Causes: Education, Primary & Elementary Schools
Mission: To identify, develop and connect diverse leaders to strengthen the region by providing leadership development opportunities and to educate and instruct the public on subjects useful to the individual and beneficial to the community.
Programs: Leadership development in the pioneer valley for the benefit of the region. Our core program is a 10-month leadership development program that combines field experiences, applied leadership skill sessions and team projects. Each year 30-40 individuals are chosen for the program from a larger pool of applicants. Participants participate in an overnight retreat, opening reception, 8 full-day sessions, and project presentations and graduation event. We are beginning to consider offering additional leadership development trainings aimed at other audiences including youth, executives, or retirees. Lpv will develop workshops and materials to assist community members in developing their leadership skills, as a way to increase citizen participation in our communities. We held the following: alumni program - we held events for our alumni to further their connections, provide additional learning opportunities, and provide community service. Each event was well attended by alumni from each year of the program. To date we have graduated 180 people from the core program. Leadership 2. 0 - in january of 2015, we launched leadership 2. 0 to offer additional learning opportunities for our alumni. We held a workshop series on the science of leadership in the spring of 2017. Reach beyond mentoring- since 2015 we have offered a mentoring program for recent core program graduates. We paired 10 alumni with 10 mentors. The mentors and mentees received training and ongoing support over the last 12 months. This program will repeat. Leaders on board- in june of 2016, we launched a board matching and development program in pilot program in franklin county with three lead organizations. The program began in ernest last spring with a board basics training for new potential board members. The initial sessions had more than 20 attendees. This program will continue with quarterly trainings, board matching sessions, a fall conference, and monthly topic discussions. To date more than 200 individuals and two dozen organizations have participated.
