Mission: The JPL Space Foundation will raise money to support alternate methods of reaching space. Any method of reaching space that has a reasonable chance of success will be supported by the Foundation, but as of now it appears that the Space Elevator has the best opportunity to provide an affordable access to space by being up to one thousand times cheaper than rocket power. How many more shuttle missions could we have had if they had cost $500,000 each instead of $500,000,000; that''s the difference.
