Lighthouse Christian Ministries

LCM seeks to assist all by working as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Through outreach to the needy through food distribution, summer programming for kids, adult education and pregnancy assistance, LCM continues to serve the local community with expertise and most of all, love.

Erika and her team lead a wonderful organization serving folks needing services for survival in Bacliff and the surrounding community. They are kind, easy to work with and elevate the lives of many!

Lighthouse Ministries has been a powerful presence in Bacliff, and for much of the Galveston area. As a resident of Santa Fe, and a worker in Galveston itself, I've seen the economic divide that occurs between the North and the South edges of the county, and I'm happy to see a God centered ministry reach across that divide.

Lighthouse offers a number of services from food preparation to resale ministries, education, and more. But most importantly, Lighthouse Ministries provides much needed support to local people in crisis.

This is such an effective ministry for our community! They serve a very high need area and they do it at such a high level of quality. This ministry must train their volunteers or just attract really good ones because the people who serve there are very professional and kind.

The staff and volunteers are SO welcoming and helpful. It doesn't matter what you do or how well you do it, they're happy to have you as a part of the team.

Lighthouse has helped me get my life back together in many ways. I'm so grateful for the support Lighthouse has given me. Here are just a few of the things they have helped me with studying for GED, mentoring, transportation, school supplies for my daughter etc. I am forever thankful for Lighthouse Christian ministries.

I went here to check out the thrift shop, and found out this place has so much more to offer. I also picked up food here which lasted my family 2 week, and now i am attending the GED program here which far exceed my expectation they have 4 teachers that are very experienced and want you to pass. I recommend this place to anyone to see what they can help you with.

I am in the G.E.D. program right now and I'm really happy with the teacher. They take the time to make sure you understand the material that you are are working. I will recommend the program to my friends.

Lighthouse Christian Ministries is a welcoming place. As soon as you walk in people are welcoming you and if you need any of their services.

We have volunteered to distribute food, move furniture, and observed the GED program. We get excited every time we go down to give out food. It is so organized and well coordinated. The people we serve are so polite and so appreciative. The LCM supports so many needs and opportunities for the Baycliff community. We have been so impressed we are planning to get more involved.

I have volunteered for LCM with food distribution, furniture moving and the new garden at the elementary school. Everyone I have interacted with has been open and very helping. The thing that has impressed me the most has been the involvement of the Baycliff community in supporting LCM like a family supports each other.

Lighthouse Christian Ministries strives to meet needs as well as empower, a wonderful combination! They meet the physical needs of health and sustenance through their medical programs and food pantry. They meet the emotional needs of their clients through their many programs that build confidence and self-reliance. Spiritually, they lift up their clients through personal prayer and support. Lighthouse is a beacon of hope in their community!

I teach in the GED classes and love seeing people identify and attain their goals. Not only do class members master lifelong knowledge in writing, math, science and social studies, but they work towards the achievement of their high school equivalency credential. In addition, students and teachers form relationships of trust, support, and respect. Finally, God's presence and support are evident in providing strength and hope.

I love Lighthouse Christian Ministries. My daughter hurt her shoulder and was able to see the dr. right away. They gave her a prescription and 3 days later was able to go back to work. I volunteer for Toys for Tots and the program is such a blessing. My grandchildren live with me and they were able to receive toys too. I've done the kitchen for Kidz Dayz for 3 years. This is a great program. Every 2nd Saturday they have a meal, program, give food and help you anyway you need it. Thank you for blessing so many families.

A lighthouse has always been a beacon of hope for poeple who may be lost in the fog or dont know where to turn in a time of need. Lighthouses have always provided guidence to those that need it and is a truely vital resource for the community. Lighthouse Christian Ministries is all these things and more to a community and its surrounding area that is very lucky to have such wonderful people that care so much to provide all this light, hope, guidence, and direction.

LCM has an incredible heart for the downtrodden. With a staff and volunteers who care, they do whatever it takes to help people. And they are willing to try new services, such as providing free classes to young men and women who struggle to pass the exam that tests knowledge and aptitude required for joining the US military.

The best thing about Lighthouse is the stories! Every week I get to see real lives impacted through the relationships that are being built as neighbors serve neighbors. Life transformation is happening in very real and tangible ways through the shining of Christ's love into the communities of Bacliff, Bayview, and San Leon by the folks in and around Lighthouse Christian Ministries.

Lighthouse is like a second home for me . It began as my safe haven when I was having a rough time with postpartum depression . I attended parenting classes and earned "baby bucks" for products. Being there for me out of my shell. After time passed of me attending I learned about other services such as life 101 201 & 301 and faith and finances that basically got me where I am today as one of there scholarship students. If it weren't for them I'd probably wouldn't of been able to get my life on track and find my niche. This place is so welcoming I find myself going back to volunteer so I can still feel the special feeling I get around these people and their great team. Even now when I get off track they seem to get me back where I need to be . I recently attended counseling they offered to me and their counselor Cindy they work with is awesome. I am also about to attend another course through Cindy through the lighthouse and can't wait to be back in the essence of this non profit company and the community. They offer so much that there is bound to be something there that can help you or some one you know . They are very resoursful.

