The life group is a charity that has helped me immensely especially when I joined during lockdown, when it was a time of uncertainty & loneliness for me. It has helped me to overcome those feelings during quarantine by being able to connect with others through their charity and for that I can not sing their praises enough. I’m just happy to have had their support during that difficult time and now.
I have been looking forward to Fridays, at noon, ever since I discovered Life Group LA's webinar series. I discovered it after a friend of mine was a speaker on the topic of looking out for fraudulent services and products, related to coronavirus. Since then, I've attended every webinar, and have seen many excellent presentations on a variety of interesting topics. They have included the power of our words and language on our minds and lives; non-violent communication; the Hawaiian philosophy of respecting elders, and the wisdom gained from long term HIV+ survivors; improving our wellness through the relationships we have with animals; and decluttering our psychic debris as well as decluttering our homes. The most fun event was playing Bingo on a "Friday Fun Day". It took place on my birthday, and was such a wonderful start to the day. Sunnie's helper, Mike, even made me an adorable and humorous card. I hadn't expected to have such an enjoyable birthday, during corona, and this went a long way towards making that happen. I even received a beautiful bracelet in the mail, as a birthday present!
Sunnie Rose Berger does an outstanding job of finding experts on great topics, who are great presenters, as well. Presentations always include slide shows; and time for questions and answers. The webinars are a wonderful way to be in a social situation, within the comfort and safety of my home; and learn about great topics, too.
Along with meeting Sunnie, I have met many other lovely folks, who are regular attendees. I feel so lucky to have discovered this wonderful program; and am looking forward to getting more involved with Life Group LA, when it's safe to do so.
It is an honor and privilege to work with such compassionate and caring volunteers. They are the best in the world. Our presenters are the most approachable, kind, and knowledgeable professionals who donate their time to sharing and empowering the participants with up to date education on HIV, Medications, Complementary Treatments and so much more. Our leadership is unwavering and always supportive. We are humbled by the support of our fellow non profit organizations who share our programs with their clients and staff so that together we can support the community we have committed to serving. It is without a doubt, not only a passion to be of service, but the most rewarding work I have ever done, with a group of like minded loving people. The weekend seminars and one day topic focused seminars are unmatched!
Unconditional LOVE and Support is The Life Group LA. Their founder and the entire volunteer team are focused on bringing HIV awareness to the entire community through Education and Prevention programs along with promoting a better understanding and acceptance of the differences in each of us within our own communities.
Their outreach is evident daily on Social Media.
Their PozLife weekends are EMPOWERING! They provide seminars with information and Education from doctors and other qualified professionals. After each seminar, attendees are broken up into small focus groups which provide a safe environment for open discussions.
Having gone through their intense Facilator course, I gained an even better insight into the daily commitment and dedication from each and every volunteer member of this outstanding organization.
Through my own volunteer work over the years in the HIV community, I have referrered countless individuals to The Life Group LA. Their spirit of cooperation with other local organizations has always been unparalleled.
The Life Group LA operates on a shoe string budget so I am constantly amazed by the quality of services they provide to everyone.
The Lifegroup LA has made my life so much more richer by their education, knowledge and caring ways through their programs and the entire Lifegroup family's tireless and giving nature.
I have become a more confident, informed and educated member of society because of their amazing seminars, workshops all at no cost. Both as an attendee and a volunteer for this wonderful group has made such an impact on my life and those around me.
I cannot think of anything more enriching in my life than when I come out of a workshop or an event of any kind with The LifeGroup LA. The energy and love of all these volunteers is so powerful and loving.
Thank you LifeGroup LA for renewing my life in so many ways
The Lifegroup was introduced to me by a post through friends 4 years ago for trying to help one of their volunteers who had his bike stolen, his only mode of transportation.
Rather than complain or be negative about the situation they told a story of how this person was as upset about his bike being stolen but how he stayed positive that it would show up, the person who took it was desperate or that something better would come in the days or weeks to come.
I then asked the director who made the post “how can I help, can I send a donation to help get a new or used bike to this person? The answer was yes and then I got curious through the Lifegroup LA website and went on to visit and read and watch the videos on it! About 4 months later I volunteered for one of their free Poz life weekends and my life was changed forever!
