Mission: To foster excellence and innovation in performances and presentation of great music; to enrich the lives of our diverse citizenry; to educate current and future audiences and to bring distinction to our community through the orchestra's presence and standing.
Programs: The lexington philharmonic presents over 200 concerts and educational programs annually that are designed to engage the diverse populations of central and eastern kentucky. The season series features traditional classical music, newer and world premiere pieces, and world-renowned guest artists. Many life-long learning programs are offered free of charge with community partners such as the fayette county public schools as well as free pre-concert lectures designed to introduce patrons to the guest artists and programming. The peanutbutter and jelly series is a fun way to introduce children and grown-ups to classical music. Lexphil also offers extensive educational programs, reaching over 10,000 students a year through its "music builds" education platform that includes discovery concerts, ensembles in schools, teaching musicians, instrument petting zoos, and curriculum guides.
