As a volunteer, I have learned that the Lighthouse is a wonderful organization that helps people in need - the visually impaired. They have a loving and compassionate staff. They are experts in what they do and help the visually impaired from babies to seniors. There is a great need for their services., and they everything they can to help.

The Lighthouse provides extremely valuable training and services for those that are visually impaired and blind in the Pasco, Hernando and Citrus County areas. The programs reach all generations from the blind babies program to teens and adults. Programs and services provided by the Lighthouse have documented positive outcomes. The staff at the Lighthouse is committed to the organization's mission and making a difference in their client's lives.

I have observed this organization's programs closely. They are very effective by"sticking to their mission" and accomplish a lot for the visually impaired in the Pasco/Hernando county area. They also appear to be efficiently run based on the data in their 990's. Low overhead but a lot of activities and programs for the blind and visually impaired.

Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Council for Blind and Low Vision Services (NAC). NAC is the only accrediting body that solely focuses on standards and best practices for blind and low vision services with the consumer in mind. Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind has demonstrated that it meets or exceeds the standards set by NAC for delivery of blind and low vision services. The determination for accreditation is a rigorous process that involves self-examination by the organization, an on-site peer review to verify processes and procedures by a team of professionals serving in the field and a review of the findings by the NAC Accreditation Committee. NAC congratulates Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind on its accredited status.
