When we retired to HHI several years ago, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this outstanding senior education program. After my initial experience as a student, I volunteered to be an Instructors Assistant. The variety of courses offered and the quality and expertise of the instructors is amazing. I couldn't be happier that a high level educational program of this nature is available to seniors on HHI. Lifelong Learning is aptly named and is one of the true treasures on HHI for seniors.

I have been a member since 2001 when we moved to Hilton Head full time. We did no know many people and I missed participating in volunteer organizations. I was amazed with the work LLHHI was doing and as the years have passed and I have worked for LLHHI in many capacities and made so many new friends. Living on an island, as wonderful as it is, is not just about golf and tennis and the beach. Expanding your knowledge of the world is always a way to keep your brain working. The teachers, all volunteers, are your peers and have so much to share. I couldn't be happier with this experience.

I am happy to tell you that since moving to Hilton Head full time in 2005, I have been a happy participant in Life Long Learning Hilton Head. I really look forward to the catalogs they send out listing coursed being offer each season and have be suprised every year by the number of classes available to members and their guests. The variety is amazing from art classes to in depth economics to cemeteries (particularly interesting on our island) to yoga to , really anything you can think of and if they don't have something you'd like to see , they'll generally have it during a later season. I have loved it and looking forward to my first class this season on Tuesday of this week. I think this group of local citizens had created a top notch educational and entertaining venue, particularly their us of local retirement homes for many of the local super seniors can walk right into some new informative classes at their doorsteps. Our organizers face a heavy load, constantly thinking of new classes , accomodating suggestions for new classes, securing quality speakers for these classes, securing venues for their presentations, developing a catalog for each new season and so on and so on. Hooray for them. thanks for supplying this spot so I can gladly sing the praises of LLHH. Carolyn Shipka

Psychologist Erik Erikson taught us that there is no retirement age for those who love to learn. Might we also say there is no retirement age for making new friends. Thus, classes at Lifelong Learning of Hilton Head Island are filled with people who love to learn and engage in informed conversations with one another. Islander's quest for arts and cultural enrichment is met with multiple courses in each semester. In addition issues of local concern impacted by national and global events also provide a platform for discussion in class and after ... at the dinner table.

Here on this little island off the South Carolina coastline is the best Lifelong Learning Association ever!

I’ve been privileged to have lived in several locations that offered Lifelong Learning association programs and each has found a special place in my heart, but I have to admit that the Lifelong Learning of Hilton Head Island (LLHHI) is the cream of the crop.

It is the nuances and subtleties of this special island Lifelong Learning community that creates an exceptional feeling. Classes are held in pleasant and comfortable island locations that include the community rooms of several of the islands retirement communities and each of these island locations is easy to get to and is close to home.

It all combines in a very special way to promote making new friends while learning new things.

I have been involved with this organization for over ten years as a student, teacher and committee member. What continues to amaze me are the people who are involved in every aspect of the organization. The talent, energy and intellect on offer are second to no other organization offering peer-led learning. And the price can’t be best!

Eager to get involved in community activities after we retired to HIlton Head, I was quick to jump on the bandwagon with Lifeong Learning of Hilton Head Island. This is an amazing organization comprised of all volunteers who give a tremendous amount of their time to produce extremely high quality courses. The teacher ( instructors) are top notch academics, attorneys, artists, scientists, physicians and musicians who deliver amazing programs. I have met so many likeminded people within this organization and couldn’t be happier.....

Lifelong Learning of Hilton Head Island (LLHHI) is a wonderful organization that truly supports the joy of learning. When I retired from medicine and moved to Hilton Head 25 years ago, I looked for a community of people who were curious, wanted to explore their interests, tell their stories and share their passions. It was a privilege to serve as a founding member and instructor. It is still a pleasure to belong to a group of adults who love to teach, to learn and to make new friends. Join Lifelong Learning of HHI and you'll continue to write new chapters in your own life's stories.

I'm very covetous of the LLHHI program! I'm not a resident of the island but visit once or twice a year with family. I look forward to being a guest at whatever sessions are offered at the time and have never been disappointed. I even enjoy following the curriculum from afar. There is such a scope of subject matter, either timely or timeless, and always engaging and thought-provoking. Any HHI resident who is not taking advantage of these classes is missing a huge opportunity for intellectual growth and stimulation.

I HAVE ATTENDED ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES GIVEN BY THIS GROUP FOR THE LAST 9 YEARS, AND I HAVE TAUGHT TWO CLASSES THERE. ABOUT 20 COURSES ARE GIVEN IN THE FALL'S 6-WEEK TERM , AND ANOTHER 20 IN THE SPRING'S 8-WEEK TERM.MEMBERS ARE MOSTLY RETIREES , EAGER TO LEARN, AND ALL OF THE VENUES ARE ON THE ISLAND. GREAT LEARNING, GREAT ENTERTAINMENT, AT A BARGAIN PRICE. IF YOU WERE TO ATTEND ALL THE CLASSES, YOUR "TUITION" WORKS OUT TO ABOUT 38 CENTS/HOUR. YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT THE COURSE VARIETY , AND THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE INSTRUCTORS, FROM ACTORS TO MUSICIANS TO COLLEGE PROFS TO THE CHIEF OF THE cHEROKEE TRIBE. COME AS A GUEST TO ONE CLASS- YOU WILL ENJOY IT.

This is an extraordinary program. I have been a speaker twice at Lifelong Learning of Hilton Head Island (LLHHI) and found the programs to be remarkably well organized and the participants to be very engaged. The breadth of program offerings is particularly impressive.

When I first moved to Hilton Head and, not being a golfer or tennis player, I was eager to find something to fill up the hours between beach walks and biking the beautiful nature trails. I was introduced to Lifelong learning of HIlton Head Island by a friend who was a member of the curriculum committee. From my first class it was perfect fit and I have been signing up for classes ever since. If anyone wants to continue learning after a lifetime of a working career this is the right place for you. The courses are all held on the island which is great because going off island with the traffic can be a nightmare. I cant think of any negatives and if I could rate this organization with more than 5 stars, I would!

This is a fantastic organization which provides a unique opportunity to the residents and visitors to our beautiful island to expand their learning horizons. I am so proud to be a one of the many volunteers who make this program a reality. All the wonderful people who set up and conduct classes are volunteers, no one is on salary. The reward for us is knowing that we have enriched our community with opportunities not found elsewhere.
