Mission: The league of women voters of minneapolis, inc encourages all citizens to play an informed and active roll in their community and government and works to influence public policy through education and advocacy.
Programs: Non-partisan voter information: builds civic participation in the democratic process by registering voters, hosting numerous candidate debates and presenting educational forums on important election issues such as pending initiatives and referendums. Provides non-partisan written election information. Targets information to new citizens and low voter turnout neighborhoods.
program topics: provides citizen education to improve public policy. "civic buzz" provides monthly speakers and discussion for members and the public on current public policy topics such as education, racial equity, water resources
member and community education: prepares all citizens and potential citizens to play an informed and active role in government and community. Provides workshops, educational forums and partners with community and neighborhood participation groups. Provides information to the general public via staff, newsletter, web site and members.
advocacy:advocates for reasonable solutions to the most pressing problems in the community that have government solutions. Lobbies from positions established by thorough study, discussion and member consensus.
