Causes: Leadership Development
Mission: Educating leaders to create public policy that is environmentally friendly and socially equitable for a healthy economy and a sustainable community.
Programs: Leadership for a sustainable future is the leadership institute's core program and is a ten-month long, full day once a month class to educate current and future leaders about sustainability. It trains students to apply a systems approach that recognizes ecological, economic, and social equity interests when creating pubic policies which will help to assure optimum quality of life for future generations. The classes provide a broad yet detailed education about sustainability issues, government structure, local public policy and a host of other connected issues. The training utilizes field trips, panel discussions, presentations by national and regional experts, and an extensive information binder. Participants in the program receive the resources they need to become more effective policy-makers and community leaders.
fellows networking program, fiscal sponsorships: we provide ongoing support for our fellows network by offering continuing education workshops, monthly gatherings, and other resources. We provide fiscal sponsorship of projects led by graduates of our leadership for a sustainable future program southeast greenway campaign and growing a village.
community education program: a key part of our mission is to raise public awareness about the linkages between economics, sustainability, and social justice. To accomplish this we sponsor a variety of public workshops and forums, often working cooperatively with other organizations. Our website, www. Ecoleader.
