Mission: Life In Abundance exists to mobilize the local Church and restore health, renew hope and inspire lasting transformation for the world's most vulnerable children and families.
Our transformational development model utilizes an integrated approach that cultivates local leadership through the Church and requires the participation and ownership from the community itself.
Target demographics: break the cycle of poverty in the poorest and most marginalized communities in the world
Geographic areas served: Africa and the Caribbean
Programs: Life In Abundance (LIA) mobilizes the local church to facilitate transformational development among the poor and the vulnerable, primarily children and single mothers. LIA trains and equips local churches, strategically located in hurting communities, so they can meet their communities' most pressing needs. This is done by equipping and coming alongside local churches to address root causes of poverty through integrated programs with sustainable impact.
In 2016, LIA partnered with 176 local churches for transformational development programs in 12 African countries and 2 Caribbean countries. A total of 66,328 people were served, of which 3,152 were served in the orphans and vulnerable children programs and 648 guardians were economically empowered to support and care for their children. 45,084 were served through our community health initiatives, including; 8,008 health education and training, 24,253 received medical provision and 4,530 gained water sanitation and health access and training. Through our economic empowerment programs 2,651 individuals received micro-enterprise training, skill training and were given income generating opportunities.
LIA also has a training center in Nairobi, Kenya. The first two phases of the building project has been completed and the three classes have graduated from the training program. The third phase, an accommodation building, will be completed in 2017.
LIA has also hosted the annual Global Missions Health Conference (GMHC-Africa) for the third time. In 2016, they expanded to offer a pre-conference training for doctors as well as a post-conference for churches and development workers. This conference has now gained accreditation by the Medical Board in Kenya to provide continuing education credits.
Life in Abundance is a wonderful organization that works to empower local groups in Ethiopia, Kenya, as well as other African countries to become self sufficient in alleviating hunger, disease and lack of education in slums and other poverty stricken areas of their communities. I've been to some of their projects in Ethiopia and Kenya and the work and enthusiasm of the people is amazing.
