Programs: Conferences and e-learning teach members to improve the quality of education in schools through professional development of educators. Nsdc/learning forward held two conferences: summer and annual. Summer conference is aimed at improving teacher practice. 1,536 teachers and school administrators from 42 states and the district of columbia were served at this event which lasted four days and included five keynote addresses, 11 pre-conferences, and 147 breakout sessions. The annual conference's goal is improving schools through better professional development and it is aimed at teacher leaders, principals, superintendents, and anyone charged with leading professional development for teachers. Nsdc/learning forward served 3,050 attendees from 50 states and the district of columbia at an event which lasted five days and included three keynote addresses, 32 pre-conferences, and 300 breakout sessions.
workshops in schools improve the quality of education through professional development of educators. Nsdc/learning forward conducted over 100 workshops in schools throughout the united states. These workshops are custom-designed to meet the needs of each school or district. They range in length from one day to ongoing coaching and audits that last weeks over several years. We estimate that over 25,000 educators were directly impacted and many more indirectly, as schools and districts gained knowledge and skills to help them improve the professional development of all their teachers with the goal of improving the success of all students.

Metlife foundation provided $250,000 to promote and disseminate the standards, evolve the learning school alliance, launch the learning school designation, and develop becoming a learning system. The wallace foundation provided $165,000 to disseminate wallace knowledge, including school leadership. The bill & melinda gates foundation provided $249,994 to support the learning forward annual conference. The sandler foundation provided $250,000 to support the transforming professional learning project. The spencer foundation provided $35,000 to support a conference to address leveraging research to transform professional learning.
