My wife and I lived nearby for over twenty years in a home I bought in 1972 and totally remodelled. Toward the end of our residency there we visited Lenbrook a couple of times "just in case". . Then, at Christmas 2013, came my totally unexpected open heart surgery. I recovered quickly, but this caused us to rethink our view of the future. Our apartment of choice (Andrews) was available, and we moved in during the summer of 2014. We've been here for about 4-1/2 years. Both of us are active in the residents association, which allows us a close view of what goes on "behind the scenes". Both of us love our life here. My wife is by nature gregarious - I am not. For me, the active social life among a community of nearly five hundred interesting and accomplished people - only the push of an elevator button away - is the greatest and best change. I could go on, but I won't. I can't address the complaint of the previous writer because she doesn't include many necessary details, but I believe the Residency Agreement is fair. The Brookhaven building, where her mother lived, was built over 30 years ago, and most of the smaller apartments there have been remodeled after becoming available - frequently by combining two or more units into one. The newer Lenox building (where we live) was built about nine years ago, and the latest addition, called Kingsboro, will have even larger units, reflecting marketing conditions. My wife and I are both very thankful for having moved here before physical deterioration made it necessary. My four-star rating reflects my belief that nothing is absolutely perfect

My mom lived in the independent living part of Lenbrook Square for years, and she loved it. But beware the "refundable entrance fee". My mom died years ago and, even when I retained an attorney, Lenbrook refused to provide needed documentation regarding the refund. Worse than that, my mom's apartment was in the original building. After she signed the contract with them, they built a NEW 25 STORY LUXURY ADDITION. And they remodeled parts of the old building where my mom had lived. The refund fee is based upon the "sale" of a comparable unit. At this point, it's possible there no longer remains an apartment that is comparable to my mom's. Looks like my mom may have involuntarily donated over $80,000 to Lenbrook, when she fully believed she had left that money to me. Not a nice way to "steal" from dead people...