I was in a situation with many obstacles stacked against me. Lighthouse Christian Ministries helped me get into school and is sticking with me through the end to help me continue to be successful. I dont know what I would have done with out them! Erika, my mentor Dalayna and the whole LCM have been such a blessing!

LCM is instrumental in reaching people's needs not available by other means. They continue to look for ways to help the community and bring care to the under-resourced. They truly care.

Lighthouse Christian Ministries is a key player in changing lives in the Galveston Bay Area. Through a community of volunteers Lighthouse is able to offer programs for short-term financial assistance, food insecurity setbacks, basic health /dental care, and educational opportunities (GED program, Community College entrance, Parenting Classes, etc). Each year Lighthouse holds a community fundraiser in which the increasing accomplishments are highlighted as well as bringing attention to areas in need of future volunteers and community involvement. The leadership team at Lighthouse is dedicated to leading clients, as well as staff, in following Christ through faith and accountability partners. This is an organization based on teaching low-income, disadvantaged individuals and families how to be more self sufficient while at the same time giving back once your circumstances improve.

I am working with Lighthouse Christian Ministries to help set up a community garden to provide food and education to the area of Bacliff. The organization is well run by people who love and serve their community. They are dedicated to the improvement of people's lives by helping them temporarily with basic needs and long term with education, job placement, spiritual guidance and mentoring. When we need materials or volunteers for the garden, the staff at Lighthouse Christian Ministries is quick to respond. It is not an exaggeration to say they know everyone in the area and they give us a name to help us. I also volunteer at the food distribution they organize sponsored by the Houston Food Bank. I pull one of the wagons around helping individuals get their generous supply of fresh meat and produce. The food allocation is done with such respect and love for the receiving families that I feel I am at a family reunion. I recently helped with Lighthouse Christian Ministries' version of vacation bible school which lasted every week day in July. Daily, close to 100 children were fed physically and spiritually with songs, games, talks, and crafts. The kids painted garden signs for us to identify produce in the garden beds and made a garden banner with their hand prints as leaves on a tree. Again, the children were loved and cared for by people who were like family. I love working with this organization because their clients are not just numbers but neighbors who are loved and served as if Christ were among them.

I have volunteered with LCM for a few years! They are really on mission to help the people of their community by providing education assistance, medical and dental care, and much more!

I have been coming for the past two years to the lighthouse Christians ministries to the GED classes.
The teachers are so great and helpful .This program have been helping me a lot. soon I will be taking the GED test.

I have been volunteering at LCM for several years, and the work I've been a part of as well as what I've observed going on around me is phenomenal. I've seen the community being impacted in numerous positive ways. It's my belief that the greatest reason for LCM's success is that God is in the midst of all that is being done there. You feel His presence when you enter the building, and you continue to see Him as you encounter the staff. I feel very blessed to be a part of LCM's volunteer team.

LCM is helping me to get my GED after being out of school for25 years ! The teachers "Bend over Backwards" to help students in any way they can. There are several outreach programs besides the GED program. They offer help with medical , dental, community service ,food pantry, parenting classes and more ! LCM are truly GOD'S FEET AND HANDS in a community that really needs them.

I'm a volunteer for the GED program, and also a client for food. The Lighthouse is very helpful in meeting the needs of individuals in the community!!

Lighthouse Christian Ministries is amazing. They have so many programs for the community than I can not begin to name them. They have a food bank, a medical clinic, a dental clinic, a kids program in the summer, a program for expectant mothers, a GED program, among others. I volunteer to teach math in the GED program.

LCM is a great place. They help people and try the best they can. They have many different programs to help and better people and help the ones in need. All the staff is very nice and polite also.

Lighthouse Christian Ministries reaches to all people in the Bacliff, San Leon area. The need here is so great and they do whatever it takes to help all they can. May God continue to bless this ministry and its workers.

LCM is an organization I tell people about all the time. Where the rubber hits the road, they are there to help those in need. We've seen countless people helped by their ministry as well as, heard stories about their work in the community.

We've personally helped out @ their 2nd Saturday celebration & different school drives. We donate to them & know that our donation is going to help those in need.

I have had the opportunity to work with Lighthouse Christian Ministries for almost 2 years and am amazed at the teamwork, commitment and passion they all have for their ministry and the clients they serve. It all shines through into the community and the Galveston County Food Bank is blessed to work with them in multiple capacities. I have had the privilege of being involved with Lighthouse for the last 15+ years. In the beginning, our church would serve LCM with food drives a few times a year. As I got closer to LCM, I began to see how the mission to serve their neighbors in need was motivated by a love for God and a love for people.
I think their name perfectly exemplifies who they are--a light pointing those who are tossed about by the struggles of life to the very solid foundation of Jesus Christ. The staff and volunteers treat every person with value, respect and love. I love LCM's commitment to their community--to meet the immediate needs of food, shelter, clothing as well as to encourage those who can to develop through the GED and scholarship programs. Many non-profits begin to slip away from their original mission but LCM has stayed true and focused and effective!! I am so glad to be able to witness first hand their impact in our area!