I was exposed to the caring, loving and supportive work that everyone in this organization does on their own free time for an entire weekend. Not only was I of service with others I saw how they changed and enriched the lives of so many others through education on all levels from helath care, nurtrtion, exercise and self care and not just for attendees infected with HIV but also people affected too; loved ones, spouses, children, caretakers. This is what made me fall in love and continue to be a part of this amazing group.
When I thought I was fully educated with hiv knowledge I’ve learned something new with each and every gathering.
The Lifegroup LA has given me more strength to help, educate and give back to a community that so many of my loved ones are included than I could of ever imagined and continues to do so!
The real amazing part of all their hard work is that it is done without a fee or cost to any persons attending and no paid employees!
All volunteers and free of charge to any and all people is almost unheard these days!
The Lifegroup LA does this and continues to do so with the generous donations from various fund raisers and donations.
I will be forever grateful not only for The LGLA but for their love and work and I will always be a part of them as they are a part of me!
It was five years I took a go that I took your first class. It made such a change in my life. And literally saved my life because of the lifegroup I had answers and I had hope. I just wanted to thank you for all the information and the spirit you gave me to keep going.
Since then I've been in and out of the hospital with kidney failure and other issues. I've never given up volunteered for the rodeo Association here in Palm Springs and thank them for supporting your group with what funds they have given you. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy and getting medical help when I need it and I keep going everyday I work very hard and never give up and I think that came from your group and you're weekends that I spent learning from you and your group.
I love you very much Sonny and thank you very much for everything you did for me but give me strength to keep going I learned a lot from you guys and I wish you all the support and love that you deserve.
Take care I think of you guys all the time and how blessed I was to be a part of your weekend seminars thank you so very much love you forever.
I have been volunteering for the Life Group Los Angeles for 10 years. They are like a family to me. They have helped me grown to be a good humble Samaritan who values life and others. The Life Group's mission has shown me that living life with good health and responsibility are the most important mission to live life as a human being...Being there for one another...with no discrimination. We are inclusive people for real!!! Negative, positive, LGBTQQIS, straights, queer, people of colors and white folks, Etc. Our group is very very diverse and I am happy to be a part of this non-profit organization.
I have grown from a person who only thinks and focuses on herself to a person who think about herself and Life Group as her 2nd family. I have learned to be dedicated to what I do and love my work. I have made great friends. I have witnessed many changes and miracle. I am honored to be a part of the Life Group.
I have volunteered for other organizations, but this is the only volunteer organization that I can actually witness a life transform over the course of a weekend. Every one leaves the weekend with a little more love and hope. ❤️
hi my name is Michael after finding out about my “new gift”,I attended a two day seminar put on by Lifegroup LA and Santa Monica I don’t exactly normally fit into these type of groups but they made it extremely welcoming ,educational & changed my life, had I not attended this group early into this I’m not sure where I would be??? thank you so much Sonny John Jack just to name a few you will always have a place in my ♥️
Just wanted to tell you that last Saturday was so great! I filled out your evaluation & forgot to leave it... I enjoyed all the speakers & did learn some new stuff. Being in my support group with other long term survivors was especially encouraging - bonding with them was so good for me! And meeting another female participant was the cherry on the Sundae - we exchanged numbers & made a date to have lunch Sunday! Girl Power!
I'm so glad I decided to sell my theater ticket & stay all day! JD was spectacular as our facilitator!
The day helped me break through my deep anger, depression frustration about the pharma law suit ... so... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Attended the U=U Workshop in West Hollywood a few weeks ago and walked away with some valuable information for myself and lots to share with others. Thank you for creating this event. I feel like it is a big step towards ending the stigma I have within myself.
