the mission of LCC. I continue to stay involved because I am inspired by the terrific staff that works so hard to support children and families in the community. The organization is constantly working to ensure programs meet the needs of children and families, whether it is to provide parenting support, school-based services to keep kids in school, therapeutic support, support for those raising relatives' children or programs to inspire truant teens to continue to attend school while learning entrepreneurial skills (among other programs).

The menu of program offerings is rich with options and specific targeted outcomes. From frontline staff to senior leadership, the people of LCC give heart and mind to their work. It continues to be a privilege to be a part of Lincoln as it answers the needs of thousands of families and stays nimble in a time of great social and financial challenges.

I took some training at Lincoln Child Center recently. The trainings that they provided have been very beneifical and rewarding. While at the trainings, I observed how staff respected the trainers and treinees. I can understand why they received the 2012 Award. During my volunteer experience, I have been treated with respect and fairness. I really enjoy the coordinator, other staff, and volunteers at the Beehive. I can tell that all are very caring, compassionate, and competent staff. I liked planting the vegetables and plants while volunteering.

I have encountered highly skilled professionals at all levels- from staff to administrative. Often serving the most vulnerable of children, Lincoln Child Center continues to believe and invest in children that many have given up on. Their strengths-based approach develops skills and abilities, no matter where a child is on his or her developmental path. A commitment to restorative justice helps reach for healing and new goals, even if a person previously chose tragic strategies to try to meet needs.

After many years of having a job, I suddenly found myself unemployed. Seeking something worthwhile to do while searching for a new job, I decided to volunteer at Lincoln Child Center. Initially I thought I would only volunteer at this non-profit’s annual fundraising gala event. However, as I learned more about the many different programs and services it provides to vulnerable and emotionally troubled children and their families, I eventually became an on-going volunteer mainly working with the development and marketing team. I am happy to share that once again I volunteered at this year’s Culinary Stars of the Bay tasting extravaganza benefiting Lincoln Child Center! Overall, my experience volunteering at Lincoln Child Center has been incredibly enriching as well as very rewarding.

I have been involved with the Lincoln Child Center in Oakland Ca for the past 10 years. Through my organization we have worked with many of the LCC staff, met the children and families that they serve, and helped to raise funds year after year. We do this and I do this because I know the struggles that families face in the current environment and how so many children are abandoned, abused, and left without anyone to really care for them. LCC is the beacon of hope for many children in the SF Bay area who have experienced some type of trauma in their lives that is no fault of their own. LCC provides the care; nurturing, education, and emotional support that children and their families need to survive and eventually become good citizens even though they have experience traumatic events in their lives. The dedication of the LCC staff is unwavering and they work tirelessly through economic ups and downs because when the day is done, they are helping to secure a healthy future for the clients that they serve, as well as the communities.

I'm new to the board, but I'm already impressed with the board makeup and the executive staffing at Lincoln. Lincoln is focused on what it does best - helping underserved and special needs children in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Through their 9 programs Lincoln has helped scores of children become successful when no one else would. It is an honor to serve an organization that is out there making a difference in the lives of so many children.

I have been greatly impressed by the events held in support of L.C.C. as well as the very noteworthy work they are doing for our youth in need. There is nothing like Lincoln Child Center in the Bay Area that serves this type of population and is sorely needed. The expertise and caring from the staff and volunteers is evident in all they do. It is a group that I feel confidant in supporting by donating money, time and effort. Their results are obvious.

I have served on the Lincoln Child Center Board for the past 17 years, during which time I have served as its Board Chair and Chair of practically all of its Board committees. This evidences my commitment to an organization that does a wonderful job of serving the needs of at risk youth, their families and their communities. Through a comprehensive set of programs -- from residential treatment to academic enrichment to therapeutic treatment and beyond -- Lincoln is able to prepare its clients for life outside of institutional settings where they can reach levels of success that years of abuse put practically beyond their reach. Lincoln restores hope and provides coping tools that put its clients in "a place" that is easily attained by children who are raised in loving, supportive, enriching environments.

Lincoln is going through a transition as it moves away from providing residential services that have been a major component of its service delivery regime. I am confident that Lincoln will exit this transition as a strong, stable organization with programs that meet the needs of the communities that Lincoln serves. I am excited about the intensified community-based direction that the organization is taking because it will allow Lincoln to be even more impactful than it has been.

Lincoln Child Center has enjoyed a long, rich history of providing critical services to vulnerable children in the Bay Area. We provide intensive mental health services, community-based wrap-around services, school-based services, and a nonpublic school program located on our campus high in the Oakland hills. Lincoln's programs have adapted through the years to community health needs and therapeutic trends. Today, we serve over 1000 children in two counties and 17 schools.

Lincolln Child Center ("LCC") is a great non-profit that offers assistance to a marginalized population of Oakland. These kids are in need of support which is provided by the staff of LLC. Children who are often over looked are placed front and center. They are encouraged to flourish and their families are given the support necessary.

LLC has been able to keep programs that assist their emotionally and physically abused kids through art and sports. LCC is an established presence in Alameda County.

This organization does wonders for a population that is rarely given a voice let alone a chance to succeed in this world.

I've been proud to work with foster youth in Alameda County for over ten years now, and my admiration for the work of Lincoln Child Center has grown tremendously during that time. Especially over the past several years - a time of ever intensifying challenges for all human service agencies in California - Lincoln has consistently demonstrated and affirmed its commitment to serving the most vulnerable among us. Its rich array of programs continues to evolve, and its leadership is fully engaged in ensuring that Lincoln is ahead of the curve, always striving to develop better ways to serve children and families impacted by foster care.

Lincoln is an institution - part of Oakland's past, present, and future.

The Lincoln Child Center was introduced to our company, Matsco, in 2000, by one of Lincoln's board member, who was also an employee of Matsco. The employees as well as the CEO, at the time, feel in love with their program. We were very moved by their dedication and commitment in helping these emotionally and vulnerable children in our community. Matsco decided to have a toy drive and help fulfill the children's wish list adn we succeeded. But a handful of employees wanted to do more than provide holiday gifts to the children, we wanted to dedicate our time throughout the year and so a small group of eight decided to call ourselves "The Breakfast club" and we began preparing home cooked breakfasts for the staff and children on a monthly bases. They enjoyed the home cooked breakfasts, so we decided to expand our culinary skills and prepare luncheons and dinners for the kids on campus and continued to do so for years. We changed our name to "The Gourmet Club" and our group grew from 8 volunteers to around 20 and we are currently volunteering our time and dication as of today. What keeps us going is the appreciation from the kids and their smiles and thank you's. They tell us that it reminds them of their home meals and it makes them feel loved. It's all about the children.

I've been lucky enough to volunteer at a few different organizations on the west coast that help kids make it through tough transitions. LCC is top notch for the following reasons: they're flexible with the times, they're unflaggingly committed, and they're passion is uplifting. In a nut shell, they're had working AND fun to be around. I can't think of a better combination.

Lincoln Child Center (with locations and programs in Oakland, Hayward, and Concord, CA) is an amazing resource for families in the East Bay. I am most impressed by their dedicated staff. Whenever I get the change to speak to a Lincoln employee, I am moved by how deeply they care for the families they serve. They are never patronizing or overly judgmental, but instead act as partners to educate parents and care-givers to become the best possible family for the children in their lives. They are always evaluating where the need is and reaching far beyond the child or home to the school and community to effect real change. They are inspiring beyond words and I feel deeply honored to donate my time and money to assist them in their noble efforts.
