The Athenaeum is a wonderful resource for books, CD's, DVD's, sheet music, and art exhibitions, and their events are also outstanding and rewarding. They range from intimate chamber performances of classical, jazz, and new music, to lectures and symposiums on art, art history, music, architecture, and more. Plus, the School of the Arts offers a variety of courses in two locations, La Jolla and University Heights. The Athenaeum is one of my favorite places for ongoing arts and music education and fun.

La Jolla Athenaeum Library of Arts and Music has the most fantastic art and music lectures, not to mention a virtual gold mine of architecture, art, and interior design books . There is a children's section as well as sheet music and cd's that are available.

The La Jolla Athenaeum is an amazing library. There are many great art books that you can check out and the library puts on various art openings and events. I have volunteered at the Athenaeum for three years and the experience has been very rewarding. My favorite activities at the library are working at the art openings and the Gustavo Romero concerts. One of the best things about this organization are the people who work there. All of the staff are friendly, kind and very helpful especially Carol Buckley, Penny Buckingham and Angela Lynch.
