Causes: Family Services for Adolescent Parents, Single Parent Agencies
Mission: New Mexico has one of the highest teen parenthood rate in the U.S. We are observing a very high rate of multi-generational teen parenthood, and studies have established that children of teen parents are more likely to be poor, undereducated, involved in family and/or gang violence, have poorer health, and become teen parents themselves. The mission of Life Options Academy is to break this cycle of teen parenthood, poverty and violence by working with young mothers in a safe and supportive environment during the first year of their child's life, helping the young mom learn to parent herself and her child, and to become self-sufficient.
