Mission: Established in 1981 as a memorial to Charles W. Harris, the Library Art Gallery is a non-profit organization promoting the visual arts in the Appalachian regions of southwest Virginia, eastern Kentucky, and northeast Tennessee. Supported entirely by contributions and project grants, the Library Art Gallery features local and nationally renown artists through partnership with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; artists' workshops through partnership with VMFA and Pro Art Association; complements (and in most cases, provides the only) arts education programs for local schools and colleges; features cultural exhibits such as Native American arts and crafts, textile art (e.g. quilts), as well as many other types of Appalachian cultural arts and crafts.
