Programs: Support for le bonheur children's hospital foundation programs of distinctionthe le bonheur foundation (lbf), in partnership with donors and volunteers, promotes philanthropic investment to support le bonheur children's hospital's (lbch) mission of providing high quality patient care, research and advocacy. During the year, the foundation raised more than $18. 9m, and lbf provided $9m for research, education, and the fedex family house and capital improvements. During the year, lbf increased focus on growing and supporting programs of distinction and contributing to the prevention, treatment and elimination of pediatric disease. The primary focus was on the neuroscience institute, cardiovascular institute, and the children's foundation research institute. A key goal was to increase the support of our children's foundation research institute to support lchf's core goals of contributing to the prevention, treatment and elimination of pediatric disease. The children's foundation research institute (cfri) at le bonheur children's hospital provides infrastructure, expertise, support and coordination to facilitate basic, clinical and translational research to improve the health of children. We have aligned our research focus on areas that are major health problems for the population and community we serve. Lbf, in partnership with the research division of lbch, awarded 5 grants for a total of $105,000 to aid in the research of rsv, liver disease, bowel loss, asthma and influenza, and pulmonary hypertension. In addition to the community benefit our staff members provide in their professional roles, le bonheur associates also volunteer for the following community organizations: grizzlies prep charter school, give 365, leadership memphis, children's homes, inc. , hope presbyterian, nami children's and family outreach, zta foundation, mrs. Flynn's closet, lead, junior league, mid-south nonprofit leadership collaborative alumni association, and memphis city schools connect volunteer mentor program. The lbf staff also had multiple speaking opportunities to community organizations including schools, rotary clubs, churches, etc. These provide opportunities for member engagement within le bonheur programs, both inside and outside the hospital walls. the fedexfamilyhouse is the first facility to provide housing for out-of-town families of patients receiving care at le bonheur children's hospital. This "home-away-from-home", which opened in december, 2010, provides approximately 25,000 square feet of comfortable, warm and inviting space for patient's families. The fedexfamilyhouse features 24 suites, living areas, kitchen and dining facilities, indoor and outdoor recreational space, and more. Over 20,000 families have stayed at the fedexfamilyhouse since its inception. Generous support for the operational costs of the facility was provided by the fedex corporation and numerous individuals and through various fundraising events.

lchf is a subscribing member of children's miracle network hospitals. Local funds raised through sponsors of this organization support our annual fundraising initiatives. The exposure received through partnerships with more than 400 retail cmn regional locations allows le bonheur to have a greater presence throughout the region. This presence gives opportunity for greater exposure of programs available at le bonheur.