I will ALWAYS remember the day my friend Gary took me to a POZ Life workshop. It was one of the most healing, connected, transformative, loving, gracious, awe-inspiring experiences/ memories I have had, or will ever have. Sunnie Rose Berger is an angel to so many, and I admire her greatly. I have no doubt that Sunnie works day and night to continue her work for God's children. I remember when the facilitator asked me to speak that day. I said that gay men treat me better than straight men ever did, and they make me feel fabulous. At the end of the event, someone helped Moses up off the floor. I walked up to him to shake his hand. Moses looked right into my soul with his piercing eyes, lively and full of light. Then he said to me, "You ARE fabulous." Every time I recall that moment, my ego gets a little boost in the right direction. I can only imagine all the saints up in Heaven (including Moses) who talk to God every day about giving Sunnie and her team the wisdom, direction, stamina, and strength to do her perfect work, and to outfit all her warriors (such as Gary) to actively support her in this wonderful, beautiful cause. I hope that next time I'm in LA, there will be a POZ Life event for me to attend. Much love and light to Sunnie and Gary!
The Life Group Poz Weekend is life changing experience. The information and connection with others, after feeling lonely and isolated so much of the time, was wonderful. I am exceedingly grateful for everyone who helped put this together.
My first experience was their Poz Life Weekend, a 2 day whirlwind of classes, emotional support groups and creative activities for people infected or affected by HIV. I had just been diagnosed 6 months prior and was still struggling with the feeling that my life was over. I came to the weekend hoping for a little information about medications and inflammation but walked away with so much more. Meeting an incredibly diverse group of people living with the virus helped normalize it for me and see myself outside of the constant stigma I was hearing from the media and an ill informed gay community, my parents, my work, my friends, almost everyone. I needed people in my life who were Poz and still thriving so that I could find a way there myself. This group helped me find the path. 4 years later I was so grateful for what they had given me and others in my life that I began volunteering for them. The surprise has been that I get almost as much out of volunteering as I did out of participating. They are a dynamic group of people infused with love and the determination to heal and support others in their healing process. They honestly gave me my life back.
From this ..... to this.
Thank you Lifegroup LA
From client served, to volunteer, to almost a professional with expertise as a result of my first life group weekend seminar four years ago.
Life Group LA saved my life 4 years ago and continues to be my foundation (as well as a resource) to stand upon as a long term survivor. I was introduced to them through Being Alive and through their literal bath of knowledge, tools, discussion, story telling, yoga, writing, laughter, food, fun, experts from all over the world (a la International AIDS Conference level), I was able to come to grips with why I was not functioning in the world around me. I was suffering from PTSD as a long term Survivor. Life Group LA was the first agency in LA to take this on, address it, work with clients over their weekend seminars, and make it part of their curriculum on a permanent basis. State of the Art.
They are so connected to the Community's needs that they even put up the first of it's kind and flagship model, frequently replicated across the south land "Resiliency and Self Care During Troubled Times" one day seminar for the LGBT and their Allies Community. So necessary and ahead of others that care providers, psychologists, psychiatrists, community leaders and community members attended and then were able to take those tools to the community.
Anyone and Everyone infected or affected by HIV, short term, long term simply MUST attend a Seminar. They will be forever grateful and empowered and armed with knowledge and tools.
YEA LIFE GROUP LA!
Its an honor to be asked to present at the POZ Life Weekends. I have been a part of their team by facilitating their 12 step meetings. Their workshops don't just address HIV, but many aspects of life including addiction. People who get help and support over coming addiction and are also living with HIV are better prepared to be adherent to their medicines and other life choices that will lead them to a healthier life.
The Life Group Los Angeles provides life changing weekend events unlike any other organization. As someone who was dealing with the shame, stigma, and overwhelming amounts of information pointed at newly infected people, their event and approach provided me with tools, experiences, and opportunities to interact with others in such a profound way that allowed me a moment of healing. I left the weekend seminar with helpful information, experiential tools, and a support group that helped tear down the walls of isolation so common upon initial diagnosis. I would recommend their services to anyone infected or affected by HIV. The Life Group LA TRULY changed my life!
They were there for me when I needed help most. When I am further along in my healing I will come back and train to be a volunteer so I can give back.
They helped me heal from a long held belief of how tainted I had been. This weekend is amazing and the volunteers are incredible.
