I wanted my local school district to operate with fairness, accountability, and transparency, and began participating in the public comment period to give feedback in the summer of 2020. The school district didn't like the criticism, and took escalating steps to violate my constitutional rights including: 1. Requiring me to submit my comments ahead of time so they could "approve" them. 2. Banning me from attending school board meetings or using district facilities without obtaining permission from the superintendent, and 3. Interrupting and reducing my public comment period while letting others who said favorable words go over their time, often in the same meeting.
When I reached out to Liberty Justice Center in September 2023 for help it was my last hope, and they came through. They analyzed my situation, asked many questions, and evaluated my documents-all great actions in a fiscally responsible organization.
I could never afford the high quality representation I have been given. I am grateful to have them handling my case which not only impacts my rights, but the rights of other parents in Oregon and across the US.
Public schools must operate with fairness, accountability, and transparency and preserving the civil rights of the public to speak at school board meetings is one way to accomplish that. Thank you Liberty Justice Center for taking on the fight to protect civil rights.
Liberty Justice Center works tirelessly to help those who are up against the system. Always on the correct side of the issues impacting our world. We especially like their support of free speech and the 4th Amendment.
I was a State of Illinois employee that was being forced to pay dues to a union I did not want to support and did not agree with their policies and politics. Liberty Justice Center went to Federal court for and with me to help me stop AFSCME from taking dues I didn't agree to have taken. My case went all the way to the Supreme Court. They were more than informative and helpful all the way. In June 2018 the Supreme Court agreed and now I, and about 5 million other public sector workers do not have to pay dues to a union we don't agree with. Talk about success! LJC to this day is an outstanding public sector litigator firm. Without them I could not have stood up to one of the most powerful and contentious unions in the country. Thank you LJC!