I have been blessed to be involved with Lighthouse since the beginning-my parents founded it way back in 1997! Seeing the growth of LCM and the lives this ministry has impacted has been such an incredible experience, and an amazingly faith affirming for me as well. There are no words to express my gratitude for this ministry, or my gratitude for every single person involved. LCM has been the most humbling, awe inspiring, faith affirming experience in my life. If you are in need, or are looking for a ministry to get involved with, this in an amazing place filled with genuine people!

2008 was a crazy and difficult year for me. Half the time I was living with my drug and alcohol addicted husband and the other half I, along with my 2 year old daughter, were living by the mercies of others. We were sleeping on people's couches or in extra bedrooms because my husband lost another job and we couldn't pay rent or he had run off and abandoned us, yet again, for months at a time. It took every ounce of strength I had to stand tall, be responsible and be the best mother I could be for my little girl. Then, after some routine tests, my doctor found several tumors, cysts and even a malignant nodule on my ovaries. I needed to have surgery or I wasn't going to make it. My spirit was broken. Every time I looked at my sweet little girl I wondered what in the world would happen to her if I died. My emotions were out of control and I could hardly hold myself together from one moment to another. One day after serving in Galveston I went by the Lighthouse to drop off some things. My friend, Carla, one of the volunteers at Lighthouse, saw me and asked me how I was doing. I fell apart as I told her a few of the details. She wrangled some of the other volunteers together. Everyone just stopped what they were doing and brought me upstairs where they put their arms around me and prayed over me. Some of them I had never even met before that day but they stopped everything they had going on to show me the love of the Holy Spirit. They must have prayed over me for over 20 minutes and when they were done my spirit was lifted and new friendships were forged. I knew that I was not alone and that I could do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
That was almost 7 years ago now. I am cancer free and married to an amazing man, going on two years!! My new husband was granted a scholarship in the bachelor program at U of H, through Lighthouse Christian Ministries. Lighthouse has blessed me and my family so much through the years; through prayer, through work, through service, through the scholarship program and they even helped pay for me to get my surgery! I live in Bacliff and I can tell you first hand that Lighthouse is a shining light and a beautiful reflection of God's love in my community. Thank you LCM!!!

I've been interested in the work of Lighthouse Christian Ministries for almost 10 years.

The first of those years, I was simply an amazed pedestrian, marveling at the work that they did and the effect that they had on the Bacliff community.

But the Lighthouse has a way of drawing you in. If you get too close, there's a gravitational pull to get you involved, to share in the many ministries that they offer.

Six years ago, I began to give my time and financial resources wherever I was needed. With my counseling background, I've been able to serve in both the benevolence and scholarship programs and it has enriched my life more than I could have ever imagined.

The administration of the services rendered is first-rate. The attention to detail and the commitment to transparent stewardship of their resources is impeccable.

It's hard to find an organization that commits 100% of donations back into the community.

If you want to make a measurable impact on people in need, look no further than Lighthouse Christian Ministries. They are doing great work, changing lives in the Bay Area every day.

My primary association with Lighthouse Christian Ministries is through the scholarship program. While the program does offer financial assistance, once accepted into the program students receive so much more than just financial aid. Every student is assigned a mentor who meets with the student regularly, providing encouragement and prayer support, in addition to guiding them through the many ups and downs that come with navigating the Texas higher education system. It is common for students and mentors to regularly work together on issues of budgeting, childcare, transportation and spiritual health, all issues that effect the students ability to stay on track with their planned course of study. Additionally, all mentors meet regularly together to discuss how their students are doing, supporting each other in learning the best ways to resolve issues with the Federal Pell Grant system, FAFSA, and the various courses of study offered by the universities and community colleges in the area.

I love how they do not just give handouts. They try to give the neighbors in need a life skill, whether it is schooling or training or something else. LCM wants their neighbors in need to get a sense of accomplishment and LCM wants to help them help themselves. This is the kind of attitude that will help this world, not just giving free handouts. And best of all, LCM does all this while focusing on Christ and showing their neighbors in need that He is truly the only one that can rescue them.

As a volunteer, I have been able to view first hand just a few of the services that Lighthouse offers the local community. One service they offer is the free medical clinic, where twice a month I serve along side nurses and doctors who truly are gifts from God. Lighthouse Medical Clinic fills the gap left between "free medical insurance" and "affordable health insurance", and sees men, women and children from all over Galveston County and beyond. Patients are seen for everything from the common cold to recovery from major health issues and the volunteers truly do show the love of God to each and every one of them. Thank you Lord for Lighthouse Christian Ministries and all it's staff and hundreds of volunteers, you truly are the guiding light to those who are lost during a dark time in their life...

As one of the local pastors in the area, we look to Lighthouse to make up the difference with services to the community we cannot provide at Bayview Christian Center. They are an awesome group of folks who truly care about the needs of the local community and we are proud to partner with them in ministry. Another great benefit of Lighthouse Christian Ministries is if we have someone who wants to volunteer outside the church setting; they always have something going on needing help.