I had been HIV positive for 21 years when I attended this seminar. I had never told my story of being in the Navy and finding out I was HIV positive. I was 21 and they put me on a C-141 cargo plane as the only passenger and flew me from Hawaii to Travis Airforce Base where they locked me in a room with a sign that read "infectious disease do not enter." A women came in and interviewed me in a hazmat suit. I was then flown to San Diego and Miramar Marine Corps Airstation. I was then transported to Naval Hospital Balboa on a bus that I had to sit in the back of the bus alone. It was two weeks before someone touched me without gloves on and it was my mother when she arrived. I was so full of shame about that incident that I had never told anyone because when this all happened people were dying within six months of diagnosis and I survived. So, I carried the weight of that shame for all those years and finally at the weekend I was able to address the shame and have a new beginning that has been incredible. I have been living the most serene life since that weekend. I have not shame and completely feel free and present and alive. Thank you Life Group for giving me a life worth living.
Founded by the most compassionate and loving person, Sunnie Rose Berger, who has dedicated her life to those affected and effected by HIV/AIDS, and surrounded by an amazing group of dedicated volunteers, Life Group LA is the epitome of LOVE. Services are free and the weekends are filled with professional information, a compassionate presence and a non-judgemental atmosphere where particpants can assimilate the information at their own pace and experience a truly loving, caring and empowering environment. Don't walk but run to the next Life Group LA weekend.
Life Group LA is an amazing organization that assists the HIV+ community with emotional support weekends, up to date information, and a caring and non-judgmental environment. The dedicated staff, volunteers and the astounding Sunnie all combine to be one of the most effective in Los Angeles. Long live LIFE GROUP LA!
Came to the seminar scared didn't know what to expect and left Sunday exhausted but never more prepared to start a Monday with a life changed outlook. It was a long weekend but nothing could have been worth more to me.
The volunteers at Life Group shine. I have never met a more caring group of people that really want to, and do make a difference. I have been to 2 weekend and want to thank especially my group facilitators Carla, John, Carlos and David.
My brother tested positive 4 weeks ago. I didn't know what to do or who to go to for info on how to help him and the rest of the family understand this new challenge. I googled LA and made many calls to different agency's but no one i spoke to could help me as a family member help my brother and family as a whole. One agency finally referred me to Life Group LA for a seminar they had heard about. I called and spoke to a lady who spent over an hour with me on the phone. She answered a lot of questions for me and gave me some referrals for my brother but mostly took the time to give me some calm in what I thought was a huge storm. I haven't been to the seminar that I have read so much about yet but I hope to be able to go with my family to the next one.
I attended a workshop that Life Group LA put on about Resiliency, Self-Care and Activism in March of 2017. Like so many people, I had been reeling and anxious ever since the election, and this was a great opportunity to get together with like-minded and open-minded individuals and talk about how we can most effectively face the many challenges that lie ahead, without burning out. There were several amazing speakers who addressed a variety of relevant issues, and I thought the one-day workshop was time very well-spent. Not only did it address some of my own personal needs, but as a social worker in the HIV community I have continued to share some of what I learned there over the past several months with my clients. I hope to take their support group training at some point and get more involved. In addition to this great personal experience I had with Life Group LA, I have heard from a few clients about how healing and inspiring their POZ weekend seminars are. This is a great organization, with warm, sincere, and caring people involved.
I was invited to take part in the resiliency workshop this year. I went into it not know what to expect. I found part of it to be very healing. I’m glad that I went and I would suggest to anybody if they have the opportunity, please take the time to seek out life group and it’s amazing services. I would give it more than five stars if I could.
Happy to support this organization as a donor. I have a couple of friends, they are a couple, who went to the POZ Seminar a few years ago in Phoenix. They were inspired so much that one of them has gone back to school to be a social worker and the other got himself into medical care and a recovery program. Both are living a healthy full life now and as a close friend, I am not sure if they would be still together or in a healthy situation if they had not attended. Whatever happened that weekend saved them individually and as a couple. Hope they come back to Phoenix, we need more of what they have to offer.
I began as a participant many years ago and to this day, some of things I learned are still a part of my daily self-care. In 2012, I took their four day Facilitator Training and have been a volunteer ever since. Knowing you really do improve people's lives is so personally rewarding too!
