I assisted with fundraising for LAFLA's Bill Smith Homeless Veterans Project. The project secures government benefits for the thousands of homeless veterans in LA. The program also provides legal advice and assists veterans in filing VA claims. As a volunteer, I organized a raffle and solicited donations from colleagues at work to pay for a full time organizer for the project. Currently, I am helping plan a summer fundraiser for the project which will help subsidize much needed resources.

The Bill Smith Veteran's Project provides invaluable help to disabled Veterans in need. I've personally worked with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, who run this program, on other public benefits projects and found their dedication and expertise to be unparalleled. Without their hard work, many Veterans would be unable to obtain essential benefits that they are owed.

I have had the privilege of serving the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles on a volunteer basis. The organization offers a multitude of invaluable services. More recently, I have helped the organization raise funds for its admirable Bill Smith Homeless Veterans Project, which provides much-needed aid to veterans and their families. At a time when our nation is fighting two wars abroad, it is especially imperative that we do everything in our power to help veterans as they transition back to civilian life rather than simply forget them. With a large veteran population in the region, the growth of this project would go a long way towards that goal.

The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles ("LAFLA") is a great organization. I've been fortunate enough to be a part of it for several years now through the Associates Advisory Board and have really enjoyed my experience. Everyone that I've met at LAFLA has been really nice and helpful and they do great work in our community. One of their projects is the Bill Smith Homeless Veterans Project, which is an excellent program and I'm glad that I've been able to raise money for this cause.

The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles is tremendous organization. I have had the privilege of serving on its Associates Advisory Board ("AAB") since 2005. AAB members support LAFLA by increasing pro bono participation at Los Angeles are law firms, staffing LAFLA's Victims of Crime Immigration Clinic, and fundraising. For the past two years, proceeds generated from the AAB's Associates Campaign have supported LAFLA's Homeless Veterans Project. This is a wonderful clinic that provides much needed assistance to service men and women who have fallen on hard times.

I have been involved with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles ("LAFLA") for several years. I began as a volunteer, participating in one if the many legal clinics that LAFLA runs throughout the city. At the clinics, I met several clients who were desparately in need of legal services. I served as a pro bono attorney, working in conjunction with LAFLA in defense of multiple unlawful detainer cases. Today I am a member of LAFLA's Associate Advisory Board. LAFLA is a wonderful organization that provides much needed services to some of the city's more indigent. LAFLA has touched the lives of so many people and deserves the highest praise. Specifically, LAFLA's Bill Smith Homeless Veterans Project works to protect veterans and their families by securing government benefits, and medical care and services, while stabilizing their living situation. This project is critical to preserve some of the most basic rights and needs of Los Angeles' homeless veterans.

I am an attorney who has taken a number of pro bono projects from Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. It is a very well-run organization that is truly focused on helping low or no income people in Los Angeles County. LAFLA also runs a lot of great clinics for veterans, immigrants, and other at-risk groups in the Los Angeles area.

I am an attorney accredited to represent veterans before the V.A. I also supervise a monthly free legal clinic for homeless veterans at the V.A. facilities in West Los Angeles. For the past six months, LAFLA's staff atty that specializes in veterans' benefits issues has provided critical support at this monthly clinic. During this period, the number of vets who appear at the clinic with benefits issues has more than tripled -- this is entiely due to the expert counselling provided by LAFLA's staff attorney. At every clinic, veterans now inform me that their primary motivation for coming to the clinic is to obtain benefits counselling and, if necessary, representation. We are then able to address other legal issues that impede the ability of these veterans to stand up on their own two feet. LAFLA contribution to my monthly clinic is invaluable. LAFLA justly deserves your support.

LAFLA's work with homeless veterans is top-notch. Not only does LAFLA posses tremendous expertise in this area, it delivers that expertise in a way that really empowers the recipients. Plus they do a great job of training and mentoring volunteers.
