This non-profit has been in operation for ten years for the purpose of raising funds and public awareness of the need for a bigger local library in Waxhaw. They raise funds through annual membership. Plus an all-volunteer staff operates a bookstore on Main St. stocked with donated gently-used paper back and hard cover books. It's been described by some as a quaint place to stop in and browse while in town.
Each year some of the profits go to the current library to pay for such things as computers and equipment. The rest of the profits are kept in high interest savings accounts for the new library that was bond-funded a couple years ago. Hopefully we will soon see construction underway on this long-needed community asset.