Please consider supporting us in whatever way you can.
I tested HIV positive 8 weeks ago, met this group at LA Pride in June and was interested in one of their horseback fundraisers and took a brochure. I was not HIV at the time but was interested and wanted to help since I did know people who were. Now I was in a panic and had to get help. I called a couple of places and did not get a call back. I got tested while drunk in a mobile van in Hollywood and they were trying to help me but it felt like they just wanted to get me in their system, it did not feel genuine. I called Life Group and got a call back within the hour and the girl I spoke to was very reassuring and helpful. She asked me what I thought I needed, gave me lots of resources and then also gave me a number of other resources I had not even thought about possibly needing that I found I do need help with. She asked me to follow up with her if I was not getting what I needed and she would step in to make some calls for me. She did not even know me and I did not even have to go to their office and she still helped me and spent like 45 minutes in the phone with me. I am now pretty much connected to medical care and medications, I have insurance luckily. I called her back and she gave me some referrals to social groups where I could go hang out with other people who would understand my situation. I am not in LA so its hard to get to these gatherings but I will try in the future. Right now, everything seems status quo and I am still able to work and maintain my current relationships and friendships. I hope to go to the POZ Seminar in January. I now know the girls name is Sunnie and she is the director.
Talk about an organization who cares more than just 9-5 Monday to Friday! I reached out to Life Group on a Saturday night about midnight after sitting on my test results for a day. I needed to talk to someone about what the rest of my life might look like. I got a call Sunday morning which I didn't expect so I was shocked. Sunnie called me and took time to listen and shared that they had a seminar coming up in a few weeks that she wanted me to come to so I registered. She also offered me referrals to Being Alive LA so that I could get immediately connected with a case manager to make sure I had all my ducks in a row. It's been about 6 weeks now, I am settled emotionally, I made some new friends at the seminar and have a great case manager who is walking me through the steps to get what I need. I feel like I can live life and not have this diagnosis slow me down. I am as invincible as I was before and they helped me know that was possible.
Life Group LA is a wonderful non-profit with the biggest big heart! This group of people one main goal is to help others with those who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. In any way, helping those if they have been exposed themselves or helping with family and friends. With emotional support, education and the tools for a long-lived life! Sunnie the head of Life Group LA has the biggest heart. She is always there for everyone, with her ear, heart, advice, and support.
Life Group LA is a great non-profit to support. Have a big heart and give to the biggest heart helping others.
Life Group LA, Inc. is run by the most amazing selfless person I know Sunnie Rose Berger. Sunnie puts her heart and soul into her organization to make sure that the community who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS have a place to go when they or a family member have been diagnosed HIV+
I am a donor and volunteer. I have done Saddle Up LA for 9 years to raise funds for The Life Group LA. I know these funds are really needed to keep this organization alive. If they don't receive funding they cannot make other peoples life better and healthy. I also donate directly through my Workplace Giving Campaign to The Life Group LA!
The Funds that are raised allow totally free of charge people to go to POZ Life Weekend Seminar. This Seminar Is provided for everyone including their family members to come and be supported in their effort to learn how to either live a long healthy productive POZitive lifestyle, or help someone they know and love overcome the fears associated with being HIV+. I have seen how much Sunnie and her organization The Life Group LA have made peoples lives better and how thankful they are, if they did not have the funding, donation or even volunteers from people like you and I this Organization could not exist. That is why it is so important to me to make sure I do all I can do to raise funds to help and get the word out!
