I am a single dad of a 3-year-old little girl. I currently have sole legal custody. Her mother has mental health issues, has used household chemicals on herself and my daughter, and has lost custody of her other 3 children. She has committed domestic violence against me. She files non-stop motions I am constantly forced to respond to. I lost my job as a result, am going to school, defend myself in court, and care for my daughter full-time. I currently receive state benefits and am trying to gain meaningful employment in a new field while battling an abuse ex for my daughter's protection.

I applied for Nevada Legal Aid for representation twice. They denied me once for reasons that sounded reasonable at the time even though the person who referred me had identical circumstances and they chose to help HER. However, SHE had a DV on her record and my record is clean. I satisfied their requests and for a second time and they still denied me.

The first "screener" was nice and polite but denied me. The second "screener" Irene had no personality or signs of any customer relation skills and didn't even allow me a proper interview.

If Legal Aid Center of Nevada is not willing to help me, who can they help??

I will be looking into appealing their decision and making it known to their donors. I believe this service was set up for people like me and I am still not understanding why they refused me assistance. I am a loving and involved father in a tough spot who only wishes to protect his child. They sent me a bs letter advising me they had limited space.

The application had indicators that it was specifically for women and my gut tells me that my sex may have had something to do with my denial. Anyone else feel this way?

Another fake non-profit. Legal Aid of Southern Nevada has incompetent paralegals doing the legal work. This non profit will only help illegal mexicans with divorces and immigration papers. They won't help white American citizens with legal problems. They're another fake non-profit stealing donor money and putting it into their own pockets.

I have visited the Legal Aid Center Of Southern Nevada many times and attended their wonderful classes. They are very helpful! They helped me figure out all the complicated ins and outs of small claims and I really appreciate them!

This is a fraud non profit. They don't help people. They hurt people instead of helping. I'm a woman and the male board of directors Max yelled at me and made fun of me for having to ask for pro bono help. He wouldn't help me. Him and the executive director refused to help me. They are bad people.

This organization in Nevada is utterly and completely useless. They collect millions of dollars to do very little in the way of helping advocate for people in actual litigation. What a bunch of snakes. They closed my file because they gave me the run around and we never even made it to court; their so called representation was over before the ink dried on my contract. They kept talking about they needed $5000 to pay the lights and they raised $13 of the $14 million they intended to and it's a shame because there are really great non-profits who need the money who are really helping the needy gosh it's such a waste to see people give millions of dollars to this organization knowing they could care less.
