Mission: To provide free food, health/nutritional products, household cleaning supplies,household staples and to provide health/nutritional education to income challenged senior citizens, disabled persons, children and unemployed individuals in dent county.
Programs: We assisted 14,624 indiviuals with food and household staples who were income challenged due to age, handicaps, disabilities, or unemployed. We also supplied them with simple food stretching recipes, nutritional information, health tips and other vital information. We assisted 20 families with clothing, furniture and household items. We gave 304 gas vouchers to cancer patients who have to travel over 30 miles or more for chemo or radiation treatment since we don't have a nearer facility that can provide those services. We assisted 8 families with utilities due to crisis situations.
The Lifeway Center is a local community service organization that includes the county's largest food pantry (Shepherd's Nook), providing food assistance to 15% of the local population, hard hit by the recession and economic turmoil. The staff is all-volunteer, and also supported by local churches. The founding church is salemfullgospel.com.