My therapist recommended I go to this event since she had a number of clients go and they had great experiences. I looked for reviews and found your site. I went ahead and registered for the seminar in January in West Hollywood. I was really nervous about attending. I had just tested HIV+ 2 months before and had not come to terms with this. I am a straight woman, never thought this disease could affect me, how naive I was. After talking to the staff at Life Group and feeling no judgment at all from them and how welcoming they were, I was set at ease. Everything I experienced at this workshop gave me faith and hope and lots of info. Everyone was very welcoming and supportive. I made a few friends who I have been meeting up with for social stuff and support since then and I am no longer feeling like this disease is something I cant deal with. It's not always easy but reflecting back on the things I learned, I use the tools to center me, my mind and get me back on track. Thank you Life Group LA
This group KNOWS.. I mean KNOWS how to help people find peace with their HIV diagnosis. The presenters are top notch professionals who are welcoming and kind and know their stuff. The volunteers are from another planet that must be called "Love and Hugs" They were there for us at every step, every turn and every break through and break down. I can't afford much but donated a little money so to pay it forward. I want to come back and take the volunteer training they offer so I can pay it forward even more. Thank you Life Group, you are really LIFE for so many.
It's been a couple years since I went to the POZ seminar and now I am ready to come back and volunteer. I had been recently diagnosed with HIV but so sick I was almost at full blown AIDS. The seminar gave me so much support and info that I regained some confidence and took back my health both physically and emotionally by finding a doctor I had better communication with, understanding what my lab results meant and how the medication worked. I was able to forgive myself and others, and in general, just be a more open and loving person. I still have not disclosed my status to all my family, but I know I will soon and I know that Life Group will be there for my family if they want to attend a weekend to learn more. Thank you for giving me back what I thought I'd never have again. Life.
I can not thank the Life Group LA enough. 9 months ago my little brother was diagnosed with HIV. He spirit was completely broken. I was very worried about him and did not know how to offer any help. In Aug. 2016 we both attended Life Group LA's POZ Life weekend seminar. Wow, what an experience... I can not explain in words how life-changing it was for the both of us. He now has the personal tools and a wealth if information to live a full and productive life and I am there for him 100%. The weekend had a profound affect on our relationship. We have never been closer. I would HIGHLY recommend Life Group LA as a GREAT NONPROFIT!!!
Thank you Life Group LA.
Since attending this weekend workshop there is rarely a day I don't reflect on my experience. I have made friends that do not judge me, I have learned how best to take care of myself and how to help my doctors and nurses make sure I am getting the best care for my situation. For the first time, during the weekend I was given the opportunity to do a 12 step meeting. This was something I know I should have looked into sooner but this safe space allowed me to feel comfortable going in with other participants I had met during the weekend. I left with the knowledge of what the program was about and now have friends I can connect with and go to meetings with outside this group. There isn't a soul alive that is HIV+ or a caregiver who should not go to this seminar. If not for themselves, to be of service to other brothers and sisters going through rougher times. Here's a video that describes what they do.
The Life Group is a fantastic charity. After attending a life Group Weekend in 2015, I was hooked. I wanted to volunteer to help and could not due to my 48 week travel schedule for work.
I signed up for Saddle Up LA and raised money for the Life Group. Sunnie knew I only knew a few people and asked me to sign up for a team which I gladly did. This made the experience even more enjoyable.
I can't say enough good things about this warm and loving charity.
Last month i went to this retreat for the first time, referred by my therapist I was scared to go, but was greeted warmly when I arrived and my nerves were settled. I met some new friends and people who I can reach out to when I have questions about anything. They saw me at my most raw and still accepted me and supported me. I learned I am not damaged goods and that I have a lot to offer others. I appreciate that after the seminar the volunteers called me to see if I was okay and if I needed anything. I needed help with my utility bills and food they gave me some places to call. A week later they called me back to see if I was able to get what I needed and I had. This is a caring group and I appreciate all they do for us.
I became a donor when I learned from a friend that he was HIV+. He told me about his journey and how going to a weekend seminar the weekend before gave him back his life after he felt his diagnosis took it away. He was such a different person than he had been the months before. he was withdrawn, depressed and no one could figure it out. We were all concerned for him. Apparently this weekend gave him tools, strength, a sense of well being and power to take back what he "thought" he had lost. I thank Life Group LA for giving us our friend back, supporting him and giving him what he needed to be whole again.
I have been a participant, a volunteer and a fundraiser. I have seen first hand the benefit that is provided to so many. I have witnessed adults, minors and senior citizens benefit....Gay, straight, male, female, alike. I know the monies donated are highly leveraged by the tremendous volunteers that make up The LifeGroup LA!
