The Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation Inc. has truly made a difference in our Community. They were very active and instrumental during COVID in supplying our Public Housing Agency with PPE supplies as well as other nutritional needs. They are very interested in our youth and we currently developing a partnership for a reading program and supplying books for our Youth Center.

This program has been a great experience for my daughter she’s loves it and I love that the ladies are so supportive, compassionate,caring and willing to help others in any way possible they have been helping others for so many years and I pray that they are able to help many others.

Im a volunteer with Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation Inc.

I also serve as a stakeholder on the Saving Our Youth Through Community Action Organization. We meet monthly in the community to come up with ways to better serve our youth. We have collaborated with the school in the district to provide tutoring services as well as host forums in the schools to speak with children to get their ideas and opinions on how we can better serve our youth community. Im honored to be apart of this foundation.

Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc. is a voice crying out in the wilderness and making a wonderful difference in the lives of youth and the community. From seminars to mentoring programs, workshops, and community partnerships to scholarships, Legacy is building a legacy for at-risk groups and bridging the gap to bring needful services to those too often left out. I love the members and they love my children. The program is very helpful and educational . I love how hands on it is & the fact that they make community service comfortable for the youth. The kids get great incentives to be active and eager to learn.

Ever since I participated in their junior high group, I felt as if I was welcomed by the sun. Their warmth ensured me that I was in good hands. This proved to me even further I was honored to be a recipient of a scholarship of theirs. This foundation plays a huge role in taking care of our community.

MS charity that really cares about families in communities. They are friendly and easy to get in touch with. They helped my daughters pass the 3rd-grade reading gate test. Legacy has helped raise me in becoming a better person, always encouraging me and always supplying classroom tools and snacks ALL through the year to our class. Creating a village to help others. I enjoy the unique ideas they use to give back to communities by paying it forward in our youth.

Legacy Foundation has always played a viable role in our community. During the pandemic, this organization has continued to meet the needs of the young and seasoned. It’s such a blessing to see the work invested in our youth through mentoring and scholarships. My class received masks, sanitizers, earbuds, snacks, and other useful items this past school year. As a teacher, they provided me with teacher gifts and materials I could use in the classroom. After experiencing the most stressful time in all of my 30 plus years in the educational arena, Legacy provided inspiration in such a time as this. D Lowery

I have worked very closely with this organization over twenty five years. I have witnessed their interaction with students and parents as they carried out their mission and philosophy.
I have seen students participate with mentors, distributing "love" to the elderly and disadvantaged. I, too, have given much of my service since I saw that it was honorable and sincere. My experience has been all positive with this organization

I like going to Legacy. The adults are cool and the children are fun. We get great snacks and do work but we don’t get a grade or get in trouble if we don’t do Welkom our work. They help us learn plus no homework.

Legacy is an amazing nonprofit organization that really supports their members. My two daughters love the Legacy program and how they nurture their growth and development. Legacy also helps out in the community wherever they see a need and that's means alot too. During Covid they continued to check on the children and supplied any PPE like mask, that was needed for the entire family. I pray that more communities get programs like Legacy because they are needed to help our youth and communities grow into the leaders of the future.

The depth and breadth of the offerings and benefit of Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc. surpass many other foundations that have as their goal to improve the well-fare and overall well-being of students. I especially appreciate that Legacy incorporates the entire community in which these students live, learn, and labor to lead. As a retired school and district-level administrator, the development of the total child has been my top priority. Legacy invests not only in the academic achievement of its students but in their development and empowerment to become successful community leaders and contributors who successfully impact and serve others while taking pride in paying forward the benefits they received.
I especially appreciate that Legacy invests in the character development of the students, teaching them life-long skills that will enable them to exist, navigate, and participate in a global society with integrity. They are taught a sense of community, how to focus on the concerns of others while making selfless, positive, and generous contributions to those in need. By teaching them that "no one is an island unto himself," Legacy students are taught to reach out and embrace others, help others and support each other while learning to coexist within a community of love and caring.

The Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc. delivers so much high quality programming and support to it's immediate communitiy in Forest as well as Mississippi and the southern region. The organization emphasizes the importance of story telling and passing on its rich history of public service and political action, all to build literacy skills and community involvement. These are photos of a field trip LECEF, Inc. provided its youth in partnership with the MS Department of Archives and History and the Medgar Evers Home Museum. LECEF is the best!

Legacy Education and Community Foundatio, Inc. is very vital to the youth and community in that it is an effective educational resource. The staff is great and they really care about the well being of the kids as well as the community. My daughter has been a part of this non profit organization and she loves it . My name is Stephanie Rhodes and I have been associated with Legacy since 2012. In that year, the founder Constance Slaughter-Harvey asked me to interview those who have made significant contributions to the community for the African-American Historical Society. Since then, I have interviewed several history-makers and I learned a great deal about the background of Morton, Mississippi. While I am fortunate to be a part of this organization, the greatest award is the idea that young people will benefit from the hard work and ground-breaking accomplishments of the interviewees.

We have enjoyed working with diverse community youth and seasoned leaders to ensure our community is enhanced educationally and prepared for life's challenges. We are a supportive, nurturing, knowledgeable, and committed team of dedicated Legacy Change Agents

We understand that we have an obligation to ensure this world is a better place for our offspring to live and thrive. Our leadership team consists of 100 Legacy Change Agents who volunteer our time to show the importance of community education, teamwork, and community empowerment.

Legacy Change Agents consist of nationwide investors, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, guardians, aunts, uncles, cousins, youth, friends, professionals, for-profits, nonprofits, and elected officials. Legacy Change Agent Scholars range from ages 1-25 and include grades Pre-K through colleges (Mainly scholars from Tougaloo College, Jackson State University, East Central Community College, Belhaven University, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Mississippi, West Virginia University at Parkersburg, and other colleges and universities) .

L.E.A.C.E.F. has provided fun and healthy community services that have given community members a fresh outlook on life. L.E.A.C.E.F. lifts up the past, works for the present and plans for the future. L.E.A.C.E.F.'s services include cross-age collaboration, historical interviews, field trips, tutoring services, parent engagement events, Girl Scouting, yard sales and various resources on educational and health services. L.E.A.C.E.F. shows a genuine commitment to learning from the community by working with the community. I really appreciate the courage and the 30 year legacy to remain focused on empowering our community, one child at a time.