That is why I ride:
I have seen first hand how those affected on so many levels are provided comfort and understanding that they never knew existed. This is why I volunteer and donate. I also know that this group is VERY careful with how they spend the money they are given!
The LifeGroup was one of the first places I found when I was newly diagnosed in 2008. Although many people felt then, and still now that it's no big deal, believe me it is. There is still huge stigma, people still do die, and information and resources are extremely scattered. It was the LifeGroup that empowered me through the initial weekend where to find answers to my questions and where to find hope for my fears. Staying involved as a volunteer since then has helped me remain at a higher spiritual vibration because the group walks the walk. Everyone involved is at their highest level of compassion when representing and moreover even when they're not. The group changes lives, and while many non profits do great work, very few can say they transform people and then promise to be there for them no matter what. HIV is still scary and still with us at times in worse ways than before. The LifeGroup LA is a group that understands this and welcomes anyone affected in any way and from any walk of life.
I was a client.. I've become a donor since I attended 5 years ago. Each time I make a contribution, I know how much good my gift is doing. I also get a nice letter with an update of the years accomplishments so far and goals. I follow them on facebook and see all that they do and read all the comments posted by other clients who have attended and it's confirmed that I too helped make a difference. It is a very rewarding experience from having attended to now giving them the means to do more seminars so others can have the same life changing experience I had.
I'll never forget my experience that I had at a POZ weekend. I have to agree 100% with the writer of this article. ( http://www.aumag.org/2016/04/21/sunnie-rose-berger-advocate/ ) The warmth and beautiful energy of the room and everyone in it was a feeling I've never felt before. You're such a wonderful person Sunnie Rose Berger and you have touched many souls with your love and generosity. Angel's like you are hard to come by. You rock!!
It has been my honor volunteering for the Life Group LA. Knowing that I played a small part in changing lives for the better, and empowering people through knowledge and support, has been very fulfilling.
Such an amazing organization ! Talk about the many types of support they provide. It's really an organization where one can walk in and let down their guards and learn to heal. Thank you guys !!
This workshop really transformed my life. I am newly diagnosed and felt isolated and despair before this weekend. Now I feel hope and know that joy is possible. I feel love in my heart instead of loneliness. Thank you.
I've been volunteering for almost 2 years now and everytime is a great experience. I have never been to a place with such love and acceptance. I would of never thought of being part of such a great organization!
Life Group LA is a non stop 24/7 non profit group that does so much for so many! We are proud to know them and be involved with them whenever we can. It is an honor to join them in their many different events and ventures that they do for so many! They make a different in so many people's lives. Hats off to all of them. They deserve so much credit for all they do!!! Davida Aprons & Kosher Kurls
What this organization does is nothing short of amazing. I have seen lives transformed over the course of just a weekend over and over. It is so refreshing to see and organization that has no other goal than to give everything they can to those in need. The presentations are top notch at their seminars and the loving compassion that every volunteer brings is rare to see. What is great about them also is that everything is authentic and nothing feels forced or fake. I wish that every person would get the experience of attending one of their weekends!
I first went though one of TLGLA Poz Life Weekends about 5 years ago. I was such a wonderful and transforming experience! Since then I have volunteered and have been able to see countless others experience this compassionate and non-judgemental weekend.
TlGLA has changed the minds hearts and souls of thousands over the past decade to those living with or affected by HIV. As a volunteer I have had the opportunity to be a part of the magic of loving compassion that oir clients so desperately need and benefit from. This is by far one of the best non profit organizations in LA! Here's to the next decade!!!!
Life Group came along in my life when I was surrounded by loving friends, an accepting family, and understanding clients...and still I felt alone in my new diagnosis of HIV.
Soon after my HIV Positive diagnosis I found the Poz Life Weekend Seminar. The safe space, unconditional love, and informative seminars set me on a path of healing and acceptance.
Six years later, I am a volunteer with this life changing, inspiring organization and continue to feel the ripples of love, acceptance, and honesty.
At the recommendation of another member in my weekly HIV+ support group, I attended a one-day seminar provided by The life Group LA in Pasadena. I was so impressed by the presenters, and more importantly the organization and their mission, I attended their much touted quarterly POZ Life seminar. The experience cannot be described accurately in words. The compassionate environment provides a safe, loving, non-judgmental approach, commitment to a supportive weekend, and truly an enlightening adventure one must attend to fully grasp the experience. I was so excited I became an active volunteer, and praise the committed giving of all involved. As a non-profit we accept no government funding and therefore rely primarily on our fundraising events engineered by Executive Director Sunnie Rose Berger, the committed presenters, and the many volunteers for their tireless dedication to those infected and affected buy HIV.
There is no agency that does or can do what this agency can do. They changed me and I was then able to transform my life. Group has more compassion than the people who volunteer for life group.
I have been volunteering for the Life Group and people they are serving for more than six years. Why? Because of its mission. Mission and commitment to provide education and support for people infected and affected with HIV/AIDS. The Life Group Los Angeles offers them life tools…so they can live their life healthily. The Life Group and all volunteers work with a family concept. We take care of each other and we take care of our clients.
This year we took got the opportunity to bring our services to Arizona where the people were blown away by our compassion, dedication and service to the HIV/Aids community. It is amazing to see people transform over the weekend- to become empowered with medical, health and life decisions. The volunteers and staff are amazing and we love what we do! Until there is a cure, we hope to always be around emotionally supporting people infected/affected by HIV/Aids and their friends and family for FREE. We would also love to bring this to other places that need our services. I am blessed to be a part of The Life Group.
This group provides a wide array of information to persons recently diagnosed with chronic, serious medical conditions such as HIV, or Hepatitis C. Their intensive weekend provides information from medical experts, emotional support, guidance on available benefits, continuing life activities such as dating, social engagement and work. I have worked with them for several years and often hear back from participants on how valuable the weekend was to them in helping to adjust to their condition and restore a good quality of life. Many look back on their weekend as the first step back to a "normal" life.
This place really helped me get my life together when I needed it the most. Life wouldn't be the same without them.
Amazing group providing cutting edge services to the HIV/AIDS community at no charge to participants. As a mental health professional I refer my clients to The Life Group LA for support, education and empowerment.
The Life Group LA provides a safe and nurturing haven for people who are HIV positive as well as support for their friends, family, partners, and loved ones.
As a professional who works in the HIV/AIDS community, I use The Life Group LA as my primary referral source for clients who are dealing with the daily issues of being HIV positive.
This group provides education from the leaders in the field of HIV medicine ( Dr. Michael Gotleib, Dr Eric Darr), supportive resources for legal and alternative care, and a nurturing environment for personal discovery and self-growth.
Review from Guidestar
After suffering in silence and shame for over 25 years from living with HIV. Someone suggested i attend a weekend seminar. That seminar transformed me and allowed me to start the life I now have. I was able to, for the first time, talk about being diagnosed in the Navy and the way I was treated. The shame and isolation I experienced both emotionally and physically was paralyzing. At that weekend the volunteers provided a safe, loving, supportive environment. The facilitators were amazing and also allowed me the space and time to begin healing that shame. From the first phone call with Sunnie Rose the experience was incredibly loving.
I have worked with other agencies and recieved services, but none provide the service, or the support that Life Group does as well. The reason is that for the first time I was in a room with those affected by the disease and got to hear how my disease affected them. I was so isolated and had no idea that my family was as well. This experience coupled with the compassion with which they approach and provide services was the key to my returning to life.
I went to school and recieved my Masters Degree and I am currently applying to Ph.D. programs. This experience informs all that I do, and have done.
There is no other agency that provides this service, this support, and this compassion. They do not duplicate services of any kind, there is no where else to get what they provide except from them. Their work needs to be available to more, and accessible by many.
Life's are not just changed, but saved by this program.
The Life Group LA was founded with love and compassion. They provide much needed programs, services, support, advocacy and resources for individuals who have been infected or affected by HIV. I'm a huge supporter of this organization. I believe in the leadership and management of Life Group LA and know they always provide the highest level of care to their clients. Thank you Life Group LA and Sunnie for all the work you do each day in this community.
